the plaster / door jamb transition issue just about sums up everything with the industry. why in gods name did door frames get fitted over the entire job when the issue with the thicker plaster first became apparent. "proper planning prevents piss poor performance. "
Great channel, be careful, I hear some UA-cam product reviews are getting sued for negative reviews. That aluminium door jam could do with a cover sheet before cutting the render all over it. X concreting, builders dog body, handyman, seen most forgot a lot. Good luck mate.
Love the work mate, Have you used dewalts new version of the framer? Also try using dewalts 16 or 18 gauge for shooting off the architraves/skirts. The 15 gauge nailer is made more for denser timbers
Search using terms of arm lift, arm jack, door lift, panel lift or cabinet jack and you will find them. Edit There are also rubber air wedge lift bags that can be slipped under and with an attached built-in hand pump with a 2 way valve like in a blood pressure pump you can lift adjust and support doors and other heavy items.

If you can can you make comparisons between dewalt and hikoki please? My crews are using dewalt. Saw is the best things but also hikoki is attractive So for reliability and power can you make that video please
Instead of plain 10mm out the side of architrave get some 12x12 pine give that a 2mm swipe with the plain and brad that to the door with a 3mm quick so much nicer and quicker. Plaining the architrave looks like dog shit
I am not criticizing you ? I am a finish carpenter and there is a world of difference between a framer trying to trim out a house and a finish carpenter! One I use a track saw and table saw on all moldings! Door jams 15 ga always, and pre assemble your architraves ? I tell GC & home owners don’t rush me I am not a framer!! My work is in your face everyday ! I chk all door jam rough opening for cross leg and plumb ; header level you can’t not do a good job w/ o doing that 1st . No disrespect but your trimming at a framers speed?
@@momouppa I am not sure what your point is? I been thru all that . That’s what I do? However , it’s not the right thing to do ! I could tell Dave was uncomfortable doing trim work or it looked that way. When your a GC ? And your trying to save money that is exactly how to loose money ! Cutting architrave with a skill saw and rough cut 25 tooth blade just destroys it and takes ten times longer plus I know this fact? Homeowner moves in with a warranty calls states all my trim is screwed up ? Sends pic’s of screwed up trim ? Boss call me for a price to replace ? It’s that or if you end up in small claims Ct your gonna loose ! No lawyers allowed just home owner and GC with pictures and homes price tag! Do it right the 1st time is what I am saying ! That’s all no knock on Dave he did not hv a table saw or a miter saw, ect.,. ! Dave is a great Carpenter however it’s like hiring me to frame your house? I can do it? But I should not do it! If the GC wants Dave to do it buy him the right tools ! Period !
Your architrave mitres must be rubbish if you’re sanding that much that the undercoat comes off. Should need a really quick zip over. That’s it. Shouldn’t have to go to bare timber

Hey mate try shooting your arc on your jambs on one side first when next to a wall. The arc will centre the jamb for you.
I like how the jamb is fixed to the packer but not the frame so the jamb just bounces 😄Don't get me started on the hammering of the jib....LOL!
If you lock the trigger and hold the multitool right over the head, you get a lot less vibrations and feels way better for sanding mitres
For those jambs, you should try packing out to match the gib and then the arc's looks clean and will match the skirting - and be faster
For sure. Can use a combo to get the depth either end. Transfer this depth to a length of DAR. Cut with a track saw. Then glue and nail
what product SKU's are you using? It's hard to know with so many parts what exactly you are using?

Great vid
What state you at Dave? Just wondering seems cold out there
Have you done any steel frame? Be interested to hear your thoughts and experience.
Awesome video!
Flex tools are so underrated.. you should definitely try them…
Milwaukee nail guns all the way. Never had a fail and shoot flawlessly.
Time for a new pair of pants lol unless rips are back in 😂
Nice video 📹 👍!
What's the tool called that was holding up the door while you were aligning it with the hinges on the frame?

Dewalt makes great tools but I can't stand their nailers waiting for them to wind up and sometimes they just don't shoot
