      How's the course so far. I'm 36 and started playing this week but I'm the app Simply Guitar. I'm using a electric guitar and got blisters all over 😂

    Hey man, just wanted to say its a huge comfort to see a regular person doing the same journey. I appreciate your approach and super high quality videos!

    Just found your channel and really appreciate the walk through of your journey. I also purchased A course by Jamie and let me tell you the thumb struggle is real. I spent quite a bit of time on Slow Dancing In A Burning Room and am still on the intro. It didn’t take me long to realize just how deeply over my head I was. Staying motivated has been the hardest part of my journey and seeing your 1 year progress has given me some inspiration. You’ve earned a sub here and I look forward to more of your content.

    Just happened across some of your early videos from when you were on Justin's guitar course. That is some impressive improvement in a year and a half! Great stuff!

    I too found the jump between the beginner course and Crossing the Road is pretty substantial but as Jamie told me : the best way to improve is to challenge yourself. I really find a lot of value in his paid material and he is quite responsive to any questions.

    So glad I found your channel as you’re a similar age and it has inspired me to pick up the guitar again and actually stick with it this time after doing a lot of start/stop over the years. I’ll be using the Justin Guitar Beginner Course to start with and to learn the foundations.

    Nice video mate, how did you get the tone on the guitar? Massive step up from the acoustic back in the days

    That's pretty good progress. I'm thinking of checking out Corey Congilio's blues courses he just put out with Your Guitar Sage. He keeps putting them on sale for $10 each. I don't know if I want to start with beginners or just go with intermediate because I've been spending quite a bit of time with Justin's and he is now putting out some really cool blues courses for the new beginner's course that are freakin' fun to play.

    That sounded really good to my ears Luke! I also reallyyy want to learn this song but I tried the intro and that stretch of the fingers is SO hard! Is it just me or do you feel that same? Like keeping the fingers stretched out like that for the intro and fretting it cleanly is still a challenge for me. Let me know how you feel about it

    Would love to see an update on your progress with this course. I bought it and tried one of the songs but was quick to admit I needed to spend more time on the fundamentals. I have been working on some of Desi Serna's courses (familiar with him?) to get my barre chord chops up before I will return to Jamie's material which I think is outstanding but my current skill level doesn't quite allow me to feel like I can get the most out of it...yet.

    Hey Luke, was wondering if we're going to see any more updates with how you're getting on this course? I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one interested in it, was looking at trying out this course myself after finishing Justin's beginner course a month ago but not sure if it seems a bit too advanced still, so would be really interested to see how you get on with this style of playing!

    Would you recommend this over Justin guitar? I feel like I’m barley turning into an intermediate player but haven’t done any courses so i feel like my guitar education has been a bit fractured and pieced together

    I am a musician and guitar teacher.. I really like your videos. I like your approach and the fact that you are willing to learn and share your progress. I just feel to suggest you to work a little bit more on the changes.. Slow down everytime you have to change a chord in a chord progression and find one time which you are confident to play without esitate and then go on faster and faster step by step.. The same with scales and improvisations.. Greetings from an Italian living in Greece!! Great job man!

    Hey m8, how about doing a video about different ways to write your songs and stuff down? I’d love to put all my paper on my iPad to save mess but I’m clueless as to how to go about it

    listening to you playing this im safe to say u didnt make any progress in past 6 months.. i dont want to discourage you, in fact by saying this im trying to do the opposite, i think u waste too much time doing this lesson reviews and reading about gear and u dont even play guitar anymore..

    • @MidlifeGuitar
      @MidlifeGuitar  3 роки тому +1

      There may be some truth in what you say about doing the reviews and it being a distraction. However I still do practice just as much as I did before (5 to 7 hours a week). These songs with the thumb over are very difficult for me and I am just not making the progress I once did. It was easy in the first year to make big leaps but I am on a plateau and its is proving to be a difficult one for me.

      @@MidlifeGuitarthat's because you are wasting a lot of time on this channel believe it or not running a channel and learning guitar at same time is going to be too difficult for you.
      Use the channel for some of your guitar covers to keep record of your progress that's it other than that focus on your playing
