The snare drum is called the treble companion and is played in conjunction with the big drum. The high notes that the bass drum does not have can be supplemented by the high notes of the snare drum.

Well then! Beautiful stuff. Since you obviously know what you are doing, I had just purchased my first drum in the key of C. I did notice more "D Keys" available though. Did I mess up with that choice? Wondering your thoughts.
