I'm at the exact same phase you are. Quitting the dye feels so amazing. I just think of all the money I have spent colouring my hair over the years. It's just a huge waste, like a terrible drug habit. You're always chasing the dragon! You colour it, and then it fades, you have to do it again three weeks later. You have to buy special shampoo for the damage, then touch up the roots, special conditioner to repair the ends, then it's too much work so you change it, then you start again. :O So happy to have broken the cycle.

Guys, I so wanna grow my hair out, I had my hair down to my mid waist and had to take 3 inches off yesterday because of the damage from coloring it last week. I so wanna let it grow but the problem is I'm having only 1 cm growth since it has only been 1 week since I colored it. I'm crying now cuz I had to cut the fried ends.

Not dying my hair was my new year's resolution, it's been 9 months and my hair has never looked better! I cut off all the color so its almost to the top of my shoulders but I literally had no idea what my natural hair looked like till I grew it out, which its a light brown/dark blonde color that looks really good with my skin/eyes, nature knows best!

Ive bleached my hair about three times and have dyed it red and then blue (which turned yuck green) so i decided to get it colored at the salon. They colored it a very pretty brownish, auburn color lol. That pretty color has faded to a light orangish/copper color. At that point, my hair is very damaged. I'm growing out my natural hair right now, and have been since last september I believe. My natural hair has grown down to my jawline. Ive been doing hair masks, deep conditioning treatments, and ive even tried biotin. My hair has been feeling much better and I'm very happy with its progress. Goodluck to everyone else growing their hair out!

I've been dyeing my hair a deep red since seventh grade and im almost 21, and a few months ago i got sick of coloring it too. I tried bleaching it to blonde(big mistake, i know that now) and tried fixing it by going a medium brown but it washed out into a nasty color. So i went back to the usual red because i had missed it but faced the same problem with my hair retaining absolutely nothing anymore, and my roots are barely visible and it looks like a lighter brown than i imagined.. but hopefully in about a year it will grow out to look as good as yours does! plus im kind of looking forward to having red-ish ends and seeing my actual hair color again! thanks for the inspiration to tackle this challenge!

since I was about 12 yrs old, I've dyed and bleached my hair... it was a natural routine for me up until January of 2014. in November of 2013, I bleached my hair and it looked awesome..... for about a week! then it was falling out... it was straw -like then in january, I dyed it brown so I can grow it out... like in ur video, that color just fell out... I had such damaged hair that even if I dyed it brown, it still had a bleached tone to it... so that's when I decided to stop dying it... for a long time it seemed like a hot mess but now all the color is out and I love my natural hair color.... about 2-3 weeks ago I just went in and told my stylist, "cut all the dyed hair off" she did and now I feel so good. ... all one color and I don't have to touch it up every month.... it's all me and it feels great! thanks for the video, it covered all that basically happened to me... 😊

Ever since I have started to take better care of my hair, less heat, no colouring, and regular trims. Thank you for being the reminder that no matter what anyone else says about my hair, its not their hair, I am the one who has to live with it so I will do whatever I want to it hehe. :)

Oh man...I was trying to find EVERYWHERE on the damn internet about dying hair back to natural....my hair looks pretty much exactly like yours, dark roots and the rest is a lighter brown....I just want to dye my hair back to my natural and never dye my hair again for a long time...I did it before and then had RED HAIR FEVER and decided to colour it...UGH....whyyy I spent SO much time growing it out!! Anyways, I'm just sick of dying my hair, it's so much less maintenance not doing it...so I just want to go back to my roots....I was thinking to just dye my ends but didn't know if I should.....THANK YOU FOR SAYING YOU CAN LOL I looked everywhere on the internet and couldn't really find a definite answer.....I know that the brown will fade at my ends again, but at least it will be closer to my natural hair colour and won't be so noticeable that I'm going to grow it out!

Amy Scott when I was in 10th grade I dyed my light brown hair blonde (it turned to yellow very fast). I then dyed it to my natural colour after the summer before 11th grade, but it lightened so much within a couple months. I was so sick of the blonde I dyed it black. I then just let the black grow. My roots looked awful and I was so self conscious at the time. But by grad I had my nice long brown hair back, and now I have a funny story

as im getting older, i think your natural color is the most beautiful and i think it makes people look younger.. ive only realised this after bleaching the shit out of my hair like 10 times, losing hair, snapping hair and when i looked back at those natural hair photos- i thought wow- look way younger! weve been so pressured to be other people we are not or to look a certain way... I live in france and many girls dont bother with the whole coloring- they are just naturally beautiful as themselves... me too-I want to experience being myself before I go grey!!! lol

Thanks for inspiring us. I have just decided this weekend to quit coloring my hair. My hair was very light blonde growing up, but after I got into my mid 40s it started to get darker, I have colored it several times, but it made my hair so dry and unmanagable. I want to grow my natural color, whatever shade of blonde that is so I can let my hair grow long again. Your video helps others to know what to expect as one will have two colors.

