That entire video was just amazing!! I’m very new to carving & kept seeing all this unbelievable geometric stuff but didn’t know what to call it to find more on it. Now I know it’s chip carving. That whole video is so full of useful information & it had all the answers to questions I didn’t know I was going to be asking at some point in my carving experience!!
Thank you both so much.
Best wishes from the U.S.
Thats awesome to hear Trent, sincerely appreciate your kind words and wishing you all the best with having a go yourself ~Peace~

Fantastic insight to chip carving. As a new carver I’m in overload for all of the different tools and styles I want to try. Great work axed ~Respect~
Indeed it's awesome to see how many topics and subsequent tools woodworking splinters off into. Many thanks for watching and for your kind words Glen ~Peace~
Excellent tutorial video. Lee is an excellent teacher with clear and concise instructions. He is so talented and if I was in the UK I would love to take lessons from him. Perhaps after the Corona Virus subsides and travel is aloud again, I would love to take a working vacation to the UK. I live in the States where there are no classes in my area. Spoon carving and chip carving seems to be more popular there than here. I love some of the outdoor events you have shown on your channel and plan to attend one after the current crisis subsides. If you ever get the chance to film Lee Stoffer making one of these small carving knives I would love to watch the entire process from selecting the type of steel to use thru to firing and tempering the steel to refining the blade. I do some welding and metalwork so, I have access to torches and it would be nothing to put together a small forge. Thank you again Zed and Lee!!
Lee is one of the most talented guys I know and yet so humble. We are fortunate here in the UK to have such a great and diverse scene when it comes to crafts, along with a myriad of events throughout the year spanning all the different disciplines too. A sincere thank you for watching and for your kind words too, take care ~Peace~
Brilliant video with excellent tuition by Lee. well done Zed and Lee it made me go and get a bit of wood and give it a go
Ah nice going Martin and sincerely appreciate the kind words my man ~Peace~

Another great tutorial. Thank you Zed and Lee.
As always I appreciate your kind words and for watching thank you ~Peace~
Phenomenal video, really has helped me get the basics down and, as you can see, that can really grow into some neat complex designs.
well spoken, explanied, and demonstrated
Sincerely appreciate the kind words and all credit goes to Lee's amazing tuition ~Peace~
So spooky, I was only over at Mums this afternoon looking at a box that has been around ever since I can remember, and looked at it closely, thinking ah... that’s chip carving as seen recently on antiques roadshow. Thank you for this! It was meant 😊
Oh wow thats awesome to hear, they don't make stuff like they used to! ~Peace~
Thanks for doing this video Zed very insightful and Ive got to have a go well done to Lee for the instruction
Sincerely appreciate you watching and for your kind words my man ~Peace~

Thats awesome to hear Jerry, Lee is a wealth of knowledge and everyday is a learning day ~PeacE~
That was one of the most comprehensive and informative beginner videos I've seen. Trying to get into woodcarving and this video is going to help no end. Cheers guys, look forward to more videos take care.
Thats awesome to hear Vincent and happy carving my friend ~Peace~
Very good video Zed. Mr. Stoffer has provided very good instruction into the many 'facets' of his style of Chip Carving. My 'former' spouse has learned some Russian Style with the different 'strange' knives, and practice boards. 5✨ 👍
Indeed the Russian style is amazing and some of the intricate designs they do is mesmerizing. As always I appreciate your kind words and for watching thank you ~Peace~
This is a wonderful resource, thanks Zed & Lee!
Thank you kindly Sam! ~Peace~
Many thanks for your generosity and sharing!!!
Appreciate your kind words and for watching Tomas ~Peace~
As you guys mentioned Tatiana, I have watched some of her videos and as Lee has said she is an absolute wizard with her blade and style. There are a few other guys who do the same as she does.
Indeed her work is incredible and like you rightly said there are so many other talented chip carvers out there too ~Peace~
Nicely done! 👍👍👍
Thank you kindly my friend ~Peace~
i have learned so much from zed and the "workers" in these movies, many thanks,

