Curtis: "So, you think my brother should get a Fire-Type Pokemon? Thanks for the suggestion!" *Several Minutes Later* Curtis: "Blaise I can't find a Growlithe at Virbank Complex, what do I do"
Yancy and Curtis are arguably the most obscure and forgotten characters in the series (as far as mainline Pokémon games are concerned, anyway). And that’s a shame, because they have so much charm and personality to them, and they both have great designs.
This side quest with Yancy (or Curtis in this case) is the reason why Togekiss became one of my favorite Pokémon. I learned that you could get a Togepi here, and I had learned how good it was even without the Fairy typing it has now. I spent a lot of time getting the calls and activating the trades for Yancy. It was annoying at the time, but soon enough, it was all worth it as I got the egg baby. Even though it wasn’t the insane Serene Grace, this Super Luck Togekiss had a spot on my postgame squad and helped me come to love this graceful dove
Updated Win-Loss Ratios: And Blaise is officially off the market! Curtis was smooth as hell! 17:18 I don't think Curtis meant THAT kind of "battling"... Im pretty sure that Curtis and Yancy are idols, not Television presenters!they mention their good at singing, and would like to sing for you! Their also seen on TV alot because of that. Love these two, i wish they returned in other gens, like if you could see them on their buisness trips
Curtis is a sweetheart. My headcannon is that Blaise asks her mom to pack two lunches each day she stops by home to bring to the TV studio so she can give the second lunch box to Curtis. She joins him on his fishing trips, eventually traveling to the Alolan region because there's some juicy gossip about rare fish that can be caught there. Curtis moves up in his job and realizes his dream of filming a nature documentary with Blaise, traveling to each region to discover the wonders of aquatic Pokemon. They'd eventually marry and raise a family, but with Blaise having kept such a low profile with the amount of time spent with Curtis, not much was seen of the Unovan champion since.

