Until I knew the backstory, I was like "eh, pretty good." After knowing the back story, I tear up with joy every time I hear that lick and "Breaking New Gate." About the only thing I appreciate Facebook for...to think , we could have been stuck with "Dance-Maid" 🤣

Interesting note on this song. There was a big push on to get Thrill to 20 Million views by the time of their Yokohama Arena show. Well, we didn't make it by that show, but perhaps more appropriately, it hit the 20 million mark on December 26th - Boxing Day. The day where traditionally gifts are given to servants and Maids. K-Ross, great reaction, yeah, no brainer! I absolutely love song for many reasons. 1 - it's just plain BADASS! 2 - It's the song that let me find them and 3 - It's the song that saved Band Maid. Their management was going to cut them loose, this video was the last budget they were going to get. But it hit big and the rest is history Po!
It is quite enjoyable to see the maturing of this band. Roughly 10 years between the Thrill MV and the live version. Saiki's voice, Miku's voice, the 3 instrumental warriors, ahhhhh, so good. We are lucky.

That intro was fire. Always enjoy the BM reactions and others but BM especially. But that "opening scene" of BM was EPIC. You somehow captured each of their personalities in seconds. AWESOME. (Even better with their anime characters!)
`Thrill` will always be special to me being the first song I heard from the Maids, just like `You` as the first self-written song by them, but they have SO MANY amazing songs I find it impossible to pick a favourite, so my list ( if I had one ) would change constantly! This is the song I found by accident that fateful night late Spring/early Summer of 2017. I wasn't looking for them, had never heard of them. But UA-cam suggested a video called Thrill by a group called Band Maid. I decided to take a chance. If it sucked, all I've lost is 4:11 of my life. Click. Play. BOOM!! It didn't suck, it kicked ass. And this aging rocker (60 at present) who had given up on ever finding a new rock band that I could really like again was hooked instantly. 30 seconds in, mind blown, life changed! Turns out Roger Daltry was right after all. Rock wasn't dead, it just moved to Japan and put on a Maid's outfit Po! Thanks to these 5 talented amazing ladies, I am a born again Rocker!! Kuruppo!
I'm not a metal maniac, rather as a hard rock junkies. Years a go a friend suggested me to listen to some J- rock bands (incl. B-M, Lovebites, Nemophila etc), and I wasn't impressed, until I found 'Without Holding Back' MV a hardrock instrumental. It drove me to hear more B-M in streaming. I remember exactly, the first song is 'Unleash' and I thought 'it's too metal for me', but the 2nd one was 'Thrill' which made me thrilled!! Instantly I fell in love with them..and still do.
Just the fact that there is an online live kind of speaks for itself. It is a great song loved by maidiacs and I like it. Is it my go to song? Not really, but I like to listen to Band Maid per album and so much have changed with them writing there own songs. I was introduced with the MV for Manners and no other song may have taken me on board like that; and yet it stands on the same album with giants like Why Why Why, Giovanni and Black Hole to mention a few. Thrill is a great song and to many it is it a beacon in their musical journey like Manners was to me. Have fun! :)
I got to see that live version when it streamed, every song on that live stream is awesome. And aug 10th, a couple days ago they did another live stream acoustic performance and it is incredible as awesome as the last one(Saiki sings choose me playing the piano solo herself, and later a 5 part harmony from them and saiki again on piano with all of them). I have seen them live also but I think it is great they are still doing live streams. Thrill is just a great rock song. The comparison from the original to them after years of experience shows how solid the song is, It is one of those songs that will always just sound great.
Yeah, agreed... her look is away from what she's doing on the drums straight into the camera, like... "I could probably do this with one hand... possibly in my sleep." She does so much more difficult stuff now; she's come such a long way since then. I mean... she was good then. Great now.

As all fans know, this Official Music Video saved BAND-MAID from the brink of dissolution and began the story of BAND-MAID as we know it today. Thrill was not even the A-side of a single, and at this point, BAND-MAID itself was not allowed to write lyrics or music. A comparison with the song on the A-side of this single, Love Passion Matador, shows that at this early stage, BAND-MAID was already diverse. I still love both songs.

MISA MISA MISA!!!!! Thrill would sit about 3rd or 4th in my ranking so far probably that high cos of the Back Story they still haven't found their sound yet heaviness yes but not the groove.
I'm not a big fan of Thrill. Yeah, I know it was their first hard rock song, it saved the band, all that. It bores me. The plodding tempo, the simplicity, the playing that has neither technicality or feel - apart from the solos, which are merely serviceable. Made in Japan's songs also lack complexity and technical flair, but perhaps they make up for it in energy and slightly riskier songwriting. The next one is Freezer, isn't it? There may be an upset.

As important as this song is to Band-Maid's legacy, "Thrill" isn't even in my top 25. Such is the quality of their discography.
Yep, completely agree with this. It's more significant than it is great for me. There's stuff on Maid in Japan I prefer.
For me it's one of the worst of their catalog, but still a pass. After all, it was thanks to this song that they moved on to pure hard rock!

I like Thrill, but it is still not "Band Maid". That happens with the next batch with Real Existence, Non Fiction Days, and Freedom.
