Easy. Just go to the side and NEO will follow to the same side. You may also set it to follow on high and it should be above every human on bicycle. Also you may be connected VIA app and tell neo to go higher but there may be trees

I've tried a Neo using a phone. It definitely needs a cinematic mode, I just couldn't get close movement to a subject at a slower speed. I know the new Hoverair Pro Max does have this mode

The only way to really do that would be using a controller so you can use the full fly app and active track. But the tracking speed is not terribly fast so there’s probably better options for tracking cars.

Because of the auto exposure, you could see on the video that the change of light blew out the exposure so the tracking was lost and you'd have to backtrack for the Neo to reacquire you. Whether having manual exposure would help with this I don't know, but it would be really useful to be able to hard set manual exposure on the Neo itself for these auto tracking modes without phone or controller connected.
Indeed, I have experienced that myself with my original tracking video that I uploaded last week. It lost me in the sunlight. It’s a problem with visual tracking across the board. I’ve had my mini 4 do the exact same thing. Would be nice if they introduce some form of beacon that would help maintain connection. Or perhaps they would let us use our smart phone as a beacon of sorts.

If the drone loses you during tracking, it sits there and hovers right? I wonder if someone else is to get into VLOS if it will start tracking that other person? I am yet to buy one just curious to know if losing it could lead to the drone tracking someone else?
That is an interesting question. I’m not quite sure what it would do. I was tracking myself with a friend biking the other day, and it did stay locked onto me even when he turned off it continued with me.

@ronsuriano I'm sure someone has done it by now. One youtuber complained it couldn't do it with the phone or by itself. Logically, it makes sense. You have it track a vehicle using your phone and it's out of the 50 meter range in no time.

I think it flies slower because it has to predict which way you’re returning. It does a pretty good job if you twist your body one way the drone will go in that direction. Other than that, I’m not sure why.
Yes, it has an option called direction track, which will basically track from the front, but it only works well when you’re walking or hiking in my last demonstration I tried on a bike and it can’t fly very fast

Put a camera on a stick and see how fast it will go then. I'm sorry but these speed tests are silly. Just go a bit slower. And although I may buy a DJI Neo, the shots I want are from a distance with the landscape in view. That is only possible with follow-me. Not with optical tracking. Hopefully Maven, Litchi or Dronelink will work with the Neo soon to unlock it's full potential. Without GPS follow-me it's a crippled product. Or you just fly it manually with the controller like everyone cycling around the world. Nobody uses DJI's active-track. Not that I am against optical tracking! It's great to get certain shots. Especially spotlight and so on. But it is not a replacement for follow-me. Problem is DJI people have no idea how much more user-friendly, more reliable, safer it is in real life.
Neo is cheaper, doesn’t require a controller, and can fly FPV. It can also probably handle crashes better than the Mini 4 Pro. There’s benefits to both
Actually, this follow is better in my opinion than the mini 4 pro. Smoother and less micro corrections. On top of that these are ducted props so you don’t have to worry about damaging the drone if it hits a branch or a tree if it does hit something usually just bounces off and keeps on flying Only downside is mini 4 pro has better quality video. On top of that you don’t need a controller. You can pull it out of your pocket and have it up in the air within 10 seconds following you

Might lose you instantly on app or without connection as it will not see you. Maybe if you have a car without a roof?

I don’t think it would affect the speed much. It does affect battery life slightly in this demonstration I wasn’t using the prop guards
Question: Do you know if the drone will continue to follow instead of stopping when using the remote?
It’s just visual tracking as well so if it loses the subject visually it will stop.

Why is it capable of going faster when following you using Follow or ActiveTrack but can’t go as fast when it’s in front of you using DirectionTrack?