That was so freaking cute! And yes, as someone who is still currently in a long-distance relationship, typing out the words, see you soon is so freaking satisfying!
8:43 After that rather harsh beating, I used to love encountering the old folk in this facility because those are the trainers with legends, and the only way for me to see sprites of legends unobtainable without transfer (something I didn't reliably have as a kid)
I havent really watched your content much for around a decade, last i watched was a paper Mario (wii) playthrough and im genuinely happy you're still going strong. This type of content is sort if a dying medium because the UA-cam algorithm demands X, Y or Z apparently. Hope to see you still going strong in another 10 years lmao
As someone who has been in a long distance relationship for a couple years and only gets to see their partner a few times a year, yes I can most certainly say it is very satisfying to say “I’ll see you today”
This really is such an adorable side quest. I loved the incorporation of exclusive in game trades. It’s how I got my Ralts that’s now, of course, my Gallade in White 2.
Typhoon seeing Blaise and Curtis dating- Typhoon: It should have been me, not him! It's not fair! I'm still waiting for Pokemon Masters to do a Valentine's event that brings in Curtis and Yancy. Maybe next year?
I forgot to say this last time, but the EEVEE That’s gifted to you from the dream lab in Castalia city is gender locked. It will always be a male. So unfortunately, that means you can’t pass it’s hidden ability on and make a full team of Eevee evolutions with their hidden abilities
When I got to this part, I got pretty invested watching Yancy/Curtis and Nate/Rosa form a relationship. Even though they're silent protagonists, I loved this!
I love this little subplot. Sure, it is annoying at times with how often you have to call them, but I am a sucker for cute romance, and that's all this sidequest is, so it's fine with me. I haven't completed it yet, having only just unlocked the ability to trade, like, this morning, and I am sure there is plenty more interesting dialogue I have not seen yet. Hopefully this video does not spoil too much of it. What is the point of the Battle Institute? Like, seriously, what is the point. Gear station is right there. It seems Yancy/Curtis's dialogue is random each time you call them, because I feel like Igot different ones while playing as Rosa, and in a different order. Unless I'm misremembering... Which is entirely possible. These two really should be more popular. They have great designs, and plenty of character. Its also very rare for there to be canon romance in these games, especially with the main characters, so they are very unique in that way. He got a repeat, so i guess it is random (except for the main milestones)
Just for the Medals and to have another place to battle in. They took out the BF so they wanted to try and make up for it. They did it pretty well with the other facilities imo but this is one of those leftovers. The inverse institute in Gen 6 though would have been an amazing substitute for this place. Or a Triple/Rotation battle facility. There is always something more they could have done lol
Man, Join Avenue wouldve been such a perfect fit for the 3DS era between wonder trade and street pass making the process extra streamlined. I'm surprised it never made a return.
I was indifferent towards this sidequest originally because seriously what're the odds people will do all these steps to get these Pokemon, but this was really cute. That line on the final Ferris Wheel ride "But that's not the only pretty thing around here..." the freaking RIZZ
It's funny, I remember doing the trading with Yancy and Curtis for some of their Pokemon to fill out my Dex, but I don't remember the phone calls at all. Which is probably bad for them, haha. I do remember them having a thing for your trainer though, I just haven't seen some of these calls before/don't remember them. Guess I got lucky and got the trading fast or something. But I do appreciate the extent they went to so they could develop these side characters, some of those calls were very sweet. And seeing genuine, pure love with no strings attached can be refreshing once in a while, especially if it's helping someone get through The Horrors Of Work. Oh, and a celebrity falling for you by pure happenstance is like a lonely person's dream come true XD
I wanted to say thanks. Today I did horrible in an exam, and I was feeling like I couldn't enjoy anything, but this video made me laugh quite a few times. Man, I love pokemon, and I love learning new things about games I love, and I love this channel. I feel much better now
So I don't know if this is important, but I remember when i played my white 2 and was with Yancy one of the transceiver calls had her mention "Clefairies are so cute. I wish I could find one." So i went on a mission to get one, trade it to her and then on another call she said the same thing, but without mentioning she wanted to get one. The game actually registered she has one now and she loves it.
For some reason "He's laying it on thick like peanut butter" is hilarious. Curtis do be kind of smooth though. I paused the video at 17:19 in the middle of Blaise blinking and it looked like she was staring smugly at Curtis after he talked about challenging her to a battle. "A strange man caught me off guard giving me these medals" Now I'm imagining the medal man just walking up to and accidently jump scaring random people to give them medals.
Am I the only one who thinks that Rich Lady (I think that's her trainer class) with the Latias could be Tobias's grandmother? It was just a random thing I thought about. I also love the interactions with Curtis. He's probably one of my favorite obscure characters. Also, I would kill for a pokemon dating sim. But that's probably just me.
