  • Together with ARPAS-UK and UASolutions, let’s walk through a practical example in conversation with Nathanel Apter of UASolutions, who has been advising operators on how to get approvals from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation using SORA. Nathanel has also been part of the JARUS task force behind v2.5.
SORA stands for "Specific Operations Risk Assessment". It is a safety methodology developed by a group of international experts, JARUS, to assess and mitigate the risks of drone, or UAS, or Uncrewed Aerial Systems, operations in the Specific Category.
In the UK, the CAA announced that they would be adopting a UK version of SORA v2.5 and the CAA is in the process of developing that UK SORA. It will be subject to consultation. Remember that PDRA01 holders won’t be directly affected because their OA is pre-defined, but non-PDRA01 authorisations, like OSC, will eventually follow UK SORA. Plus: SORA may open opportunities for all in the specific category.
Speakers: Nathanel Apter, UASolutions CEO & Anne-Lise Scaillierez, CEO of ARPAS-UK.
