    It brings me so much joy to find something with this much price to performance value. Any other things that anyone can think of like this?

      I am using the XM8500 since years now and it never disappoints. Other nice value for the money products are Superlux headphones e.g. HD 660 Pro and HD 330 Pro.

      Not able to drive this to decent levels with Mackie Audio Interface 2*2 Producer. It max out at -30 to -24 Db. Is the 70DB sensitivity of XM8500 really true ?

    I love this mic while it's a little too muddy when I speak into it but I still love it not only is it cheap but it sounds amazing. I Also have the Rode podmic I love it but a little bit less as I think a sm58 or 48 would have suited me better but I'm not made I went with Rode as well

    • @villerasku

      Yeah the price is dirt cheap and for my purposes (a podcast I'm starting with a friend), it's easily good enough to get started with.
      I also love my little podmic. It sounds great to me and it looks so good.

    nice. Have you also tested the behringer SL 75 c? I thinking of buying on of them

    I have the mic and like it. But as I speak, the recording level in Windows 10 drops from 70 to 10. I tried all the standard fixes. None work. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the review! Please tell me what the gain value was set to Behringer UMC202HD? I have a Behringer umc22 and I want to understand if there is enough gain stock for this microphone

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  Рік тому

      Oh definitely. I can't remember what it was set to for the clips but I would say half way or less. Since the umc22 is basically the same thing as the umc202, it will work easily with it.

    What brand of xlr cable are you using? Is there a brand you can recommend that I will use for the podcast??

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  Рік тому +1

      I've used a lot of different XLR-cables and most of them were the cheapest brand I could find and I've never had any issues.

    It really seems like I should have just got one of these and save myself a bunch of money.
    I berhinger b609 already, some pyle dynamic handheld mic my band picked up in a set of 3 for around 70 bucks , a newer nw800 that I’m replacing with a donor DC20 condenser and a maono pd100 broadcast style.
    I guess it’s really easy to get sucked into the rabbit hole when you are trying to cut your teeth in new hobbies

    02:00 I have this mic and I don't think this is correct. XM8500 has even lower sensitivity than SM58, it's a really quiet mic out of the box. I have Scarlett 2i2 and I need to crank up gain up to 90% to make it louder and more audible. This interface has max gain at 56 dB I believe so it's almost at full load just to drive it, I didn't notice much noise floor increase though so that's good.
    The only fix for this some people recommend is using one of those attenuators or gain boosters like cloudlifter or fethead but then that defeats the whole purpose of getting most value for your money and you can just buy a better mic instead.

    I need your opinion. I need a xlr setup under 150.
    Im a streamer/youtuber. Right now, I can get a used goxlr mini with a xm8500 or a podmic/ elgato wave dx (same price) with teyun q12 (£15 audio interface which is apparently better than um2, umc22, m track solo and also can run an sm7b with max 60db). My budget includes the boom arm, the xlr cable and amy accessories like pop filter and shockmount. Both setups are equal to about £150. So what do you think and do you recommend anything else. I think the 1st setup is better for me because it has so much control for streaming with a decent mic and the other has good mic but bad control

    • @Leistonion
      @Leistonion Рік тому

      get the podmic with the teyun interface its the best option i reckon

    • @AutumnSky
      @AutumnSky Рік тому +1

      @@Leistonion any reason why it's the best option and what's better the podmic or the wave dx for streaming? Is the sm58 better than the podmic and elgato wave dx?

    • @Leistonion
      @Leistonion Рік тому

      @@AutumnSky honestly those are pretty similar sounding, unless you care very deeply for audio quality, if you wanna save money just get the xm8500, i have it, works fantastic, but you have to be really close to it to get good levels, the wave dx is probably the best for streaming, but the podmic is just really nice sounding, but if you dont really care much about all of that, the wave dx is pretty easy to use, honestly its not much of a difference, and ofc the interface is already quite nice and cheap, if you only care about streaming, get the wave dx, and the sm58 is great, but for that price point you might just wanna go with with the dx, so tldr get the elgato mic if you wanna stream a lot, its easy to use, and even the advertising is geared towards streamers with a decent eq

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  Рік тому

      Personally, if you care for the looks, take the podmic/wave dx route. Which mic you go for is pretty much up to you. They both sound great for streaming/youtube purposes so I'd say choose the one you like the look of. If you want the control the the GoXLR offers you, you can upgrade to a Wave XLR down the road.
      If however, you're fine with the look of the XM8500, then I myself love the physical sliders for my volume settings that I get with my GoXLR Mini.
      Either setup will give you good audio, but the question might be more on which do you plan on upgrading next, and whether you care about the aesthetics.

      @@villerasku i agree with this, wave dx looks much nicer on video, xm8500 sounds great but looks pretty bland

    I got this mic and other Behringer mics one supercardioid with blue rubber and the other looking like sm57. For me 8500 sounds the worst of them three. Its muffed and bassy. I much prefer clarity of the others. I think everything depends on the sound of your voice so one mic can be great for you but not for me.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  Рік тому

      That is very true. And on top of your voice, your space also has a lot to do with it unless it's perfectly sound treated.

    I dont think it was popfilter what helped. You dont speak directly into mic, but above. Before you were talking into it.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  Рік тому

      What was filmed was one of many tests. The sound difference happens with the application of a pop filter.
      While positioning of the microphone does always have an impact, the difference that you see in the video looks much bigger than it actually was.
      Good point though.

    It looks ok. WTF?! SM7B doesnt look any better.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  Рік тому

      Well that's a matter of preference. Many people think that the SM7B looks great. That's why even brands have tried to emulate its look in their later microphones.

    • @blackjohnny0

      @@villerasku I never in my life saw nice looking microphone. They are all just ok. Maybe MXL V67G or Stellar x2 with gold capsule. Or oldschool superlux mics, which looks like ring mics from 60's (WH5). But they are just slightly above just ok looking device. Just tool. Never understand you people. For me its just like sheeps run - someone told you that sm7b looks cool and you repeat without thinking. Whats cool about its appearance? Its ugly like most of mics. Behringer looks like typical one, one to which most of us get used to.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  Рік тому

      @@blackjohnny0 Yeah, I see where you're coming from. Don't understand the need to put people down for their opinions though.
      Personally, I think the SM7B is a good looking mic. There are plenty of better looking mics, but plenty of worse looking ones as well.
      But regardless, we all use and like the ones we do.
      I mean, someone somewhere thought that the Fiat Multipla was a car worth taking to production. So personal preference is crazy like that.

    • @villerasku
      @villerasku  Рік тому

      @@blackjohnny0 For me, the shape and the minimalistic color scheme. It's looks clean and elegant.
      If you don't think microphones look good in general, why would anything I say change your mind?
      If you only see a black tube, that's all good and we can leave it at that.
