    I love playing fretless so much. I play a Fender jazz with TI flats. It's not as bright, but still sings. More like a baritone singing instead of a tenor. I can either use the bridge pickup for the tone we all know or use the neck pickup and play over the fretboard for a more upright(ish) tone. I did finally buy a fretted bass, though, which really solidified that I love fretless haha

      Forgot to say: that thing is a tone monster!!!!!

    I just bought a fretless for recording purposes (just a standard Fender jazz that I'm going to upgrade with some EMG HZ passives tomorrow). I will play some solos. I prefer the brigher tones on a fretless, so I'm not sure I would change the strings on your bass. It just get muddy if it is too dark... Pino add some Boss-OC2 and some chorus to get his tone, and that tone is just magic!

      Nice! Let me know how it turns out! I'll change to a 5 string set but still round wound strings... I'm really not a fan of the flats on a fretless sound! T

    Great video, thanks. I’ve been super interested in a Sandberg, a VS series...

      Thank you for tuning in again! They’re probably pretty underrated basses IMO… Hard to go wrong with one, that’s for sure! T

    Great review, Tyler :-) I own the same instrument (but no fretless). What´s your opinion about the comparison with your Sadowsky RV5PJ? For example, in terms of material, sound and overall feeling... I've always been interested in comparing these basses, but I've never had a chance

    great one - pretty much the config I'm going for! I'm surprised that this is an ebony fretboard though, looks so rosewoody haha

      It’s definitely lighter in colour, but that density and smoothness definitely say ebony! It’s a lovely Bass and I’m sure you’ll love yours! T

    Thanks for the video Tyler and a nice bass, but the VM4 is my fav, if I was back giggin' I would get one lol

      I've often looked at them and the versatility they no doubt have... In a non-fretless, I think the VM4 (or 5 in my case) would be hard to find fault with! T

      My vm5 is my goto Bass for gigging. A number of good sounds, it sie’s Great in a mix without much effort and is goodto handle for the soundguys. In diffizile Locations this Bass is so easy to get a nice Full and still tight Sound. And it plays just perfectly

      @@TylerSpicer what's the biggest difference to you between them? I'm just curious cause I tried both and couldn't tell much of a difference tone wise I got the same sounds off both

    Great sounding bass and solid playing, as always. Quick question...How noisy are the pickups in active mode? Would you consider them humcancelling (like the Sadowsky's)?

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  2 роки тому

      Yes they are! I've never noticed any noise with them! T

    Bro. Come on man. No way you're gonna mention Gary Willis after talking for 8 1/2 minutes and then play the bass for 8 seconds.
    I'm struggling man. Really. Let the instruments speak for themselves. Not gonna subscribe just trust me. Nobody wants to hear talking. More walking less talking.

      Haha! When I didn’t talk people wanted me to talk and help explain things. I want these videos to cover everything, so that I’m not click baiting people into split up vids with loads of ads per video. Fortunately you can skip, and helpfully adding in all the time stamps as you’ve done helps everyone - so thank you for helping this community! T