22:03 Considering I'm currently in a LDR right now and we'll hopefully get the chance to see each other in about two months, I am SO using that line! I don't think I even knew about all the Curtis/Yancy stuff back when I watched another B2/W2 LP years ago (or maybe I plump forgot, who knows haha)! Super interesting that they're basically our character's partner and that they took the time to implement all this beyond just returning the X-Scissor (I straight up can't be bothered to check the spelling lol).
fun fact in the manga yancy and the main character Nate were actually dating for a bit but they broke up cause yancy's job kept coming between them later it was reveled that Nate was only dating her because he thought he could get closer to team plasma through her he though she was a member but when he found out she wasn't he just left her
What do you mean you didn't expect that to happen??? That's another post league thing. You can ride with the rival on Tuesdays, Bianca on Wednesdays, N on Fridays, and Cheren on Saturdays.
I didn't even know about Curtis and Yancy the first time I played this. Now I'm finding out that they did this with them? A love interest for shippers? Damn, Black 2 and White 2 did a little bit of everything, huh? These games are more goated than I thought!
I gotta give Black & White 2 for having a dating sim with characters that look like they jumped out of any idol-themed rhythm gacha game like Project SEKAI
I had the biggest crush on Yancy as a kid, but I always played as the girl so I only knew her from the guidebook. I wished that I could have her instead of Curtis, but it still took me multiple additional years to realize I like girls romantically.
Tonight on Pokemon BW2: Speed dating. Rosa about to become the new leader of Just Friends. Kinda cute how they talk about going to the 4 prior regions and the Pokemon they trade are from said regions.
I want to add to what you said about trading. You can do the time travel trick where you set the date back one day and let the clock roll over to midnight the next day. This really helped me out because I wanted two sets of their trades (one to keep in game and one for HOME).
*In Nimbasa City* *Blaise, Curtis, and her Pokemon all ride the Ferris Wheel together* Pignati: Ah, what a lovely sight out there. McFly: You said it Pignati, it's impressive just how high this ferris wheel goes. I wonder just how far we can see from up here? Maybe I can see my home from here? Pignati: I wouldn't count on it. Aidan: *shaking a bit* Jade: *holding Aidan next to her* You doing ok? Aidan: Y-Yeah. I am. Still don't like heights, but being next to you makes me feel a lot safer. Jade: *blushes* Aw, Aidan. *hugs him* Harmony: I am most impressed by this creation and how we can all view the sights from such a height without the fear of falling. Lasagna: Yeah, honestly the less you think about it, the less scary it is. So, maybe let's not talk about how this thing could lead to our impending death, please? Harmony: I do not believe that would occur, as this structure is built very soundly. There is approximately a 1/97,253 chance in death while on this contraption. Lasagna: Again, let's not talk about death. I don't want to hear about it. Ontario: *sitting outside* I wish Shanir was here. Then I could go on the ride. Bianca: ... Yeah. I can trust you. Follow me. *walks inside with Shanir and Sasha right behind* Shanir: So, who has access to this center? Bianca: Just the professor and me. We each have a key and make sure to lock all the doors and cages. So we have no idea how the Pokemon escaped. Sasha: *looking around* There doesn't seem to be any signs of forced entry. Shanir: So they either lockpicked all the doors and padlocks, or something else? Bianca: What do you mean, something else? Shanir: You said the only people with keys for this place is you and the professor, right? Bianca: Yeah. There's no way someone could have stolen one of our keys or even made a replica of... Sasha: AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Bianca and Shanir turn around to see Sasha infront of a broom closet, shaking in fear* Shanir: Sasha! What is it!? Sasha: ... *moves away to reveal a Tepig being hung* Bianca and Shanir: *gasp!* Bianca: *approaches the Tepig* ... H-... He's... dead. *looks at the name tag* Terry. What happened to you? Shanir: Bianca! Breathe! Bianca: *starts to calm down* W-Who did this? Why did they do this? How did they... Shanir: I don't know. But we're going to find out. Sasha: *goes to investigate the hanging Tepig, but the Tepig drops to the ground as the 'rope' vanishes* What in the...? Huh? Shanir: Look, I don't to say the obvious has happened, but if there is a chance some of these Pokemon are still alive, we need to find them. Sasha and I will look around everywhere we can and contact you if we find anything. Bianca: O-Ok. Just keep me updated. I-I need to clear my head. I'm going to go ride the ferris wheel or something. Shanir: One more thing. Keep this situation quiet for now. We don't want Unova in a frenzy over several missing and or murdered Pokemon. Bianca: *gulp* Right. Don't want to cause a ruckus right now. Not after just having gotten rid of Neo Team Plasma. Shanir: Sasha. Let's go. Sasha: Yeah, let's go. *the three head outside to investigate. Meanwhile, a shadowy figure appears outside the window. Shimmer, looks down at her shiny, green, ghostly vines* Shimmer: It's like I never died in the first place. Now with the added benefit of leaving no traces behind. Those two were just the start, now it's time to pull a certain Pokémon's plug. *vanishes while cackling into the night* *to be continued*