Thank you for making this video! Anyone reading this comment, I have been not dying my hair for one year now! It’s about half way to shoulder length so in about 2 years (just one more year for me) I will probably have completely natural hair! Regular trims are a life changer. I usually get the hair trimmed 2 inches or so every couple of months to keep it healthy. I did trim it about 3-4 inches at one point and I feel like that helps but I don’t like to go above the shoulders bc it doesn’t look good on me that short

Although my friends like the two tone colour in my hair i can't wait until my hair is back to being natural, healthy and long! Dying your hair is an experience all girls have at some point in their lives but i think the most important thing is to embrace the colour you already have and not worry about what other people think. I'm also growing out my natural hair color. The last time I dyed my hair was December 2008. I had just came back from studying abroad in Paris and I was inspired by the natural beauty of french women. They manage to be stunning in the most effortlessness way. My hair is pretty long now and only last four inches or so are "unnatural" The best part of growing out my hair is that I actually really like my natural color i used to think it was dull and dark but it's a really dynamic shade of brown.

Sounds exactly like what I had to deal with when I decided to grow out my natural hair. There's a few things you can do to make it less dramatic. You can use some Color Ooops to remove as much of the dark color as possible, that's what I did, but beware it turns the hair slightly reddish and doesn't get rid of old dye very well. Also, getting hair cuts helps too. I've been getting trims more frequently than normal. It can be done, you just have to bite the bullet. And it's so worth it.

I decieded to grow out the red, just to keep my fine hair healthier. The red washed out a lot and now it's kinda like a gold blonde. I bleeched my ends, so that I have ombre hair. Now, growing out my hair is no porblem. It looks absolutely fine and since Ombre hair is in trend, no one comments on my hair. Loved your vid!

My hair was a goldy super-light blonde, but it started to become darker when I was 12, so I started using hair dyes. I've been dying my hair for 8 years now. My hair color now is dark blonde or light brown (level 6, or that's what my hairdresser said) so I decided to go to my natural hair because it's a really beautiful color. I had highlights and a light blonde (orange... as usual) base color, and I dyed only my roots light brown almost 2 months ago and now the dye looks like an orange version of my natural color, but as I have ombre hair now (because I didn't dye the ends), it looks pretty nice.
Now, as I have loved the ombre hair style, I've decided that the only thing I'm going to do with my hair is that, I will never dye my roots again! and if I want to be super blonde again, I think I'll buy a wig.
PS: I hope that not to dye my hair helps it to go back to my natural wavy hair with extremely cute curly ends. It was awesome! :(

OMG! Mimi! This video was like you might as well have been the voice in my head!!! I pretty much went through the exact same thing you did. Decided to stop coloring my hair and grow it out, about a year and a half ago, after years of doing it. And you are right, there will always be those people that will HAVE to say something. But in the end, who cares? What matters, is that you stuck with your decision and the result is going to be fabulous! Love you lots! Keep the videos coming! xoxo

I decided the same thing 2 years ago and now I have long, healthy hair that is all my natural color. I'm so happy with it every time I think about coloring it I remember that it was really hard to grow out and live with for a year.

Hi, I LOVE your comment rules! I am growing out my natural hair. I am 43 and going a bit white. I love it, it looks like natural highlights. I haven't dyed my hair since our wedding re-enactment July 3 2015. I got tired of standing in the shower for 2 hours rinsing out dye. I would run out of hot water! I have mobility issues so I couldn't even stand. I bought a bath seat. The only reason I started dyeing my hair years ago was to get a silly man's attention. Big mistake. Plus I am tired of chemicals.

