The racers that you are speaking of are top-level race teams. This is how they make their living. It should be open to any manufacturer in my opinion. The motor options are open to wide bore, std bore, LS engines, SB2 engines, and open on shocks as well. Why not open up the tires. Its not like supers can get more than a race out of them anyway. But for the crate classes and the limited LM classes YES put a tire rule in place and it should go to the brand that can offer the best value for the racer.
Hoosier is 250-260 where I live, I'm just a local racer, hard to afford it!! Some local tracks won't allow us to run American Racers. 80 $ to 100$ is a huge cost for us weekend warriors. No need in letting Hoosier dictate tires
Let’s not forget last year our year for last we had a tire shortage. It been nice to have another company in there. Wow how fast we forget when we have tires available but we were complaining when we didn’t
Back in the day we ran American Racers where they was allowed Winchester , duck river , thunderhill, hornwald, golden mtn and we loved them , and also JJ even if you get some AR ‘s for the trailer when you run them you saving your Hoosiers so it’s money you was going to spend anyway 👍
As an old guy who raced back during open tire rules. We leaned you match tire brand with the drivers style and tire compound with the track conditions. No need to carry different brands. I say open the tire rules up.
Competition is always good when it comes to stuff you use. Like Goodyear in nascar.. wouldn’t it have been great to run a different brand when Goodyears were being chewed up at Bristol?
You say American racers would cost more, but a lot of those guys aren’t running a bunch of different series like you guys. For someone with a commitment to that series, they are ultimately spending less with running cheaper tires..
I remember when IMCA switched from American Racer to Hoosier there being some harsh words about Hoosiers initially. Would love to see them open it up to allow both. Competition drives down cost.
I remember when Goodyear and AM were the series tires and you couldn’t cut them up at all. All these tire rules and everyone should be on the same thing, no cutting them up or soaking them up like Bobby
Easy solution...... whatever series your running need to specify what tire. Either they are an American racer tire series or a Hoosier series.if you want to run in multiple series then the racer will have to pony up for both brands.
This has been a circle for over 30 years when MCCRARY sd 38s and sd 44s were fast Hoosier came out with the d28 in the late 90s and Hoosiers were back on top it's a cycle that keeps repeating lol
From a local racer standpoint, AR tires (until either they raise the price or lower their quality) will be better for teams with less funds. Hoosier tires off there website without shipping is $223 (for all compounds) from what we have seen from our tests and walking pits at bigger shows tells our team that average life spand is one feature while AR is faster but also has a long life spand. Not to mention that AR tires from American Racer South (our dealer) are around $175 to $185, depending. Hoosier shot themselves in the foot with the NLM when the price went through the roof. The only big issue is that most southern tracks are Hoosier tracks. If you are a big team and have the money, sure get both, but AR has been the choice tires for local underfunded teams, and having big teams win big races on the tire will be better for everyone.
What dealer are you getting them from, I'm in south GA and having trouble finding them. I'm tired of paying $250-$260 a tire for Hoosier. I'm just a weekend warrior racer
@andydixon455 we use Cagle Racing Automotive LLC they are out of Hopkins Sc or American Racer South out of Brasstown, NC. There are smaller places around they have them, but it's hit and miss as they buy in bulk from dealers to sale
Wasn’t one of the focal points of the HtFSS to create an option for some of the lower budget super teams to run a series? Saving $60 a tire over an entire series season would definitely seem to meet that criteria/agenda/purpose! Don’t ban the option! 🏁🍪
It's no question that American Racer is better on slicker tracks. But just like all industries it's about name, image, and likeness. I belive we should allow whatever each racer chooses. That makes it fair and dependent upon whoever makes the right decision!
Here’s the deal. We need competition in the tire world. If you don’t allow competition it is free range for Hoosier to make a subpar product and sky high price.Yes you may have to have some of both but very simple economics says this is good for the racers.
Well years ago when Hoosier tried NASCAR it cost drivers life cause they were fast but not tested properly and blew so it was up to the series to make a choice and stick with it but if everyone is on the same tire then it's the setup and driver making the difference
As a fan I like tire options, as a racer I'd like just 1 tire. I think F1 does it perfectly, 3 tires(same company) and colors on the side tells the fans what it is
Thats great until one company dictates the price.. I worked for a team that won the 8 hour at Laguna and the tire bill was double what it was to win...
