Love the new TT, especially because there's less manufactured "drama" to make "good TV". It's much more about the process of discovery, developing theories, learning from each other. Gus is a wonderful presenter.

I recall when Matt worked a season of “Digging for Britain” in a staged studio format and he appeared so very uncomfortable. But get him in the trenches with tools in hand and he’s so smooth👍
lately youtube's been showing me very old TIme Team eps, and in them it shows how they treated Matt HORRIBLY for the first couple seasons! they called him Rat and made him do all these embarassing and demeaning jobs, and even showed his naked ass unblurred as he got changed in (at least) one episode, I felt so awful for him! Im glad he looks happy and confident here, and also that we don't do those bullshit "hazing" behaviours anymore as a society.

Agreed! I know the experimental archaeology &/or reenactment sections aren't liked by all fans? But to me, they do have an important function in allowing laypeople to envision what the past was like. I imagine not everybody watching has indepth knowledge of the era, or can translate fragmentary finds into a mental picture of daily life at the time? Victor's drawings & the computer recreations of pottery items & buildings had a similar wonderful function in assisting the imagination; am enjoying seeing what their equivalents are in the new episodes.
@@catherinekauffman7066 Irving Finkel made the amusing point in a recent online lecture that we've basically come all the way around to a very similar technology, with people using digital stylus & tablet... & often creating messages or notes that are just as ephemeral as those that were inscribed on wax, way back when!
I've watched Time Team from the very begining over the years, and seen everyone become older gaining knowledge as in Dr's, Prof's etc. Sheer dedication in true archeology so its now lovely to watch them have more individual input and decisions in each trench they dig, plus discuss everything giving their own knowledgeable views. Mick must be there somewhere of course, watching and smiling away feeling so very proud. Well done everyone and thank you 💕🇦🇺
Another great episode. I can't believe you got a shot of me (A volunteer) my fellow volunteers and our test pit in there and yet i had no idea you'd taken it! I can now evidence to everyone that i was telling the truth that i volunteered at a time team dig! I have great memories of the dig, it was a total honour to be there for the full three days. I am looking forward to seeing day 3!

Respect to Mark Dandy for protecting James's arm at 21:10. He blocked the blade from touching by placing his own fingers in the way. I think Mark has done that demonstration many times and has found a good way to reassure the person he's demonstrating on.

It's a shame that we didn't get more of Philip doing the administrative and clerical sides of the order, or Stevie doing the combat and military aspects. I guess even with 3 episodes there's only so much time and only so much we can include.

This was great. Interesting some of the nostalgia commentators have for Tony. Gus is excellent and he doesn’t hog the limelight - I always felt Tony was good but sometimes the programme was in his mind as much about him than the other people. Keep up the good work.

I was just marveling at what all the new tech has brought to bear on the world of archaeology and then you bring out the Tilt5 , big shout out to Jeri Ellsworth and her team
was surprised by it and also loved to see it at 19:26 + its future potential (wonder if they know that it was used here) (I think I also saw a video were they synced the camera with it to show the 3D-object floating above the table, don't know if that can be done here as well, but would be awesome)
Vast improvement on recent episodes, so thank you. The extra informational and situational graphics really aid understanding. Time lines of stuff impacting on the event being explored is superb. More natural presentation like we were listening into the chats and part of them, rather than being "presented at". Always love community involvement as they are our future. I now live on a pension but have and will always continue to contribute to this for as long as it is produced. Brings me so much happiness, even though I will always miss Mick, and now Phil on these shows. Worth every cent to me. I watch from Australia, where the traditional buildings from history do not exist as we are a relatively young country, and our First Nations people lived in a completely different way, they remained hunter gatherers until we the white people invaded here.
In a way, Tim, this is almost better than the original (bar missing certain much loved people, of course). Now you fit three days into THREE hours! All the more to enjoy! These episodes are so well done, I had to thank you for making them.
Time Team has been such a huge part of my life. It's amazing to see new episodes/digs. Miss Tony and Phil and of course it'll never be the same without Mick and Victor, R.I.P, but it's incredible none the less. Thankyou Time Team for continuing to inspire me.

When I heard there was to be new episodes of Time Team I was super excited. But I did wonder if it could be pulled off with some new presenters and some old favorites missing and the answer is very yes!! All the new episodes are utterly wonderful and totally in the spirit of the shows of old.
Not only a fascinating dig but also a hefty dose of the 'warm and fuzzies' - so lovely to see old faces again blended superbly with new people, new presenters and all the modern tech. Felt very contemporary while also in spirit with what we all love about the 'classic' TT. Can't wait to see more.
When I was little I would go to grandma's and watch time team for literally days at a time - it's lovely to see this new incarnation mature to the point I would happily do the same!
Glad to see the return of the end of day pub scenes. Reminds me of the first few seasons of Time Team. Plus, it is a quintessentially British thing to do!
Time Team fan from the States, love the dig! Great choice of location and subject. The Hospitallers were so enigmatic and they still exist in some form today!
I do hope Phil gets a break from his projects and pops on one of these! Carenza organizing the kids and the test pits was so awesome- I love that they are bringing it back to getting people into archeology as they start getting the production end ironed out. This is so interesting. I have an ancestor who was Philip de Mewes, preceptor of Garwy (now Garway). He was the last Templar preceptor in Garwy, who after the suppression of the Templars, spent time in the Tower of London before renouncing the Brotherhood and being "absolved and reconciled in full council, in the Episcopal Hall of the see of London." Clearly, he later married and had children, or I would not be here.

It was good to see Stewart in charge of the dig and to see John and he working so well with each other.
When I heard there was to be new episodes of Time Team I was super excited. But I did wonder if it could be pulled off with some new presenters and some old favorites missing and the answer is very yes!! All the new episodes are utterly wonderful and totally in the spirit of the shows of old.
Enjoying the new dig. I still miss Sir Tony's voice and energetic movements.
Time team virtual museum!! Yes! Make it available on VR somehow? The new tech really takes this show to the next level. Love it.
Not only a fascinating dig but also a hefty dose of the 'warm and fuzzies' - so lovely to see old faces again blended superbly with new people, new presenters and all the modern tech. Felt very contemporary while also in spirit with what we all love about the 'classic' TT. Can't wait to see more.

When I was little I would go to grandma's and watch time team for literally days at a time - it's lovely to see this new incarnation mature to the point I would happily do the same!
Glad to see the return of the end of day pub scenes. Reminds me of the first few seasons of Time Team. Plus, it is a quintessentially British thing to do!

I do hope Phil gets a break from his projects and pops on one of these! Carenza organizing the kids and the test pits was so awesome- I love that they are bringing it back to getting people into archeology as they start getting the production end ironed out. Amazing the stride they are starting to hit just on the second dig. Thank you to everyone! And shout out to Dell for sponsoring as well! EDIT: Also thank you for using the original background music rather than the music from the latter seasons that always felt "off" mood-wise for me.

This dig site is really interesting. Great work to the entire team as well, even the host seems to be getting the archeology bug just like Tony had when he was a few episodes in haha.

Brigid was in the last series - albeit remotely from New Zealand. If I remember correctly Tracey is no longer an archeologist.

This is so interesting. I have an ancestor who was Philip de Mewes, preceptor of Garwy (now Garway). He was the last Templar preceptor in Garwy, who after the suppression of the Templars, spent time in the Tower of London before renouncing the Brotherhood and being "absolved and reconciled in full council, in the Episcopal Hall of the see of London." Clearly, he later married and had children, or I would not be here.