I have also stopped coloring my hair. It's been more than a year now. My hair was so, so damaged. I have it pretty much the same length like yours, but most of the color is at the ends. I am getting a trim tomorrow and I can't wait to show my natural dark hair to the world :)

Hi Mimi, I've just discovered you and leyla and all your videos so naturally I've subscribed and am saving up for my very own Luxy's. I just want to say thank for being such a beautiful soul. You have really inspired me to start to look after myself and take time to feel good inside and out. I have bipolar disorder and have let it rule my life for a long time and I found you and leyla just as I've decided to take more control of my life. So thank you for being beautiful, happy, healthy and insp

I've been growing out my highlights for 3 yrs now. My hair is about an inch past my shoulder blades and after my net trim I'll be dye free :D I just kept my hair up when I was out and about, and now Iwear my hair in a pony tail with the ends tucked up under my pony tail.. it's been a long haul... but so worth it! I can't believe how dark my hair is, and I have so many natural highlights, I get more compliments on my natural hair than I did when it was coloured.. Joy! thnx for the great vids :)

I've been growing out my bleached hair for 8 months now! I have 4 inches of beautiful healthy dark ash blonde/ mousey brown hair and couldn't care about the difference between the two tones. Only a few more months now till I can finally dye my old hair to match my new natural hair (: Yay! Thanks for this video! So inspiring to see so many women wanting to be natural beauties!

Thank you SO much for this video!! I am deciding to go back to my natural hair color after years of dying & your video was really helpful! Thankfully, I never went blonde or bleached but, I did go to a lighter brown & although I enjoy this lighter brown I'm sick of dying it every couple of months! It's time to go back to my natural color to get my hair healthier! Thanks Leyla!

i had been highlighting my hair blonde shades for a while and decided that it was too damaged and had too many split ends, so i stopped coloring it. i got low lights done in may 2010 and a hair cut to help start the process. i haven't colored my hair since then, and kept cutting the hair over and over by myself because i wanted it gone so badly. it has been now a year and three months since i last colored my hair, and i am happy to still get compliments on it. natural is the way to go !

It’s been 3 months since I colored my hair to a color more like my natural. I think I’ve grown around 3 inches or more! My roots are definitely showing lol hardcore. And the “natural” color I dyed it to has faded to a copperish.. especially in the sunlight. I’m hating my hair right now. But I’ve gone from black to blonde with the hair I have rn and I need this hair gone! It’s to damaged! I may decide to color again one day, but I’ll never go fully black or fully blonde ever again. And that’s my main advice. Highlights, sure. Playing around with dark blondes or dark brunettes, fine. But never fully go one way or the other haha

I got back my natural hair color after dyeing it with almost black permanent professional dye. I got it back with C vitamin and head and shoulders. I did that method for at least 5 times. After the first few I managed to fade out the black, but my hair was a faded red. My natural haircolor was mousybrown, so I kept doing the head and shoulders and vitamin c!! for me it was the full success. I managed to get my natural hair color back. I am so proud! I left in on my hair between 40 minutes and 1 hour. I left it once 2,5 hour, and it worked more, than when I left it on just for 1 hour. I used C vitamin ashes, not the tablets!!

I dyed and higlighted my hair a couple of times and hated it after a while. I now have my natural hair color back after about a year or so of having lighter brassy looking ends.... but I didn't care, I just let it grow and with my 6 month trims, its back to normal now. I love my natural hair! Its really worth it, in my opinion. The only thing is I've notice a few sparse gray hairs on my head and I don't know where and how they've come from- Im 22! Good luck ! xoxo

I did so too, but i coloured my hair darker, close to black, which had to be deceived by being bleached out - which was incredibly damaging. After bleaching it had a grey shade which again had to be coloured... But then, when my ear was finally 'going natural', too, I could see my natural colour which i coloured on my, after bleaching, slightly lighter ends. Now i have a straightener which produces Ions that keep your hair shinier and healthier and have repairing shampoos. What a difference now!

I have one year of growing my natural hair back. It was an interesting journey so far. I never wanted to give up even if I had some thoughts to paint it again. Only looking at my natural color, shine and healthy made me think that I will never paint my hair again, even if I'll have grey hair. I had all kind of colors during years, from black to red then black again, then again red, orange, bleachings....blond hair then black again. One day I decided to be natural, because no matter what color you put into your hair, you will never be completly satisfied, natural color can never compare with a painted- deteriorate- dry- ugly- painted hair. :)

i went though the same thing as you! when i was young about 15-16 i so wanted my hair cut short and high lighted at first i loved it and it felt so awesome! but then i got bored with the Color and wanted to go bleach blonde then i got bored with that and changed the color went through bleached blonde to black to brown probably every color thing is now im just like a brown/blonde and my hair feeeeels so dry its unreal because its been so damaged in the past plus it feels so short were its only just past my shoulders so iv'e decided iv'e had enough i want my natural color back to shiny and long and soft feeling! plus i miss my own color hair i have not seen it since i was 16 now im 22 so ive started to grow it out and its coming along nicely but seems ages since it will all grow out but im going to patiently wait for my soft shiny hair to come back no more hair dye!
