Another cost factor to consider: I just added up what it would cost to rebuild a Dana 300 with JB Conversions 4:1 LowMax gears, 32 spline outputs on both ends with 1350 yokes, and all new bearings and seals = $1950. So take that into consideration with the cost of a Dana 300 if you don't already have one, along with the twin stick flip kit, and buying a whole billet Colossus starts to become a more obvious choice!
I went Altas 4 speed back in 2013. I love it. But was very interested in your comparison. No intention to swap to something different but knowing what's out there is always a plus. If I had a choice at the time the smaller length of the Behemoth would have been a factor. It looks like it is a bit tighter in height too so getting into small spaces would be helpful. I do wonder, looking at it, if the Altas holds more oil and therefore might run a bit cooler. I drive my rig on the road so it sees some miles. Anyways, thanks for putting this together.
The behemoth can also be assembled in both driver or passenger drop configurations. Where as the atlas is stuck with the configuration in which you order it.
A passenger drop configuration would be a pretty specific older vehicle configuration. If you order something for a JK or JL it will always be driver drop
nice video, I have a question I have a 1997 tahoe with a 5.3L from a tahoe 2017 and 6l80 gear box. I'm running stock transfer case. which transfer case would you advice me to instal if I'm planning to produce around 500HP? I do a lot of heavy off-roading? I'm running a 2018 diff of a Silverado 5.3 and also a shaft of the Silverado
I would probably be more inclined to go with an Atlas for a big heavy truck with decent horsepower especially if you drive it hard. Simply because the Atlas is over built, and race proven over decades
What I’m running in the spool bus with the doubler is comparable to the Atlas 4 speed. All that means is you have the extra low range. Same thing as “dual transfer cases”. So you’ve got the 2 or 4 speed option which is entirely your call based on whether you really crawl or not, and the Trail or Pro series. I don’t think the Pro series is worth the extra cash unless you’re racing. I have over 65,000 miles on my setup without a single issue, but one thing to note about the 4 speed is that “doubler” uses its own separate oil which is not much, maybe 2/3 quart. I used to monitor the temp on mine when it was new and it doesn’t get any hotter than a diff or transfer case. It’s really just a pass through that is a spinning shaft with it in high. I’ve heard of some people doing a dry sump type setup on the doubler for more oil but I think that’s overkill. I just change the oil in mine every 5k or so
@@DirtRoadTherapy Okay. I'm looking for a solid mid-range option with like a 2:1 or even slightly higher. Would love something like a 1.8 & 2.72 combo.
I'll say something bad about the Atlas for you: The jeep will rot away around it and it will eventually be worth more than the jeep. that's it, that's all I got. 😛
The Biggest issue will be the $6,000+ a Np203/205 double can cost as low as 2k or less if you're a fab rat. Yes, I know the double is a 4to1 and the others can be 4to1- or 7to1+. I would love to make a build around one of these tho.
Thanks for offering your opinion. I actually did not get this case for free, they sent it to me to check out and I had to send it back. I can go take a pic of what’s under my Jeep right now it’s not this. It’s also not a review, it’s just pointing out major differences between the two so you can make an educated decision and form your own opinion. Funny timing though, the opportunity came up today for me to BUY this exact case (which they’ve been using to take to shows) so we’re talking about that possibility.
@@DirtRoadTherapy I appreciate the honesty! And the info is very helpful, always like it when people comparing items give their honest review regardless if it was given to them or not so we “the consumer” can make an informed decision 👌

Color always adds performance!! Great video , flipping my Dana 300 this week!!!
Yellow definitely adds the most torque, too bad they don’t have yellow 😅 good luck with the flip!

That’s a really good feature to highlight, thanks!
@@oldgrunt5569 Even if it is true, and I am not sure that it is, it's not something most folks would consider a major factor in the decision.

@@DirtRoadTherapy thanks 🙏 appreciate the help
Any time
Behemoth does offer a direct shift linkage, you just have to ask as it is not on the site.
What are the gear ratio options? That's one thing their website seems to lack information on.
I believe it’s factory 2.62:1, 3:1 or 4:1

can be use on a TJ WRANGLER 2000
Yes
Can I get that coupon code you used…. I think I’m going to try it out now

This sounds like how you’re supposed to answer when they ask you to talk about your weaknesses in a job interview.
😂 such a problem!!!
@@MK-pm9qo yeah, rust is the gift that keeps on giving.

Lol
That's pretty much the default on every truck.
My Tacoma rusted to the ground and the Atlas tcase is the only bling left 😱😁😄😬

203/205 is hella heavy tho! Dang near indestructible of course
Thanks Jon..or is John?
Jon 😬
I am Still Perplexed that the Behemoth has no "Mounting Lugs". How are you Supposed to mount the darn thing?
What do you mean by lugs? It has threaded holes, the back of a jeep trans is a flange.
I use zip ties on mine. Easy peasy
Anything light weight is weak...Anything heavy is strong
You have heard of Titanium tho right?
@David-yy7lb, that's the golden rule of the Stone Age!
Fortunately or unfortunately we're not in that age now
Can’t give a real honest review when you get one for free….just my opinion.
