I keep on hearing the rav say if a person puts himself in a situation where Hashem needs to make him a miracle, it lowers his merits. It should be noted that the Maharsha in Kidushin 29B writes that if someone prays for a miracle and it happens, it doesnt lessen the merits. It only lessens if it happened before any prior prayers. Keep up the work rav, i hope you can make shiurs even when you are at home due to this virus.

can any one answer why rabbi nachum gamzu la tova who always said everything is for the good. one day sees a poor man who asks him for food or charity and the rabbi says ok and turns around and after he turns back the poor man has already fallen and died. At this time, the cream has to rise to the top. When the Hebrews had the tent of meeting, they wanted Moshe to be their intercession, the go between. Hashem said no. His relationship was with each individual. It’s still the same. All those people who have made a steady relationship with Him can intercede. Hashem never changes, as we know. Beard is just an external appearance... Many hypocrites hide behind their beards. Beards does not have a connection with a pure heart of a man before HaShem., while HaShem does not care about our external carnal appearance. HaShem looks at the pure intentions of the heart. In fact what is most important is not a fleshly circumcision which is external...What Hashem wants is a circumcised heart.
