Imho, the artwork and the music and show is designed to impress, and thats a pretty boring approach. The whole theme of the A.I becoming sentient, is basically a theme in Progressive Trance and Techno since what?! 30 Years? In the sound Anyma there is nothing new, nothing special, just gigantism. the music and the show is not allowing to dive deep into something, it forces you to take up, but not to experience.. well explained how the music works. I see I’ve entered the genre argument room lol. Great video of the sound design! I’ve just started producing music as a hobby not as a MP but I have an ear for music. I don’t care for what genre Anyma is put into as it is the sound and vision is what it’s all about. Even iTunes puts Heavy Metal into Rock! I hope to create my own sound one day with a bit Anyma of course not be an Anyma copy. I don’t know anything about OSC’s or FM Modulators and Envelopes are for letters I never write or send 😊.
What Anyma does is pretty cool, but to be fair, techno producers have been using AI themes and concepts in their music since the 90's , he's carrying on a long tradition
id also add that his sound design is what we in the underground were doing 10-15 years ago, some even further back. None of the sounds I hear in his music are particularly exciting to me. I can point you to old Robert Hood tracks that push sound design further eg. IMO He is making a polished sounding, more simplistic groove, and overall more commercially focused sound that has more mass appeal. Underground continues to innovate and move forward and focus on the artistry while guys like anima put on a big show.@@Alice-Efe
Before Anyma was created and brought this transhumanism concept to light, I thought for a while about combining image and sound into a more intense experience (e.g. Hans Zimmer and directors). It was even more astonishing to see that it got so big. Eric Prydz has been doing this for years. What is underestimated in a project like this is the immense effort, which works most easily with a lot of contact and a level of awareness. You need a lot of resources to be able to implement something like that. I also noticed that anyma doesn't produce everything from 0 to 100% itself, but rather brings other professionals on board, e.g. with the song the sign (see involved). What's also notable is that Anyma brought the futuristic (which techno has always been) into the game at a time when global results were simultaneously stimulating awareness of advanced technology (AI at all levels). Coincidence?
I feel regardless of what the genre is called if you enjoy it you enjoy it to me it blends minimal techno with trance and melodic house into one genre. I also feel Anyma probably isn’t the best artist to showcase for the style and some of its minimal techno elements listen to enough of the style and you will see that it is prevalent in the genre as much as trance and house elements are also prevalent It’s a blend of pretty much everything.
