To answer Jules question on Kenyan Music vs West African Music. It's a colonialism thing. West Africa was first to be colonised and alot of tribes there seemed refuge against their African enemies by collaborating with colonialism. So they ended up speaking one slang language. In Kenya, the colonialism was only used manipulatively by politicians who only supported their tribes, Luo, Kikuyu, Kalenjin. In the process every other tribe was waking up to a sovereign Kenya as they found out they can't move as freely as they used to before Kenya's independence. Now in Kenya you find counties with completely different slang and Music tastes, as every tribe and county comes to modernisation at a pace that is based on the opportunities provided by the government. In Tanzania they had an opportunity to experience communism, which provided them with the opportunity to blend more as a country than their own individual tribes.
West Africans and South Africans have an informal farm system for creativity. The best example is South Africa's gwijo songs. It's like choral but it happens any time people gather, and the kids, the activists, the workers do it all the time. So it becomes very easy to catch a vibe and produce good music because it is literally everywhere all the time. Kenyans, we keep to ourselves a lot and are not very communal or participative, so the effort to come up with something culturally rich is high because the communal mind isn't super connected.
I support Owen on promoting Kenyan music and all I can clarify is Kenyan musicians are very hardworking but the problem is Kenya artists are not supported by the rich business people compared to Nigerian artists.
Y'all talked about the show thingy and lemme tell you!! Love is blind is not the deal!! I totally agree with the ultimatum but ,y'all forgot TOO HOT TO HANDLE 😂😂😂
That joke that guy on the right made ati kama ni kikisii acha kuongea is the reason why Kenya will never have an homogeneous mentality. So kama ni kikisii usiongee?muongee kiswahili ama English?alafu nikisema staki kufunza mtoto wangu kikisii because of puns like this mnasema sipendi lugha yangu...we will never get there tujulikane tu na athletics...
Kenyan music hukua divided. Hadi enzi za ogopa na calif. Ogopa ilikua ya mababi nao kina calif appealed mtaani mostly. Problem is kenyan urban polpulation is soo small for such divisions. Naija pia hukua na such divisions eg between wizkid fc na wasee wa davido, rema na omah lay etc but they have a big polpulation.
To add on Owen's perspective on wyre and redsun it's so sad how p unit was among the biggest artist in Africa even better than diamond and even the denied him a collabo but now it's vice versa.
This debate about bringing back kenyan music needs to end. Bro i propose.... Hear me out hebu funga macho imagine pilipili with a beanie. BRO!! Isn't that kibz PRO MAX. So back my proposal, for our live show need to do a TBT INTRO for the show. Kibz aingie an baggy trousers, timberlands, red t-shirt and Bad boy owen represents JIMWAT cause watu was south C an langata watataka kuchukua representation rights. music in the background ni MBAKA CHE by PILIPILI & JIMWAT qalafu sasa mspice it up rewind mtucheze vybz kartel to ignite the bad bitch era GAZA FOREVER🙌. Paps na hiyo ujaluo yake muache akuje an hizo dad clothes. Anywayss for styling tips mnitafute
