Spain doesn't want tourists who spend a lot of money in their country, but instead wants illegal immigrants who cost them a fortune. How does that work?

@@alexmorgan3435 The only Spanish that want illegal immigrants are the filthy rich business owners exploiting for work by paying them a fraction of the normal Spanish wage( that is really low). Illegal immigration is a problem in every European country.

Migration from the African subcontinent is a huge problem. These are mostly economic migrants not asylum seekers. They are also mostly young men. It's happening all over the West. Managed migration is good, but this is out of control and has been encouraged by the EU, until now.

What is illegal is what in British law is called " benefits abroad fraud". Spain is the country with more cases of this kind of British crime. British citizens on benefits move to Spain illegally while renting in some cases their council flats illegally. Before you answer me I suggest you to check this information in Google. This kind of "tourism" is in part why Spanish people are fed up with tourism. They don't have much money and normally they live in caravan parks in places like Benidorm adding very little or nothing to Spanish economy

The tourists being harassed is getting world wide coverage and has definitely put myself and others I speak to off visiting Spain again. It’s so far to travel (Australia and NZ) and very expensive so looking for other destinations. We understand the housing situation etc as we have the same problem in popular areas but hope we never get to the stage where we attack guests to our country 😢
It's so rude to shoot someone with a water pistol. Very unacceptable and I hardly think it's very 'Spanish' even though I saw with my very own eyes Spanish women doing it in Barcelona.
Here's my plan, I get a plastic dingy from a tat shop, make my way north on Lanzarote, paddle across to La Graziosa, claim asylum, stay there the rest of my life.

Spain should look at what unchecked illegal immigration has done to host countries

@@therealkakitron So what do you think is the point of a digital currency and how is it different from from say cash? You can buy things, products or services with both right? But with cash a transaction is absolutely untraceable and a digital currency is traceable at every step. Just let that sink in for a few minutes and think what could be done with that sort of information.
Plus digital makes a donation to the bank with every single transaction. Why do we want to make the banks richer? That plus bank accounts can be closed and your money vanishes
@therealkakitron Already banks in the UK and the USA have canceled accounts (in good standing) because of "wrong" political views. "Social Credit" is already implemented under a different name. The Covid lock downs prove the reality that governments can declare a crisis out of thin air and simply negate any and all of the "inviolable" human/civil rights. Not that I really want to bother to answer the head-in-the-sand ostrich here, but give others reading the comments food for thought.
Immigration : If it’s getting bad and will continue to do so then Sanchez needs to face up and sort it out. Have a look at the UK, countries have to follow the same strategy as Poland.

UK government changing everything day by day and one thing in the press is this. The new government is debating means testing the state pension, so that retirees could get a lower sum if Starmer and Reeves decide they are earning too much or live outside of the UK and receive a private pension.
This would completely undermine the structure of the state pension, where how much you get purely depends on how many national insurance contributions you made during your working lifetime.
It means someone who qualifies for the full new or basic state pension may not receive it in practice.
This would be a radical change that would infuriate those caught. Unsurprisingly, the Labour Party didn't breathe a word about it during the election campaign.

Fishing vessels have mostly separate Angel coast guards and the navy is mainly concerned with saving lives these years.

I've seen first hand the disgusting behaviour of tourists in Spain, especially British ones. I've caught some out saying the most vile, disgusting things to locals that don't understand or speak English. One threatened to bash me , i put him to sleep with a right to the jaw.

We all know by now the growing discontent surrounding the anti-tourist movement. I've commented previously about this. I sympathise with frustrated locals but the their anger is misdirected and misconceived. Spain receives millions of tourists every year because they love the country. A tiny minority are complete arseholes. Speaking as a Brit, we have to put up with them all year round. In my experience most tourists behave themselves, enjoy Spain and inject an awful amount of money into the economy. Seriously, what's the problem? Every freaking country in the 'developed' world has a housing crisis. Get over it and stop blaming tourists.
I'm actually concerned that this anti-tourist movement is becoming an anti-outsider, semi-racist, angry mob and it's growing in a brainless popularity. Stop using the offensive word 'guiri' one and for all because it's not used in good humour but a snide negativity. Imagine if Spaniards were assaulted in London for the crime of eating in a bar. Those that did it would be accused of being 'far right' nationalists. I hate service charges in restaurants as a general rule. They usually only exist in high end restaurants and I have occasionally come across them in Spain in these sorts of places. I expect establishments like those to pay proper wages to their staff and not rely on customers to do so. If I dine in a fancy restaurant I expect good service. Owners say it's to be shared amongst all the staff (and that's not always true) but why am I subsidising their wages? High end restaurants should pay their staff properly.
Hi Suart. Interesting video. Thank you. I have come accros a few restaurants where a discretionary service charge has been added to my bill. In all cases I crossed it off the bill and explained that I would prefer to leave una propina. I never had any problems at al doing this. I would add that all these restaurants were higher end eateries and I never got asked for a service charge in any ordinary restaurant.😀👍
There's a very clear principle when it comes to service. First come, first served. It's the only fair way. People should not be allowed to jump the queue and that way there is no discrimination.
Yes. We had to pay a service charge in Los Palacios y Villafranca. First time we'd encountered it in twenty years here. Not going back there.

Thanks for your informative channel! I was thinking about the protests against tourists. First the protests should be directed at those who can and should have solved this problem Mr Handsome and not at those who come to Spain and waste their money. I am sure they will soon find new destinations.
Personally, I think that those who protest are extremely ungrateful, Northern Europe has saved Spain from bankruptcy twice in a short time, 2008 and Covid! It would be a nice gesture to pay back the money before protesting! Then if the tourists stop coming, it will have much greater consequences than just 14% of GDP loss. There are many more who are not included in that part... Construction companies, subcontractors etc. Guess that it would disappear close to 30% of GDP! Then the black sector that even if they do not come in as tax revenue, they come into the overall economy. So shut up whinging before it's too late! The lack of housing is not the tourists fault, but bad politicians!

In January 2025 there will be the annual Fitur Exhibition (International Tourism Trade Fair) in Madrid where almost every town with tourists will be promoting what they have to offer to tour operators, cruise companies, travel agents and hoteliers to encourage them to promote Spain for holidays. In the meantime we are having protests from locals across the country demanding that tourism is reduced. Any suggestions to resolve?

There were four to five people per square meter in the town hall square when the chupinazo. Tens of thousand run the bulls but hundreds of thousand visit Pamplona. It's not for everyone. A trick to recover and recharge batteries is going north of Pamplona in the morning. Just driving 20 minutes or takng a bus and you'll be into a thick fresh forest
That's what many locals do to recover from the hangover.

Even Canada closed the accounts of people who donated money to the truckers when they were striking there due to mask mandates. Although nothing similar has been announced in EU about such actions I wouldn't put it past politicians to do something similar for who THEY deem to be trouble causeers! The Spanish like the bitter 'torrefacto' type of coffee, and they balance that with the addition of sugar. You don't have to like it, but they are not going to change it for your benefit. Italian coffee is available in some supermarkets and online, so you could make it at home.
I have had some of the best coffee in Spain, loved it.
Yes, the "torrefacto" process is the culprit. I've been to Starbucks cafes in Madrid while on visits to Spain and enjoyed the flat whites, just like in the US.
If you make your own coffee, buy whole beans in the supermarkets. I've gotten Starbucks and the Italian brand Lavazza in small town grocery stores in Spain.