I just noticed that in Ralt's entry when going over the trade pokemon from Yancy / Curtis, it said that Ralts is in the Humanshape egg group, but it wasn't actually in that egg group until gen 8. Before that, it was just amorphous
I find it so funny that with how... passionate the fanbase is about the human characters, the two characters you can actually date are barely known by anyone

Fun fact: in the BW2 manga, the male MC, who is the super attendant for the international police department actually breaks up with Yancy. He was dating her because he thought she might have been a former Team Plazma grunt.
I’m binge-watching the rest of this series late at night, and that Trainer sending out a Latias when you had just suggested she had a Latios made me have to laugh into my pillow to not wake up my family. Nice call, Emile! Lol! I also had no idea Yancy and Curtis existed. I would’ve LOVED this as a kid, if I’d known about it!
The Battle Test has always been the most egregious battling facility to me because it plainly demonstrates how the battling facilities are rigged against you in just 5 battles. Seeing the AI adapt from 1st stage pokemon at the start, to solid teams in battles 3 or 4, to throwing teans of legendaries with coverage specifically to counter you by the end feels so bad.
You know that episode of the anime where some guy pulled a Darkrai and a Latios on Ash in a competition for some reason? That's literally what that old lady did here.
The whole curtis/yancy dating thing reminds me of my own relationship I had last year with a very lovely man. We didn't live too far apart only around 20 or so miles but still took us 2 trains to come to each other but everytime it was worth it and we were very much in love and had video calls in-between the times we saw each other which would last hours and at the start I had a lot of health problems so I couldn't see him straight away and when we met for the first time our overwhelming feelings were high. Our video calls I loved having at work, at home and it being always private. It was a way we could see each other. Our relationship didn't last forever and it really hurt when we broke up and the first break up I had at the age of 27. I never got to date in school since being gay publicly got you bullied beyond hell. I cherished this relationship and it taught me a lot and this event reminds me of what we went through together and how happy he made me feel for the first time in a while. Now we feel like strangers and it breaks my heart but sometimes it just happens
I believe evidence debunks the theory of Curtis and Yancy being siblings; the former talks about battles with his mom and sister and catching a Pokemon for his little brother, while the latter battles with her dad and brother and is catching a Pokemon for her little brother. Both have difficulty fighting their sister/brother's Leavany, which doesn't align with the other's type interests nor would it make sense if they had one themselves. Additionally, they both talk about having someone they compete with at the workplace that based on context is implied to be the other. If they were to be siblings, I feel that would have been mentioned, if not by themselves on the phone, then discussed on TV. As for those curious about Yancy, she likes Normal Types for their adaptability, putting in effort to "become whatever they want to be". She has a more diverse range in hobbies versus Curtis' interest in fishing. By which I mean she has two. She cooks, and thus goes out of her way to try popular foods. Hence her trading Pokemon with Rage Candy Bar and similar items. She also enjoys taking walks, going at a slower pace and soaking in the scenery. Lastly, whenever Cristoph or Nancy appear on TV, they have a chance of talking about the Pokemon they were traded by the player. It's a really charming addition!
Having Curtis/Yancy in this game is very cool! Not sure if this game will be remade in the future, but maybe having them show up in Pokémon Masters would be nice.
10:00 tbh the ones in x and y and oras are definitely faster by design than the battle maison, mostly because they help the speed of collecting battle points. _you get more by a single battle in the institute than the battle maison's super single battles because of the point system_ ...that is dumb

And by the time you have access to this, you also have access to breeding and can get another Togepi that DOES have Serene Grace, so everybody wins.
Have you heard of the Dream World Togekiss with Present that players got on their birthday?
Didn't Emile mention that in the first game?

Really wish I'd thought of this lol
Im pretty sure that Curtis and Yancy are idols, not Television presenters!they mention their good at singing, and would like to sing for you! Their also seen on TV alot because of that.
Love these two, i wish they returned in other gens, like if you could see them on their buisness trips
I'm pretty sure Emile actually made fun of one of his songs that were on the tv
6:50 - 8:49 I think this battle proves we've just met Tobias's grandmother.

@@Protofall A Trainer in the anime Sinnoh League that Ash lost to after his intense battle with Paul. The dude was rocking a previously undefeated Darkrai that he won all of his battles with, and when Ash managed to take it down, he revealed he also had a Latios that took out the rest of Ash’s team. He seemed to pretty much exist to stonewall Ash from another League victory by just being too OP.
I love how much they put into interacting with Curtis/Yancy. It almost feels like they're another player on their own journey alongside you.

I like to imagine Blaise/Rosa is just blankly staring at her X-Transceiver as Curtis basically acts as his own therapist.

That was so freaking cute!
And yes, as someone who is still currently in a long-distance relationship, typing out the words, see you soon is so freaking satisfying!

