Fifine AM8 vs Fifine K688 (short and simple)

- This is just a quick audio comparison between the Fifine K688 and the Fifine AM8. According to information these both have the same internals but the only difference is the shell. In this recording it only has USB mode. I didn't use XLR mode. They definitely do sound quite different from each other though they do have some similarities. Imo the K688 has a bit more of a wooly characteristic to its tone whereas the AM8 has a more V-shaped synthetic tone to it.
Thank you! I love your content because most UA-camrs in this category of sound gear etc have higher pitched nasal voices. My voice is deeper than yours but it helps to hear a different register. I own both mics and feel the AM8 can be heavy on a deep baritone. The K688 gives me a little more clarity even before play with the EQ
both are perfectly fine if you're just talking for a podcast or video content or whatever. i personally would never buy a mic with that big RGB light on it though because im not 12.
I think the light can be disabled but yeah i hate rgb too
Agreed, although I like it as a mute indicator
u can deactivate it if u use xlr connection
The am8 sounds significantly better to me when listening with my neutrally tuned in ear monitors tbh. It's less muffled and has more space in the sound. The slight edge in the treble can easily be fixed by eq although the muffled sound on the k688 seems harder to fix tbh. Although the k688 has something going for it and that's the 250hz region. The lower mids - upper bass area seems to be boosted giving it some vocal depth.
how the fuck do these both sound so good? the sm7b does sound warmer to me as a layman, but i dont have 400 bucks burning a hole in my pocket.
The sm7b is just grossly overpriced
Since you mentioned EQ, ya think you can make a quick vid on how you'd EQ a microphone? Software, what to EQ, etc.
I'm probably not the best for that as I tend to have an approach of "test and buy until you find the mic that sounds fantastic on you out the box" :D
@@Dracomies no worries I get ya, I'm the same with IEMs - if it ain't Harman outta the box I don't want it. Cheers for the reply
You probably have to adjust the low mids for the k688
use voicemeeter banana for this, ive done it before and it works greatly
the am8 is so impressive for its price
What's the best mic for untreated room
AM8T
Any dynamic microphone
The fifine K688 has metal body but sounds a little bit less worse sounding. The fifine AM8 has a plastic body but fits better for mid range voices.
who is better
They both sound like the lower mids have been tweaked giving it a muddy quality with some boxyness.
Are fifine products worth getting compared to the samson q2u?
They're on par imo but the AM8 and K688 look nicer and they have knobs for headphone and mic volume which can be handy. I do have a recent video of the AM8 and K688 compared to an SM7B.
Wish the k688 sounded better than the am8 since it looks cooler
It sounds a little better than the am8
Hey man I am looking for a good usb mic around 100 what do you believe is the best around that price. Doesn’t have to be one from this video. I do gaming streams and UA-cam with a MacBook and ps5
AM8 would be what I would recommend.
@@Dracomies just ordered it thank you
And how is it?@@ZiDenGaming
is there any difference if you use xlr instead? other than the utility of course.
They definitely sound different in XLR mode. I didn't do that since I'd say 99% of the people buying this are only using it for USB. Anyone who has an interface is going to step it up and get a better mic, ie RE20.
hello there I love your content.
what is the best portable audio interface to be used with smartphones and an SM7DB. preferably one with a monasterio mix switch as well as a TRS input for backing tracks and or music players.
planning on using it to live stream music covers on Facebook Instagram TikTok etc. so having the feed on both left and right channels would be much appreciated.
stay healthy and cheers from a blind subscriber in the Philippines!
edit: a TC helicon Mic Mechanic 2 analog vocal processor will be used in between the SM7DB and the audio interface. the TCMM2 itself has automatic gain which sadly cannot be disabled. so having an interface with the lowest pre-amp noise possible would be amazing for gain staging.
as an aside, I like using the TCMM2 because I am legally blind and therefore do not have the capability of using DAWs in order to add vocal effects to my live performances. so essentially having a guitar pedal but one made for vocalists is a godsend for me.
I don't think I can answer here as I don't use phone for streaming -- more trouble and hassle than it's worth. I don't like using a phone because how are you interacting with your audience, how are you interacting with your audio, how are you interacting with your video camera, you also lose your phone (in a way) -- all through a really small screen on a phone -- again not worth the trouble. But maybe someone else here in the comments might have better insight.
Comica Linkflex AD3. It has a mono/stereo switch, 2* XLR/6.35mm inputs, 2* 3.5mm inputs, and 2* 3.5mm outputs, one for headphones for monitoring and the other to connect to the phone. I don't know if it's good enough to power the SM7DB. It does have phantom power if you have other microphones.
If an audio interface needs a driver to work properly on windows. It won't work with a USB OTG cable to the phone. So this one doesn't have or use USB. It's 9v battery powered.
Goodluck.
Since you are using your phone perhaps you can try experimenting with USB mics. Especially if you don’t have an iPhone that requires an adapter for USB-c unless you upgraded to the iPhone 15. If your audience is listening to your performance on mobile phones it might not be worth the trouble of perfecting your sound if they can’t hear the difference between XLR or USB anyway.
Sir please suggest me mic between fifine am8 vs rode nt mini usb
so do you recommend the k688? i'm searching for a >100$ budget microphone, i usually use it for recordings, livestreams and videocalls and i'm racking my brain to find a good mic for this budget.
btw, I love your content and your style of creating videos. 👍
am8 or k688 would be good for your usecase. Another great option is the RODE Videomic Go 2 (make sure it's this exact model, don't get the Micro, don't get the one without the 2, but the Videomic Go 2) which is imo one of the best sounding USB mics under $100.
@@Dracomies I wouldn't know how to adjust the Videomic GO II on my desk sincerely, so I think I'll buy one of the two FIFINEs. Does they have the same pros and cons? I know you prefer the K688, I watched your video and I don't hear much of a difference between the two microphones...
@@LollenApe It's because they actually are the same mic with different shells.
@@Dracomies Alright then! I found the k688 for 45€ on AliExpress and I think I'll buy it. Thank you so much for your attention dude❤️❤️❤️
