Bless the person who filmed this speech. So wonderful to have it for all time. The speech was moving, inspirational and also I loved the subtle humor at points.
listening to this speech moved me deeply and made me cry at points as did the book itself. thanks so much to the person who recorded and downloaded this.
I have had the book for a couple of years and couldn't get "into it". It was recommended to me by colleagues and then was the book of the month for my reading group. I persevered and now can't put it down. What an incredible story.
Loved how well you explained the lifestyles of those times in Vienna in your book-my family were keen that I understand what happened to them and why my family are all over the world....
Reading The Hare with the Amber Eyes reminded me of this passage from Walter Benjamin: "Actually, inheritance is the soundest way of acquiring a collection. For a collector's attitude toward his possessions stems from an owner's feeling of responsibility toward his property. Thus it is, in the highest sense, the attitude of an heir, and the most distinguished trait of a collection will always be its transmissibility." It's an amazing book!
Thank you for sharing this video. Edmund's book is brilliant, funny, beautiful and at times sickening. I am grateful that he has researched and shared his family story. My grandparents lived in Bangalow, a small country town, where the numbers on the Post Office clock face were replaced with letters which read - "Lest we forget".

enlightening to have been a part of this ~ if only via UA-cam ~ thank you!
A wonderfully written and tragic story of one family and their destruction by an evil, all consuming political ideology but also a warning to us all.
Thank you for restituting this story.
