Thoughts on the 28-75 g2 or the tamron 28-200mm? I only have the budget for one lens and I would like to do all different types of photography (landscapes, portraits, family events, etc)
I would say if you’re doing it for a living, close to full-time then I would go with the 28 to 75 and save up for the 70 to 180 later on. If you’re doing it more as a hobby or on the side the 28 to 200 may give you a little bit more range, you just have to remember that your aperture is variable so as it gets darker, it’s gonna get a little bit more difficult to shoot with it. I hope that helps 🙌
Awesome and very honest review, I’ve been debating on whether getting the 35-150 vs 28-75 myself and this answered many of my questions. I’m more on the photography side than videography, though I’m tempted on exploring more the video aspect, however this could become my one and only when traveling and not having to carry too much gear on my back
Thank you for watching! I mean its a tremendous lens. Either option you go with, you're gonna be happy with. I just posted a video about the 35-150 how it's my go-to lens for 90% of the day. But if you plan on doing video, yeah 28-75 is good to have in your bag to not have to carry the 35-150 all day long
I own both the 28-75 G2 and the 35-150... Using the 28-75 on my FX3 (28-112mm w/ clear image zoom) for handheld travel videos or in tighter places and the 35-150 is on my A7IV for photography, but these two lenses can be used vica versa... this combo is super versatile. If I shoot events, concerts or indoor sports I can put the 35-150 on my FX3 and have a 35-225mm lens (w/ clear image zoom).
Heck yeah, they’re just so versatile. I just posted a video on the 35-150 and we use that for 90% of a wedding day 🙌 Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏
Extremely helpful video! I like to do both photo and video and I've been looking for a f/2.8 zoom lens as I want to get into doing professional events. The Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 is tempting but expensive and you made some great points about the weight and likely not needing the longer end as much for video work. The Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 s is also a bit too pricy for me at the moment. It just seems like this lens was made for somebody like me and you saved me $1,000+ dollars. Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching! It really is a great lens! And I try to be as honest and transparent as I can be. This is definitely a great choice for video 🙌🙌
Thank you Martin! It really is a great lens dude. I just filmed another video and one of the questions was which lens would I take on vacation. As much as I love the 35-150, this might be the one...it's so much smaller and easier to carry
I would say this. The lightness of this lens tilts the scale vs the sigma. I had the sigma and i sold it after this one. Although for my purposes the 35-150 covers almost all if I went with two lenses this and the 70-180 is so much lighter than 24-70 and 70-200 for example
@@sickboyoffc3639 lightness aside and price aside, I probably still would do the Tamron just because of this; in the end, they are basically pretty much the same Lens. And to me the 24 to 70 or the 28 to 75 focal range is like buying socks. They’re not the most exciting thing to do, but you absolutely need it if you’re a videographer for example. So I would go with the one that is sharp, well-made, and if one of them is lighter than the other one, that would probably be the reason why I would go with the Tamron because with video it’ll be easier on a gimbal. However, you’re gonna be happy with either option, they’re both gonna do about the same thing. I hope that helps. The good thing is either option will do you well
@@sickboyoffc3639 oh shoot dude, I commented but it didn't post it: I would say I would still go with the 28-75mm. The thing with these focal lengths, they're like buying socks. It's not fun or exciting, but it's something that you must have. So given that, I would go with the one that's affordable but gives me great results. If the 24-70 and 28-75 are essentially the same thing, I would go with the 28 just because if you're on a gimbal it's gonna be lighter. I know you said lightness of the lens isn't an issue but essentially that's the main difference (to me). And on a long day as a videographer you'll probably feel it. As a photographer where you're not holding it up as much, you can't go wrong with either one. I hope that helps a bit
However, knock on wood, the 35-150 is exposed too and I’ve never had issues with it. And you know I’ve taken this thing through a ton of different elements
Worst suggestion ever with the rubber plug... do you put a rubber plug in your phone? you know, the phone that people bring into the water with them? ... it's EASY to weaterseal a plug, but a rubber plug will keep the moisture inside the port.
@@TNKPhoto why do you act like that because I’m pointing out a problem? … you’d rather have people getting moisture in their lenses than to just listen to what is correct. That’s kinda sad for an adult.
Nah dude you’re actually correct and I didn’t think about that. I think your introductory sentence of “worst suggestion ever” set the tone in a negative way. If you left that part out and simply put the positive suggestion, it would’ve been more respectful. I genuinely appreciate you giving me your Time and watching and commenting something constructive 🙏
Would love to hear your take on the 28-200 tameon vis a vis this one..
Thank you! I'll see if they send one over to try out. Im not a huge fan of variable f stops but I would give it a shot
His photos in the video are great too. Very nice composition.
Thank you so much 🙏

Amazing lens and video. Slappers on slappers!

Great Video!! I'm gonna have to pick this lens up when canon opens up their mounts to 3rd parties

This lens or sigma 24-70mm v1 for 860 USD new?

Maybe put a piece of electrical tape over the usb port. It’s not used very often. This lens looks stellar
That’s a great fix for those who live in wet climates. I suppose for us too with dust
However, knock on wood, the 35-150 is exposed too and I’ve never had issues with it. And you know I’ve taken this thing through a ton of different elements
$699 right now
Even better 🙌