I run with the blue ridge outlaws we have to run the AR pro 2 or pro 3 in sc they are 175 a tire and Hoosier is well over 200 a tire if we run with ultimate or steel block bandits we have to be on the nlmt 3 or 4
If everyone has to be on a certain tire, then they may as well make it where everyone has to have the same engine and gear, too. I don't grasp the idea behind series pushing things like this. There is nothing wrong with wanting a fair playing field, so to speak, but at the end of the day, unless the supers want to be a Crate series, then politics needs to be pushed back. By the way.... keep up the great work Jonathan, Jessie, Joshua, Joseph, Jordan etc. 😀🏁
Oh my God I can’t believe you hung up the tires. Yes we got some tires also for our late that were stamped with right numbers burnt weren’t the same tire. Yes if you knew the tire you could get the tire if anybody wants to say they couldn’t bullshit we got them
Rather than thinking you need every tire ever made in your trailer at all times, narrow down where they work… you’ll probably see for example Hoosier on hard track, racers on wet… as a spectator, I’m down…. What if someone wins with a ford… 🤯
i ran Racer for years i always thought they were better but also won a lot of races on hoosier to i ran racer mostly because they were a lot cheaper back then and i could drive outside of Atlanta and pick them up from Jimmy Smith.Racer hard tires were always better and hoosier soft tires were always better
I don’t really get how it is any different than soaking tires unless they can prove American Racers wear identical to Hoosiers. Hypothetically American Racers could be identical to a soaked Hoosier on how they wear.
If American racer can sale a tire cheaper the Hoosier can too. If hope American racer makes a tire comparable no matter what Hoosier does and helps the race teams out.
They must have did alot of changes in compound i remember when McCreary sold out to American racer they were so hard you could not get any heat in them doing a burnout on concrete
If series would stop letting Hoosier boss them around for all the points money they offer maybe they could focus on making a better tire instead of bullying series and tracks around to run their junk tires all for the points fund money.
At $100 less a tire and it last more than one race I'd gladly switch to another brand other than the purple mafia. I love the pro2 and pro3 American racers.
@@jeremyfowler7505 First I don't base anything on what they say and are the tires your comparing the same maybe excepting compound ? If so what 2 #s tires are you comparing ?
Hoosier has a monopoly and needs to be challenged. I just wish american racer could be aloud to be used everywhere and could keep up with the demand. An almost $100 price difference will peak interest. Nlmt or lm's were always 2nd best to the economy (1300-1600) tires
What people fail to realize is that Hoosier Tire is owned by Continental Tire The decisions to make changes come from Hoosier and Continental But remember at the end of the day it's Continental's company Just saying
What is going to be the ruling on tire samples? I'm American Racer all the way👍🇺🇸 But if they compared a racer to a hoosier in the lab, it ain't gonna work out😕
Racers are their own worst enemy ... they complained about all these different tires they needed to carry depending on where they raced. So Hoosier puts together a tire deal where you can run the same tires all across the country and now in a certain area they can run a AR tire ... all this is going to do is make Hoosier make another "softer" tire so it will end up costing teams more money, having more tires in the trailer, and likely teams using more tires because they will all put on the softest tire they can even if that means putting 2 tires on for a A-Main to make a 50/100 lap race.
Is American Racers what become of McCrearys. Ran McCrearys in the early to mid 80’s. Cheaper and lasted longer back then. Car was a little on the loose side off but nothing that couldn’t be adjusted for.

American Racers soak better. they take the prep better when you pour 4 ounces of black sand into your tire put it in an oven or a hot box at 180 for about 20 minutes. Black sand is a tire prep you can get at bmi it’s made by track tack. Totally legal until it’s not
Having more than one choice is a good thing can increase quality just think if you could only have one maker of chassis or motor have competitive different options is far for all. That’s one of my biggest complaints about NASCAR they run different motors but the rest is single source on the cars there is no incentive to make a better quality part at a lower price that’s exactly why nascar isn’t as good or competitive as in the past. Case in point you never seen rims just rip in half as you do today the quality is not there and that is putting the safety of the drivers at risk with single source parts with no incentive to make a better quality part. So yes I am in favor of American racer all series should open competition up for both tire makers been seeing a lot of flats and blow outs from Hoosier the last couple years having options is good.
I like American racers I’ve raced on both and yes you gotta buy tires no matter what. So you split your tire bill and hat now you’ve got half of one half of the other you’re still spending the same amount of money you’re gonna spend money on tire bill tire bill is gonna probably be $20-$30,000 for the year not just a tad more, we spent 10,000 on the street go figure

In 2007 there was a startup Arkansas series I was gonna run with a few times that was American racer only, D55 equivalent, I never got to run with that series so I tried them out at west Memphis as it was Hoosier or AR, in the heat race someone slid up into me, touched the left rear with their side, finished the race and the tire went flat when I got parked.
