I should’ve left my net for you. I extended the handle using the poles from a roof rake. Congratulations on the catch and glad you got out there. Thanks for the footage as per usual. Congratulations Rick 🙌
I wish I was closer to your state.we had a paylake in my state that would stock BURBOT in the winter time and we would fish for them. That was forty five years ago. We used night crawlers and smelt to catch the with. Great eating fish. Love watching you fishing for them.
Wow that's really cool!!! I bet they're a riot in the winter. I'm hoping this season we get good ice on some of the deep lakes that hold them. I'm sure on an ice rod it would be nuts
Eelpout are definitely a strange looking fish! Only ever caught one up in Lake of the Woods in MN through the ice and I thought I'd caught some nuclear waste nightmare until my buddy told me what it was haha.
🤣🤣 my dad caught one when I was a kid and thought the same thing. He left it on our sidewalk and showed everyone around the area🤣 when i grew up and actually learned what it was I felt silly. Dad passed before I could show him what they really were. Great eating that's for sure
I respect that you don't tell your spot. Some more info on when to go and how you rig and fish would help. Was this night a rare thing or pretty reliable? Are any of the breakwalls OK or just some? Does it matter which lake, Michigan, Huron, Superior, or any of the above? SW Mich. OK? Muskegon, Grand Haven, Holland, South Haven? Those are closest to me. What about Travers Bay? Are they in there? I had no idea these could be caught inshore. Looks like fun.
Hey!!! I have a few other burbot videos on here where I go into more detail. Honestly they're in all the great lakes but they like deep water so superior is probably the best and Lake Michigan under that. Huron is decent but those 2 would hold far more burbot. This time of year theyll come from their deep water haunts if a pierhead or harbor has depths of 12' or better they would be great. This night was actually a slow night if you watch my other burbot videos you'll see just how many can be caught most nights. They start coming in early November and can be caught into early December. There are also inland lakes in our state that can be great for them through the ice like burt lake and torch lake.
Thank you!!! I sure have. If you google LToutdoors burbot catch and cook it should come up. I've done poor man's lobster but I prefer it just dry batter fried. Tastes like chicken that way
Another great video! Went out to a popular spot in the thumb Wednesday but didn't hook up unfortunately. I'm intrigued by your use of the leader with blades. I'm pretty sure I know where you're at there, and it never seemed like all that much current. Do you think those blades are actually spinning, or just the extra color and bulk is getting their attention?
Thank you so much!!! I don't think the blades are doing much they're probably flashing a little due too the lake currents and waves rocking them. I really think it helps to have the colored blades though. I used to use eagle claw chartreuse and orange flicker spinners but now that I'm making them I'm able to add larger aberdeen hooks, which are excellent for getting out of throats, and colors like pink.
I have some videos of that already, honestly I love chicken more than lobster so I like to dry batter and fry. Tastes like fried chicken that way lol. I did a freshwater lobster video too though
Even at night the moon shows light through the water and with the waves and lake currents the blades will flash. Not to mention night time feeders like burbot and walleye see better at night than they do in the day. How is it a coincidence that all the fish were on the pink blade instead of the plain hook?
Nowadays, only an IDIOT would tell where his spot is!!!(I don’t blame you one bit,friend)!!-Hey Lee,how do you prep your ‘bot for freezer??We’re kinda shy of dry wrapping them…🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thank you!!! I don't mind sharing locations that are really big and already known by tons of people but it's just too easy to destroy smaller locations anymore. Honestly I've always just froze them in quart freezer bags. I don't really notice any change in texture or taste. Although mine never last long in the freezer I usually eat them up quick lol.
Awesome! Never caught one but at them twice. Mmmmmm good!!
I should’ve left my net for you. I extended the handle using the poles from a roof rake. Congratulations on the catch and glad you got out there. Thanks for the footage as per usual. Congratulations Rick 🙌
Thanks!! I have a huge pier net with an extension but we assumed his net would be good enough lol
Awesome fish guys, it doesn’t matter what you fish for you always catch ‘em .
😊🙌 thanks Bill!!! I'm going to be checking ice this week
Cold enough here but been really windy for 3days.
@billverheyden2561 same here, the winds suck

Great job, LT. I didn't get to try for any when I was up there last weekend. It took all weekend to get a deer, so the fishing time was slim.
Thanks! It can definitely be tough to make time for all the outdoor stuff lol
@@LTOutdoors15 it definitely is hard to make it all work sometimes
Thanks LT for showing us how to get those freshwater cod!
😊🙌 you're welcome!!! Its crazy how many people have gotten into it since my first burbot video a few years ago

@@LTOutdoors15 Thank you.
I'm asking for some of those rigs for Xmas (I better get em or I'll pout) and try fishing for burbot. Thanks for the info...
😊😊🙌 I hope you get to go out with some they work so dang good I was amazed. I kinda figured those brighter colors would catch their attention 🙌
How cool. I need to try one if your telling me their better then perch.
Thats the same thing as a eelpout?
Yep!!!! To me they have the texture of chicken. I love them
Another good one, have you ever done a catch and cook on Burbot would like to know if you ever made poor man's lobstet

Burbots are so slimey! Vary tasty! We call them “ lawyers” in Ohio for obvious reasons
🤣👊🙌 I love it!!! They're definitely awesome fish
U doing catch clean cook with burb's? Some poor mans lobster,🍽️😁

it's night time, do you think they see any color. i don't think color catches anything but the fisherman.
