From my perspective, I have always tried to compose music with the mentality of something like a rollercoaster. If I have an ascending portion of the song, I try to make sure to have a descending portion to "even out" the song and make it feel whole at the end. It's a challenge to do some times, but I have found that just tweaking passages within the song creates something unique.
Thanks so much for such a great feel into the intro! That made my day! I took the chords and play arpeggios base on that! For me the most important point was to focus more or drum and rythm and pulse and play around with that! that is such a great fun!
Good advice Andrew, about taking breaks. So far, I have experienced drooling like a slobbering child, almost fainting from forgetting to breathe, and sore jaws from clamping down into a war face from concentrating too hard.
It’s been about 6 months that I have been following Andrew. He’s amazing and I subscribed to his lesson plan and voraciously consume his handouts. Playing guitar is not easy and it can be frustratingly slow but the motivation and excellent direction from Andrew consistently makes me feel I doing appropriate exercises to continue to develop.
yes great advice...especially the break part...ive noticed if i take a few days off from playing...i come back and play better than i did...and i play better after i sit back and learn by looking at diagrahms of the fret board and studying it.
Thank you Andrew. Everything you say in this video is true. Especially the last point on stepping away from practice for a break. Sometimes I have to take a break from guitar for a few days because of life. When I come back everything I was practicing seems to come back better and easier. Keep up the great videos!
The MAIN points of this video are: • Develop an obsession for music and the guitar • Your personal belief system must say, "I want to be the best player I can be" • 10x better comes from high-level commitment • Consider more options for how you think about music and practice • Learn ways of avoiding things that don't matter (i.e., excessive TV watching) • Incorporate breaks for 2-3 min. so you can walk away and clear your mind
To what u said bout having a l9ve 4vtha guitar..I did that..if I hadn't ..I'm pretty sure I wouldn't b here..I gave up tha needle 4 tha guitar and my love 4 playing guitar..and your videos has pushed my skill level further n further
I was trying out a guitar the other day at the store. Pretty much forgot to play. Embarassing. Had a 5k guitar too. What are some tips so I don't freeze up?
Play the day-lights out of what you're going to perform in front of others. And, do mock performances at home (imagine that you have an audience in front to you). Visualization of a crowd goes a long way to building confidence. Also. find others that can perform with great confidence and mimic their style of playing live!
I am the CEO of a Music School Startup in Brazil and I really like the way you think about learning music. I would like to speak with you about the possibility of partnering to motivate and show a new perspective to our students.

I know! We can get WAY too locked into what we're practicing! Take Breaks!

Great concept really looking forward to this series.
Glad to hear it!
Ok. You are a teacher that I feel in tune with. I want to develop the electric guitar style to add to my classical background
💯
I still struggle to organize my practice time. I always go straight up to play the parts I know, but I don’t improve enough that way.
Me too. I'm going to try making a list and work off of that each day. I did that with my exercise routine and it helped a lot.
One of the best teachers because he is clear and doesn't show off.
Andrew, what do you normally have your amp settings at when you make your videos? Great clean tone.
All settings are very mid-range EQ's. The mixing board for the mic on that amp is tube so it adds a lot of depth to the recording!
Thank you for your neat demonstration
💯
Great video. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Great video! Tips and technique Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Purposely screw up. Sounds kind of odd but when you realize the crowd really doesn’t give a damn if you screw up, that fear melts away.
