- Did you know that Pitbull advocates argue that responsible ownership, not breed bans, is the solution? But how can communities promote responsible dog ownership without resorting to breed-specific legislation?
In numerous countries globally, Pitbulls find themselves subjected to bans, a consequence of perceived risks to public safety and a history of involvement in dog-related incidents. These bans, enacted by legislative bodies, often stem from concerns over the breed's potential for aggression and the severity of injuries associated with Pitbull-related incidents. While proponents of these bans argue that they serve to mitigate risks and enhance community safety, opponents challenge the notion of breed-specific legislation, citing factors such as individual temperament, upbringing, and responsible ownership as more significant determinants of a dog's behavior. The complex interplay between breed-specific legislation, public perception, and dog welfare underscores the need for a nuanced approach to canine regulation that balances safety concerns with fairness and evidence-based policy-making.
Moreover, breed bans often face scrutiny for their potential to perpetuate stereotypes and stigmatize certain breeds, leading to unintended consequences such as discrimination against responsible owners and the proliferation of unregulated breeding practices. As we delve into the multifaceted issue of Pitbull bans in 30 countries, we invite viewers to consider the complexities of canine legislation, the need for evidence-based approaches to dog management, and the broader implications for canine welfare and public safety in our communities.

Regarding dog bite statistics: Of the more than 8 different breeds identified, one-third were caused by pit bull terriers and resulted in the highest rate of consultation (94%) and had 5 times the relative rate of surgical intervention.
Dog bite statistics: Most alarming is the observation that when attacks come from unfamiliar dogs, the pit bull was responsible for 60% and 63% of all injuries and ocular injuries, respectively.
You should do one of debunking American pitbull terrier myths .
Pitbull or Bulldog? They are different
It's literally the nr 1 dog breed on killing humans. It attacks pets too.
Each time it has done that the owner says "But he/she is the sweetest little baby and would never harm anyone".
Pitbulls are being banned for a reason and everyone who has suffered an unprovoked attack from them will agree to it. You can find so many videos of pitbulls just attacking people or their pets and the owners can't do a thing about it.
You couldn’t be more wrong!!!✊🇨🇦
Only an ignorant would generalize like that and speak about something you have no clue about. The number one breed who attacks humans are German Shepherds worldwide. And yet, I don’t see them banned?
Maybe because the one to blame is the owner and attacker dog itself, not their whole breed. (?)
@@makilune You're searching for dog attacks. German Shepherds are police dogs are going to naturally rise up in the statistics.
Pitbulls are though nr 1 at killing humans.
It's genetic.
Much like how a herding dog has in it's blood to herd sheep, even as a little puppy.
I've owned them for 27 years. All mine were good with ppl/cats. All that negative news deals, are hood stories.
No they aren't. Darla Napora, the Bennards.
Only an ignorant who has no idea would generalize like that. The number one breed who attacks humans are German Shepherds worldwide. And yet, I don’t see them banned?
Maybe because the one to blame is the owner and attacker dog itself, and not their whole breed. Think about it, I think it’s not hard. (?)
Your statistics is a lie. Pitbulls have recored my attacks on humans than any other breeds. Stop trying to muddy the water.
From 2005 to 2019, pit bulls killed 346 Americans, a rate over 6.5 times higher than the next closest breed, rottweilers, with 51 deaths.
From 2005 to 2019, 346 Americans lost their lives to Pitbulls, a rate over 6.5 times higher than the next closest breed, rottweilers, with 51 deaths.
The American Pitbull terrier is an extremely misunderstood breed of dog I really don't like when people or certain countries or cities proceed with a negative stereotype on a certain breed of dog just because the way it looks and it's behavior
Yeah that damn behavior of killing other people at higher rates than any other dogs. Such a shame people rate it on that right?
They are not misunderstood, people have seen what it does to other people and want it gone.
Well so many people have experienced tragedy inflicted by the breed in question right?
The first thing I want to say is the bands are completely unfair these are great dogs they just need to be in the right owner's hand that knows what they are doing and that's a lot of dogs search me it's unfair and this makes me mad 😡 but I also want to say then I don't like talking about this but these dogs were used in fighting and if they bit the owner or the referee in the pit what should they wear inside of the bed with the dogs they were immediately called now calling is an old phrase for being put down which led to these dogs being no human aggression the only bread for pacifically non-human aggression what leads to attacks are negligent owners that don't know what they're doing that's my opinion and it makes me personally sad that the dog breed I love gets this if these dogs are all completely banned they're just going to Target another breed