After that rather harsh beating, I used to love encountering the old folk in this facility because those are the trainers with legends, and the only way for me to see sprites of legends unobtainable without transfer (something I didn't reliably have as a kid)
I remember when I saw Yancy in her work clothes I was like, "Wait, what?" Like I thought I discovered something huge
I appreciate it! I do some other video genres now on occasion, but I want to keep making and improving at this type of video!
As someone who has been in a long distance relationship for a couple years and only gets to see their partner a few times a year, yes I can most certainly say it is very satisfying to say “I’ll see you today”

I'm still waiting for Pokemon Masters to do a Valentine's event that brings in Curtis and Yancy. Maybe next year?
I forgot to say this last time, but the EEVEE
That’s gifted to you from the dream lab in Castalia city is gender locked. It will always be a male. So unfortunately, that means you can’t pass it’s hidden ability on and make a full team of Eevee evolutions with their hidden abilities
Ditto go brr
@@OswaldAurelia Unfortunately, in Gen 5 only the female can pass on hidden abilities, Ditto can't help this.
Granny be like Tobias, throwing out a Legendary and when that ones finally goes down she tosses out another Legendary that finishes the job.
Although she did better than Tobias did in the same scenario, as her second didn't go down with Emile's last mon.
One has the Subway Masters and the other doesn’t. I think I know where I’m fighting.
That breeder encounter during the Yancy/Curtis call locations B-Roll was well played sir.
Man, Join Avenue wouldve been such a perfect fit for the 3DS era between wonder trade and street pass making the process extra streamlined. I'm surprised it never made a return.
Gen 7’s Festival Plaza was basically the 3DS’s version of the Join Avenue. It wasn’t exactly like it though, it just has some similarities.
CURTIS WAS BLUSHING! The phone call where he asked Blaise to meet up in front of the farris wheel, his cheeks were red
I feel much better now
I just noticed that when you finally get the call about meeting face-to-face, it looks like they are blushing
You'll love the side modes in Masters, then.
@PriffyViole It's more of a farming sim side-activity in function but I guess it's the closest we can get for Pokemon games hehe.
That Socialite at the Battle Institute really just said "back in my days we went through *events* to get legendaries". XD
I wanna be in her days
22:03 Considering I'm currently in a LDR right now and we'll hopefully get the chance to see each other in about two months, I am SO using that line!
I don't think I even knew about all the Curtis/Yancy stuff back when I watched another B2/W2 LP years ago (or maybe I plump forgot, who knows haha)! Super interesting that they're basically our character's partner and that they took the time to implement all this beyond just returning the X-Scissor (I straight up can't be bothered to check the spelling lol).
As soon as Curtis mentioned the medal rally Blaise knew he was the one.
Oh FINALLY. Yancy and Curtis attention. They'll finally get more attention with a video like this.
26:45 "You were naked in the shower..." -Chuggaaconroy 2023

fun fact in the manga yancy and the main character Nate were actually dating for a bit but they broke up cause yancy's job kept coming between them later it was reveled that Nate was only dating her because he thought he could get closer to team plasma through her he though she was a member but when he found out she wasn't he just left her

My favorite detail of the Curtis/Yancy side quest is after that ferris wheel date they start blushing when you call them.
What do you mean you didn't expect that to happen??? That's another post league thing. You can ride with the rival on Tuesdays, Bianca on Wednesdays, N on Fridays, and Cheren on Saturdays.
Thanks I know the days now
Hugh and the Ferris Wheel was really awesome. He does deserve a break.

