Wrong trying to hit a speed your not used to hitting can be quite challenging. That’s why a lot of guys avoid the homerun derby. Those pitches come in even slower than a normal batting practice. It’s also why Greg Maddux used to throw slower if his command was off. He knew it bought him some time to find his command because it would take the batters time to adjust to trying to hit a lower speed than what was on the scouting report

Jaida is a great pitcher for her age. I really like her fastball control and her secondary pitches need work, but that 12-6 curve will be absolutely lethal if she can get better at controlling it

Aint gonna lie, she got his feet moving with a little side action of her fastball (yes its only 78, but hey.. Maddox hung around 88 with his 2 seam so lol 😅). Complement with her curve and having him swingin out of his shoes, she actually had a decently viable session against Eric. Not at all half bad with the four K's. You don't have to throw flames to get aggressive hitters out, always more than one way to pitch..kudos to her.
Maddux was throwing 90 in his prime tho. Also keep in mind speed gun in the 90's read the ball crossing home plate and current ones are from the pitchers hand upon release making like 2-4 mph difference in readings

@@hutch1910 eh kinda true. nowadays there isn't really such a thing as junk pitchers, unless you include like sidearm or submarine guys. There used to be a ton of them but today the "junk" pitchers also throw like 98mph fastballs and sinkers. I mean hell the new knuckleballer for the padres, Matt Waldron, throws a 93mph fastball lol.

It is quite possible... people who are used to seeing pretty much only 90+ will struggle to slow down their swing to catch 70. If this was a prolonged BP or something he faced more than just this once sure he would adjust. But being just a 1 off adjusting your swing for a 20mph slower pitch is really hard.
