Some photographers think that you should get the shot from the camera not the effects afterwards. Is that what these people are doing they're not using after effects? Whatever you call that? Some people that went to college think I'm no good cuz I didn't so I'm not a photographer I'm not an artist because they're way above me. I don't think they are.
One image I got took weeks to get it's not from a really good camera it's from a Kodak z650 But the lens was good. I was trying to get a picture of Monarch butterflies and my boys and I were camping in the woods. And Daniel who has passed he caught Monarch in his hands. He's said Daddy I caught one. And when he opened his hands I got the shot and it flew away. And people said it's photoshopped but it's not. I believe if I'm feeling good and happy then my pictures look good and happy. I don't think you need a super expensive camera to get a decent image do you? I'd like to see a professional tell the difference between the most expensive cannon in the 90d. I don't think they could am I wrong?
I was the one who submitted my wife holding our newborn baby. The crazy thing about that photo is that we kept the gender a surprise since we had a boy and girl already. We wanted another girl but all the signs pointed to boy. We got in the hospital too late for pain management so she did it all natural and I caught the exact moment she looked down through all the pain and said, it's a girl!
1, 5 and 7 were my favorites. 1 has a story, 5, is a peek into the person's quiet time and 7 has a sense of our desire to lear a universe that is sooo big and full of adventure.
Thanks Jared, I submitted the landscape on Lake Michigan with the lines you liked. So much appreciate the feedback man, and thanks for doing what you do!!!
it's a good picture because it's almost like those two cats were discussing some business behind those cars when you found them and the main cat lookin at you like mind your own business!!
Did anyone else freak out a bit on the mama and baby bear photo when they saw it was taken with a 70-200?!? Photo was cool, but no way it was worth the risk (unless that was in a zoo or something)
I didn't set the world on fire but didn't get my photo torn apart either. As an early stage photographer that's a win in my book! Thanks for letting me submit my photo! Keep it up Jared!
No. 5 (woman reading with dog on the steps etc) I think they nailed the colours/tone and it's got context. The framing is spot on. It is the one that stood out for me when you went through the "top 7"
i took the pic of the girl at the protest 28:50 , just for context, it wasn’t set up at all, i got the picture on accident and really liked it personally. appreciate the feedback!
This was such an informative video. Hope this can be a monthly occurrence! Really enjoyed watching you process all these phots and share your thoughts!
I would really like if you had a theme for these episodes. For example landscape, portrait, architecture, etc. That could help to have a better comparison between a "good" and "bad" picture.
5 of the girl on the steps is definitely my favorite. I feel like everything is right with it and if I took that shot that I wouldn't have asked for anything more
People complaining that the 'story is missing' behind some of their photos... isn't the photo supposed to tell the story without words? Isn't that sort of the whole point of a good photograph?
My favorite is the photo of the fox at sunrise. Sure, I may be a little biased because that was an adorable fox, but the colors and composition were gorgeous.
5 Woman, dog, building (library?). Classic. Looks like everything included and their locations were intentional. Balanced. Looks like it was slowly and deliberately painted. The opposite of a quick snapshot or of a bit of timing luck when doing spray and pray. Many other good photos here, but this is the one that I want to look over for much longer.
Thanks Jared, I submitted the picture of the Miami Dade Fire Rescue helicopter, dropping the firefighter. Took your advice...and absolutely FANTASTIC!! Got the rotor blur....thank you!!!!
For me, photo 1 was outstanding. I told a story of that child in the setting/world, it told us something about his emotion or feeling in the moment, perhaps being nervous just peeking out from behind the door to have a look. It had a great crop/framing and technically accurate also
Number 6 is my favorite. It has a story. I enjoy world-building and attention to detail in any art form for me: images, fashion, film, poetry- there just needs to be more, or I get bored. but number 6 held my attention the longest.
Your videos are very good. I have no idea what kind of drugs that you are on or which drugs you have quit. But I want to start using the drugs you use and stop using the drugs you have quit!
I would like to personally shout out the guy who submitted the pier with the lighthouse. I did some math and the exact photo location was 43.056111°N, 86.249722°W. Likely taken in march when the water levels in lake Michigan are the lowest. I instantly recognized the Grand Haven Lighthouse because I lived only 4 miles from it. What a small world.
I submitted the Civil War soldiers. You’re right, the black and white hits better, but I still like the color but it’s all good. You liked it. You really liked it. I feel all Sally Field right now 😂
I love number 3, it's the one I would most like as a picture on my wall, and it's also a picture anyone could take if they were passing by at that particular time of day, most of the other stunning ones grab a lot points from location or stunning natural occurrences 🤷♂️
I like the little boy peaking around the door. I was too late submitting my photo. The one I was going to submit had a watermark and I knew you'd frown at that.
5. But that's from the pics you chose. You've skipped by some that I would like to look a little longer at, because there were so many pretty ones. Makes you wanna go out and shoot. It's 1:30 am though
Lol I like how your like don't get up set if I skip. While on mine. But then called it beautiful a second later. Made my day. Also the camera and specs on the photo are Canon rebel t7 with a 75-300mm at 300mm f5.6 1/125 iso 200. If anyone is wondering.
I really liked the snowy mountains. My image of the woman JUST made it to the "semi-finals" but then got cut from the list. I can live with that since I see what it was competing against.
( @45:51 ) I'll do it in order 1,5,2,7,4,6.. I'm not to keen on b&w's because you want show as raw of image as possible and color part of that if has be B&W then there's something off and you trying get rid of it by going B&W that's why... oh Jared I think people using auto in light room I notice exposer tad strong in Lr also I don't like how they crank up the shadows and lower highlights I mean why? If you want bring up shadows bring up through highlight it has almost same affect it just your more in control of light source.. if it still to dark just bring up shadows after playing with highlights and exposer. Reason you bring out the detail that shadow trying make it pop like kids face and feet in photo one..
I have to go with 4, the magic of the Northern Lights gets me every time. While many of those capture your attention, I feel that the Aurora Borealis is the one where I would find myself in front of as if I was imagining being there. Good job to everyone 👍