Kinda cute how they talk about going to the 4 prior regions and the Pokemon they trade are from said regions.
This entire quest line was sweet, thanks for showing it, I never knew about this
Been waiting for this episode.
I want to add to what you said about trading. You can do the time travel trick where you set the date back one day and let the clock roll over to midnight the next day. This really helped me out because I wanted two sets of their trades (one to keep in game and one for HOME).
*In Nimbasa City*
*Blaise, Curtis, and her Pokemon all ride the Ferris Wheel together*
Pignati: Ah, what a lovely sight out there.
McFly: You said it Pignati, it's impressive just how high this ferris wheel goes. I wonder just how far we can see from up here? Maybe I can see my home from here?
Pignati: I wouldn't count on it.
Aidan: *shaking a bit*
Jade: *holding Aidan next to her* You doing ok?
Aidan: Y-Yeah. I am. Still don't like heights, but being next to you makes me feel a lot safer.
Jade: *blushes* Aw, Aidan. *hugs him*
Harmony: I am most impressed by this creation and how we can all view the sights from such a height without the fear of falling.
I wonder how she and Sasha are doing?
*meanwhile, Shanir and Sasha make their way to Professor Juniper's Starter Pokemon Center*
Shanir: Here it is. Let's see what we can uncover.
Sasha: Right. Hey wait, is that Bianca?
Bianca: *looking down at her Xtransceiver*
Shanir: Hey.
Bianca: AH! Sorry, y-you startled me. Who are you again?
Shanir: Shanir. And this is Sasha. We're friends of Blaise and Pignati.
Bianca: Oh right, of course. What's going on?
Sasha: We heard several Pokemon went missing here and we want to help investigate.
Shanir: Can we look inside?
Bianca: ... Yeah. I can trust you. Follow me. *walks inside with Shanir and Sasha right behind*
Shanir: So, who has access to this center?
*Bianca and Shanir turn around to see Sasha infront of a broom closet, shaking in fear*
Shanir: Sasha! What is it!?
Sasha: ... *moves away to reveal a Tepig being hung*
Bianca and Shanir: *gasp!*
Bianca: *approaches the Tepig* ... H-... He's... dead. *looks at the name tag* Terry. What happened to you?
Shanir: *notices a sign* What does that say? *reads it as is spells out, 'HE'S NEXT'* He's next? Who's next?
Bianca: *hyperventilating* OMA! OMA ! OMA! OMA! OH MY ARCEUS! WHAT'S HAPPENING!!!?!?!
Shimmer, looks down at her shiny, green, ghostly vines*
Shimmer: It's like I never died in the first place. Now with the added benefit of leaving no traces behind. Those two were just the start, now it's time to pull a certain Pokémon's plug. *vanishes while cackling into the night*

6:32 hey look at that, nuclear fission...
Curtis mentioned a female coworker so I thought that was Yancy.
After a certain point you can see that Curtis is blushing when we call.
I think Reuniclus being able to use Explosion is a reference to apoptosis, as it IS based on a cell. It would make more sense if it were Self-Destruct, though.
The Pokémon breeder redemption moment was touching
I just noticed that in Ralt's entry when going over the trade pokemon from Yancy / Curtis, it said that Ralts is in the Humanshape egg group, but it wasn't actually in that egg group until gen 8. Before that, it was just amorphous
I had a massive video game crush on Curtis as a kid! Probably because his design reminds me of N! 🥰❤️

Oh shoot this is about Yancy and Curtis yessss!!! I’ve been loving talking to Curtis!!
Fun fact: in the BW2 manga, the male MC, who is the super attendant for the international police department actually breaks up with Yancy. He was dating her because he thought she might have been a former Team Plazma grunt.
I am so in love with Chugga's snort-laugh. 😍
Cugga getting steamrolled by two of my favorite legends (with Latias being my favorite 'mon ever) brought me so much joy
15:27
The perfectly cut Breeder jumpscare was hilarious
The dating Sim everyone on Twitter was like WHAAAAAATT!!
This is so nostalgic
You know that episode of the anime where some guy pulled a Darkrai and a Latios on Ash in a competition for some reason? That's literally what that old lady did here.
“Mom, I can quit doing medals whenever I want! I’m not addicted!”
22:55 I see you, Emile. I see you and your Stupendium song reference.
Here I was thinking of the new Don't Hug Me Im Scared show
Having Curtis/Yancy in this game is very cool! Not sure if this game will be remade in the future, but maybe having them show up in Pokémon Masters would be nice.
7:13 "Oh no! Chugga got Ash'd!"
Yeah that fight was unfair
@@maskpenn9443Hence the double reference.
10:00 tbh the ones in x and y and oras are definitely faster by design than the battle maison, mostly because they help the speed of collecting battle points.