Excellent tutorial, thanks.
Thank you kindly, all credit to Lee and his wonderful teaching ~Peace~
I’d be very interested in seeing Lee make that very thin sheep’s foot knife
Indeed he's refined his process for making it and continues to do so even now ~Peace~
Thanks for sharing that
Thank you kindly Hassan ~Peace~
👍 Very good and beautiful, thank you!
Thank you kindly ~Peace~
Interesting video. I found Russian 'hatchet' ' style chip carving knives good for carving on spoons.
The chip carvers in Russia are incredible! ~Peace~
*_Hey ZED_** , great to see you..* 😎👍🌟🌟🌟
.
I was wondering if you would do a video on Bushcraft Prepping for the upcoming food shortage / Food waste campaign that a lot of governments are activating...
.
No Bushcrafters are covering this subject in UA-cam-verse.
I'll add that to a list of videos to cover my friend 👍 ~Peace~
High Zed, great video buddy yet again, and a big up for Lee too.
Having watched Lee's video from 5 years ago it ran straight into this one of yours, awesome mate and as always interesting n' informative .
You sure do get around in your tea half hour don't you.
You obviously must have learnt loads and loads, and come home with a few perks along the way, if so good luck to you mate, you sure put some time in travelling and filming.
Has Lee moved ? Or has he redesigned his man cave?? Looks like a pretty cool workshop to me, Iooks nice comfortable environment to work/ carryout your hobby/ passion.
I have already looked on a couple of sites and yes Lee's is one of them, but no one seems to have any of these knives in stock !! Why is it so difficult trying to find them?? It seems that everyone has stopped making them :-((
Hope you are keeping well fella
All the best
Les.
Hi Les, Lee has two different workshops at his house, he uses one for the metal work, etc and this one he uses for more the woodworking side of things. Reg his knives his output is very minimal nowadays, and when he does make them for sale they go very quickly! ~Peace~
The tats on that spoon!
My man! ~Peace~
Thank you
You are very kind thank you ~Peace~
Yippee ! Chip carving!
Woot woot! ~Peace~
Great video and tutorial 👌🏻
Get some flexcut knifes, they are 👍🏻
Indeed I have their chip carving knives and they are ace ~Peace~
Fantastically informative and inspiring video. Thank you both. Early on, Lee mentioned that the chip carving tool he uses might be unsuitable for sycamore. What should one use on sycamore, please? Many thanks!
Sincerely appreciate the kind words, Sycamore is a soft wood so is har to get clean and sharp lines. You can still do it though with any chip carving knife you have ~Peace~
A little dabble? Really Lee? Great video both of you.
Lee's too humble for his own good, many thanks for watching John ~Peace~
Great video Zed!!! I don't know if it was already said but is it possible to buy Lee Stoffer's chip carving knives? Can you custom order them or something? Thanks for the video!!!
Many thanks for the kind words, alas Lee is not making them for the forseeable future but I have pinned a link to the top of the comments where you buy really good quality chip carving blades for a competitive price ~Peace~
Thankyou for the great tips! I found it comical that for the tiniest little v's cut it the side of the spoon you used the biggest bowie knife.😅 I don't do it like you, which is prolly why my stuff looks like crap and I am down to only 7 fingers left. I find a machete length knife gives me the ballance I need for chopping my ugly carvings into firewood.
OK so..., I went to my shop, sharpened my whittler, and I was wondering: After carving about three edge triangles I don't quite get one deep enough and the grain acts like a zipper and peels off three of my triangles. So is it normal to then laugh maniacally and hit it with a hammer?
Yeh it's cool to use whatever knife you have to hand and are comfortable with using. Reg your attempt at triangles, it really is a case of simply practising as much as you can, using Lee's teachings as a guide, once you get the hand of it you'll be rocking! ~Peace~
Lee reminds me of wallace from wallace and gromet
lol I don;t see the similiarity but hey ho :) ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors I think it's just the voice and attitude. Wallace is a very nice and calm fellow.
Good stuff, maybe a steadier camera position needed
Thank you kindly, yeh it's tricky filming things so close such as chip carving with the camera set up I have, lots of room for improvement on my end ~Peace~
Are you related ro Diljit Dosanjh?? You loook sooo similar.
Psst Simon sent me here, consider my subscription.
A pleasure to connect and Simons a top guy ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors thanks sir.
There is no doubt these films are really useful but can you please do something to improve the focusing. Very distracting, I'm afraid.
I do the best with the equipment and skill level I have ~Peace~
A great tutorial. Thanks
You are very kind Annie thank you ~Peace~