Jared, what software is been used to edit photos? Big fan and leaning a lot from your photography knowledge.
Some photographers think that you should get the shot from the camera not the effects afterwards. Is that what these people are doing they're not using after effects? Whatever you call that? wow, that's pretty amazing, thanks for sharing!!!
Congrats! 😊
Thanks guys!
Powerful! Congratulations and thank you for sharing!
Love that photo! Great emotion. Congrats
1, 5 and 7 were my favorites. 1 has a story, 5, is a peek into the person's quiet time and 7 has a sense of our desire to lear a universe that is sooo big and full of adventure.
1 - The innocence of the kid - the way he is hiding and the photographer captured the curiosity of the kid in one split moment.
5. I’m a sucker for amazing lighting and I just love the way everything comes together.
Thanks Jared, I submitted the landscape on Lake Michigan with the lines you liked. So much appreciate the feedback man, and thanks for doing what you do!!!
#5 with the columbs is probably my fav out ALL of them. The light is just perfect for that composition and makes it look almost painterly
I submitted the photo at 17:11.
Thanks for the positive critique, Jared! 🤙🏻
Much appreciated.
it's a good picture because it's almost like those two cats were discussing some business behind those cars when you found them and the main cat lookin at you like mind your own business!!
@@user-pe8ir4iy1e well that's basically your own projection, i don't see that scenario at all :D
1 for the Story
2 for the Timing
7 for the Effort and Location
Did anyone else freak out a bit on the mama and baby bear photo when they saw it was taken with a 70-200?!? Photo was cool, but no way it was worth the risk (unless that was in a zoo or something)

"There were boobs coming up next but I'm here on a rabbit."
This is why I'm subscribed. You're too funny Jared, great review.
#4 Hands down!!! It captures the magic of the Northern Lights in the most accurate AND best way! Love it!
i took the pic of the girl at the protest 28:50 , just for context, it wasn’t set up at all, i got the picture on accident and really liked it personally. appreciate the feedback!
They're all beautiful, but #2 with the jets stands out to me as the best of the best. Truly a work of art
Good to see my favourite of your content back! Looking forward for next video.
As said above. 2 for timing and 7 for effort. Well done all.
I love number 4...The Norther Lights it's just amazing how he captured it, it's the perfect...Something id always love to go see and witness in person
Northern * sorry NY fat fingers 😂
This was such an informative video. Hope this can be a monthly occurrence! Really enjoyed watching you process all these phots and share your thoughts!
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it.
I would really like if you had a theme for these episodes. For example landscape, portrait, architecture, etc. That could help to have a better comparison between a "good" and "bad" picture.
Thank you for you kind comments on my photo (39:05) and I am really happy with how you reacted :D
I never would've understand photography if I haven't seen this video. It's just changed my perspective. Thanks:)
5 and 6 are my favorites , I just love pictures in which you can uncover some hidden details and subtilities in the composition .
5! all the way! love these videos Jared, keep them coming! thanks!
5 of the girl on the steps is definitely my favorite. I feel like everything is right with it and if I took that shot that I wouldn't have asked for anything more
1 and 5... a tie! 1) the boy and the door 5) The dog and girl reading. Thanks for showing mine!!! ( the hair cut )
People complaining that the 'story is missing' behind some of their photos... isn't the photo supposed to tell the story without words? Isn't that sort of the whole point of a good photograph?
My favorite is the photo of the fox at sunrise. Sure, I may be a little biased because that was an adorable fox, but the colors and composition were gorgeous.
well looking at your name and avatar, no surprise :D
I love the kid looking from behind the door and the girl reading book, one of them, great work
yup me too. exactly those 2
5

