Then spread it like the wildfires engulfing US & Canada too. Make it rush into ears like the flood waters alternately plaguing the world. Deforestation is the cause. Clearcut logging must be stopped in Canada or there will be no fresh water, no fertile conditions to grow food, nothing to prevent carbon from acidifying the ocean. Of course, petroleum use must also end, as it is poisoning our bodies daily, even as i tap these plastic keys with my warm sweaty bare hands. Yeah, we must restore balance to Turtle Island
This soulful speech is even more relevant today than it was when it was delivered by Chief Seattle in 1852. Every time I truly listen to it I am moved to tears. If only everyone believed in Mother Earth as the Chief and I believe. Till the White Buffalo returns ................................................ Tony Brophy Live in love.
This breaks my heart. I've grown up with and around Natives, and around/on reservations. I consider the native culture, at least by adoption, partly my own. On behalf of my ancestors, I am so, so sorry.
Well at least the ponies were brought over by the Spanish, but otherwise yeah modern Western culture is messed up structurally. I don't idealize native cultures - the Aztecs ruined Mayan culture by bringing pederasty via the God Chin - but still nonwestern cultures were better overall.
@@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 I think you'll find it was a combination of other factors: deforestation, climate change, drought, overpopulation, overuse of the land, warfare.
Love to the world
Thank you - thank you very very much. It has opened my eyes in many ways. Made me ashamed to benefit of western ideology. Thank you once again for posting - it's a very touching speech with a lot of wisdom. Ranjeeva
*_Could you imagine the deep heart felt pain being the most beautiful bravest loving trusting honest wise people this world has ever produced, caring for Mother Earth and realizing her wonder like no others.. then watch it stolen plundered trapped enslaved poisoned murdered Killed before them.. friends family wildlife.. their Children! I know it, how defeating the hope. Why the beautiful gets constantly destroyed again and again, and war still goes on. Stupid mankind. The brutal on top, and where is God's justice? To preserve the earth and what is good, why not more men joining in to protect the earth and the people for God's sake? Too sad.
How can I not feel and understand what Chief Seattle had in his mind when he wrote his letter. The concept of selling the earth does not exist in the native American tribes. We belong to earth, instead of selling, renting or destroy it, why not stop the nonsense, where ever we are, embrace what we have the air, the water, the soil, the natural resources and protect them like part of ourselves, is it hard to do it? I do not think so, Chief Seattle wrote that letter for the President at that time, but he wrote also to next generations after him and us today. Thank you you tube for sharing it with Facebook and Twitter and messenger groups.
"Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. " I've studied western philosophy for a few years now and this is easily one of the most profound thoughts I've ever heard/read.
My heart is so with this speech all the way. Thank you, Chief Seattle, you have passed on so much to all mankind. We love the earth just like you, and it pains me to see what is happening to her even in these later days. If feels as though God has forsaken her, and the evil man runs away with doing more harm than good. A very sad, but beautiful goodbye.
A history of a world and a people gone under the greed and blindness of white men. The american dream is the nightmare of mother earth and its loving children.
It pains my heart to see that so many of you are closed books. Open up your hearts to these words of wisdom. Mutual respect for one another and this Earth that we were given to care for (not own) is what you need. You have not woven the web but are merely a strand in it. A strand connected to all other strands. I pray that you awaken one day to see the beauty and strength within each and every one of you. A small candle can penetrate the darkness. Let us be many candles and a great light.
The original and and native people all said it around the world each native tribe believed in saving all the living matter of this earth we have continued to avoid and ignored their voices and gain so much of wealth through causing suffer and pain to all living matter.

the one thing that always stuck with me was when a native chief said they could drink from any lake, river, or stream until the white man came. money is the root of all evil. it's behind all of it.
it is said that chief Seattle could not have known about the buffalo because the buffalo are too far east. Please google Chief Kwahs dagger and you will realize how first nations peoples used to share before contact. wheather he wrote this speech or not who cares you can't base the fact on that he didn't know about the buffalo because marriages were used in trade relationships. the carriers of the interior of bc knew of the coastal people and of the cree's across the rockies (there is a word for coastal people and cree people in carrier). So what I am saying is it is not safe to assume that chief seatle did not know of the buffalo especially at that time where in America a lot of native people where being displaced and moving further west. The only way you could prove that he didn't know of the buffalo is if perhaps there was no word for buffalo in coastal languages which is hard to prove because a lot of the coastal language was lost when natives where trading with white people (HBC) or sent to residential schools and forced speak English.
@zzinglish53 Third: If you want to know what ails the planet earth there is no way around studying economics (contemporary mainstream economics (especially Keynesians), Socialism (as in Das Kapital), and free market economics (especially “Austrian” Economics)). As starting point I’d recommend Carl Menger’s Principles of Economics, Henry Hazlitts Economics in one Lesson and Thomas Sowell’s Economic Facts and Fallacies; Think for yourself who is right, I think it’s largely the “Austrians”..
@zzinglish53 Secondly: As nice as the speech is formulated it is full of romanticism, and gives the impression that Indians were super humans(especially because those words are ascribed to be said by them); As if they had no faults, lived in perfect harmony with every other creature on earth. For starters that also Indians are and were normal people with good and bad sides read this: Google for the Tom Woods article “were American Indians really environmentalists” and read the first link. ...
I am also thinking. On my channel "Steppenloewe1" (Lion of the step) I have posted some videos. The last is "footsteps/Fußstapfen" and is about a new way of thinking consistently. It greets Andreas.
Sorry for this bad wording and grammar. “As nice as the speech is formulated it is full of romanticism,..” Please read “As nicely as the speech is phrased it is full of romantic stereotypes,..”
This is not the original speech. This is the version that was written by Ted Perry for a film. Its nicely poetic but its not the original, To make a point The Salish did not hunt buffalo and the nearest Bison woukd have been a 1000 miles away for them to even have any knowlege of them. I think it is sad when we group people together that are really not the same. For example the Salish and the Lakota Sioux are both Native Americans but they are not the same people. They haven't same cultures.
@hogo1 well as a matter of fact they did know about theory of relativity, they just didnt call it that. if you actually researched the wisdom instead of just being closed minded and cynical you will find that a lot of native american beliefs, over many tribes believe in a unified field which is a kin with the theory of relativity. their calendar is far more complex and accurate that our shitty gregorian calendar. i can keep going on if you like? just set your misery aside and learn something
@zzinglish53 First: Isn’t it quite ironic to present “irrepressible” truth wrapped in a blatant lie, by putting those words a screen writer wrote a few decades ago into the mouth of native Indian who lived over a 150 years ago? So wouldn’t it be good if truth was really honored for what it is and the video author changed the title of the video or/and the description accordingly to e.g. “Screen writer Ted Perry’s speech, he wished was said by Chief Seattle”? Or is that too much Truth? ...
When a society cannot recognize wisdom such as this, that society is doomed.

Now covid 19 for not listening to our great chiefs and their knowledge! The protectors of the land who followed their instructions from the creator.!