Thanks Jared, I submitted the picture of the Miami Dade Fire Rescue helicopter, dropping the firefighter. Took your advice...and absolutely FANTASTIC!! Got the rotor blur....thank you!!!!
Maybe more blur, but I think if you could have completely stopped to rotor completely, that would be tits, but real hard photo to do.
The Jared giveth, and the Jerad taketh away ;-) Thanks for the shout-out!!!
28:43 whyd you skip me? Roast that bear after the nude lady rant 😂
haha
The bear was a nice shot.
5, the girl and dog in stairs... only because you discarded the cats...best for me.
For me, photo 1 was outstanding. I told a story of that child in the setting/world, it told us something about his emotion or feeling in the moment, perhaps being nervous just peeking out from behind the door to have a look. It had a great crop/framing and technically accurate also

I just love looking at photographs.
5 !!! it Blows my mind !! Congrats, there were many nice pictures.
VOTE #1
5!!! Girl with dog in the archway with the sunbeam!
I like 5 the most but 6 and 7 also stand out to me. Great selections and suggested edits in this video.
Your videos are very good. I have no idea what kind of drugs that you are on or which drugs you have quit. But I want to start using the drugs you use and stop using the drugs you have quit!
I submitted the fox you thought was shot at sunset but was actually sunrise. Started taking pics over the pandemic.
My favorite was the one with dog/guy in between the pillars!
#1 & #5 - love them both can't choose
Number 5 and 6 are my favourites. I would go with 5 this time.
Thanks for picking my aurora photo! Great video!
Thought I recognized your name. 😂
44:26 I thought that image in the thumbnail look familiar! Scioto mile in Columbus, Ohio.
7 - The boy behind the broken door. It is compositional, sharp, color is correct and tells the story.
Thank you for picking my cityscape photo. I personally like 4!
I like your instinct for composition.
They're all good, TOP 3...1. The steps and columns grabs ya, 2. Boy peeking around the door, and 3. Gorilla...Heck, I liked them all!
A little Boy peeping by Ryan Little is the winner for me.
I submitted the Civil War soldiers. You’re right, the black and white hits better, but I still like the color but it’s all good. You liked it. You really liked it. I feel all Sally Field right now 😂
Andy, your photo was a Top 5 favorite of mine but only in black and white.
I think #1 is the best ;)
I love number 3, it's the one I would most like as a picture on my wall, and it's also a picture anyone could take if they were passing by at that particular time of day, most of the other stunning ones grab a lot points from location or stunning natural occurrences 🤷♂️
number 5 for me, The steps and the columns
Nu. 4 was my favorite, but 1, 5 and 6 were very strong favorites. I got the feeling that Jared's favorite photo was number 6.
I liked the green aurora, and the Art Museum photos.
I think 1 and 5 are spot on. I would pick 1 because It is more my style.
All fantastic shots, but I think #7 is my favourite of the bunch!
#4 the stunning Aurora
Spot on! Toss the Artsy McFartsies out of judging!
I’d say #5 was the winner, but you are right, they all were great images!!! Thanks
6, hands down. It doesn't just draws you in, it also tells a story using colors, lightning, composition....it's just eh best of the 7 for me.
1 is incredible
liked after you sang "you've got another thing coming"
Lol I like how your like don't get up set if I skip. While on mine. But then called it beautiful a second later. Made my day.
Also the camera and specs on the photo are
Canon rebel t7 with a 75-300mm at 300mm f5.6 1/125 iso 200. If anyone is wondering.

Number 5 for me is the winner, love the composition

Photo 1 is my vote for winner
The boy behind the door, my personal favorite
Cat by the car was my favourite.
I’ll have to watch this after work
5 ......but 3 is home.
1 and 6 are my favorites but number no. 6 has to be the winner here
I really enjoy these videos. Thanks!
I’ll get your attention one day with my photo. Thanks for reviewing
I love 5.
5 for me by a mile, it hit me every time you flicked past it. 1 for second place.
Hey, that's Columbus, OH shot from Main St. Bridge at 18:00 !! I've taken that shot, but at night! :)
Number 1 and 7
Definitely the best
Thank you for the pointers
6, 1, 5, in that order, mainly because its not the location that is important (but it helps), it was how it was shot/processed.
Photo 1 has my vote! All are beautifully captured, though.
My body is ready for this video
I have to go with 4, the magic of the Northern Lights gets me every time. While many of those capture your attention, I feel that the Aurora Borealis is the one where I would find myself in front of as if I was imagining being there. Good job to everyone 👍
Girl reading is by far the best
Very useful critiques even when not agreeing. Thanks!
5. I absolutely love number 5...
That picture with the columns is great
I like #5 the best from the chosen ones.
That cat pic was just gnarly.
