This makes me smile. There's no way I would pay the price for a new Stealth, but I picked up a used M2 on e-Bay about a month ago for $115. Yup, I'm smiling.

I picked up a used but in almost new condition 2017 M2 and I love it, the sound is amazing it makes it feel like every shot is a bomb or struck really well. The bigger head looks better imo and I love the bit of white at the front over the all black heads majority of heads use. Not to mention got my M2 for $220Cad where as the new drivers run for $600-700+

    Hi Mark,
I just started playing golf last summer and bought a starter set of clubs (Top Flight). But soon after I discovered that I have skills, I bought a mint used 2017 M2 with a Fujikura pro 56 shaft and head cover for $190 from a Canadian store that shipped it to me in the US for free. I love my M2. Quite the upgrade.

Great video! Got "custom fit" for a Stealth+ over my M2 driver... except it only had +3 yards carry with a 2" longer shaft... fitter refused to let me hit my M2 again, $800 Canadian for a new Stealth and the fitter was scared of my old driver. Sticking with the M2, thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Great Vid Mark. I have the same Model M2 and am comparing it a Used Sim2 which i recently purchased. The M2 i can control fades and draws a lot easier than the Sim2.The M2 is also more forgiving and has a better feel at impact. Driving distance with both was the same..The M2 Head felt lighter, and when fitted to a shaft, felt easier to swing. The Sim 2 seems to have a much harder face that is unforgiving and less able to shape shots with.I have now completed 4 rounds of golf with both and decided that the Sim 2 is going back up for sale. The same shaft was used in each club during the rounds. M2 was the winner...My Handicap 6.8..Thanks for this vid.Great content as always.

I’ve changed my irons, wedges, hybrids, putter- at least twice since 2017, and my 3w once. But I still have the M2 in my bag. I’ve tried M4, SIM, SIM 2, a couple of Calloway’s, and Ping G425. None were better, and some were worse. THe poor club is getting a bit scruffy now, but until it breaks or there is some cosmic breakthrough with other drivers, it will be staying in the bag.

I was ready to buy a new driver since my swing speed has significantly increased over the past 1-2 years. I currently have the M2, but instead of getting a new driver, I decided to try a new shaft. Sure enough, the dispersion tightened up, and it performs just as well as the Paradym I was considering! With the addition of larger grips, it feels like a completely new club.

TM M2 range between £125 to £180 on ebay. Prices still very over inflated and conditions vary by price. My local golf pro took one look at my 2016 M2 and said keep it in the bag as there was nothing really to be gained by the latest versions. Over 5 years the differences are minimal so not worth paying over £450. Better paying for lessons so delivery and strike are better.

I JUST bought a used M2 driver from Facebook Marketplace. Good condition, and with a 2nd shaft thrown in, so I have a regular and a stiff ... $175 Canadian dollars, which is $140 USD, or 107 Pound. Where I live, the different versions of the Stealth range from $750 - $800 CAD. I'd be crazy not to go with the M2 and get nearly identical performance for 20 - 25% of the price.
With TM and Callaway both putting out significantly upgraded drivers, there is a LOT of product in the used market. You don't have to pay outrageous sums to bag decent gear.

It does make me question if drivers are now just fashion? Like a pair of trousers you can only make them so tight or loose or long or short. Are there any real gains or do they just go round in circles. They do seem to spend millions in R&D just to change a bit of colour.

I got fitted at "The Kingdom" (the Taylormade East Coast U.S. fitting facility). I got fitted for the SIM, SIM2 and Stealth. I had the 2017 M2 driver a few years ago, but absolutely hated the white and black top. That shouldn't have anything to do with how I hit it, but it did. The SIM and SIM2 also have that look that I hate, so that may also be why I didn't hit them as well. The Stealth blew the SIM and SIM2 away, for me. Not necessarily in distance on center strikes - there wasn't much difference at all. But, the dispersion was so much better with the Stealth (again, for me) - both left to right and front to back. And, again, I got fitted for them all at the same time so it wasn't like I was testing a fitted Stealth shaft against stock shafts in the other 2 heads. I have played 3 rounds with it so far and have hit 31 of 34 fairways. Is it the looks? Is it the carbon face? Is it the deeper head? Who the heck knows but, for whatever reason, it simply performed better than the others.

The 2017 M1 was the stand out driver of the M series for me. M3 and M5 didn’t deliver any more distance and were less consistent in my hands. I also think it looks and sounds great 😊

How far back in years do you have to go before there is a measurable difference in drivers performance? 5 years? 10 years? What I want to see a tester finally do is to break the club face of the driver up into 9 quadrants. Three from top to bottom and three across the face off of those. I want to see the numbers for 100 balls hit off of each quadrant with a few different swing speeds. That will give people an idea of what to expect and what clubs are actually "better" for an individual. My common strike is a couple millimeters low and towards the heel. The tests with the ball being hit all over the face don't say much. All the clubs are so close in performance.

    Mark,
I bought a slightly used OG M2 in 2018 for $150. It is the best driver that I have ever hit, and I have never considered buying a $500 driver - I’ll let these guys who want the newest technology, because they “think” it will make them better, pay that and then sell me their 1 or 2 year old club with 15-30 rounds on it for 1/3 of the new price. There is something to be said about buying a new driver because of the confidence that it can give (golf is a head game), but I think you (well an amateur) don’t groove a driver for a full season. Until I am a single digit HC, I’ll not buy a new driver off the shelf. As a matter of fact, I’ll never buy a $500 off the shelf. If I’m going to spend that much, I’ll add on another $175 to get a fitting.

I have several Taylormade and Callaway drivers. All fitted. My favorite is the 2017 M2. Second is Callawy Epic LS 2021. I will never part with the M2. I tried out a Qi10, but my M2 won out for me.

With the Carbon face, I bet there is a break in period like with composite baseball and softball bats. It’s going to get hotter and hotter I bet

That was the first thing I IMMEDIATELY thought when I heard about this driver. Would be hilarious if they turn out like the old Easton "Stealth Comp" and they literally turn into a safety hazard because they're so hot 🤣. Playing against that bat felt like someone was shooting baseballs out of a cannon at us .

    • @Athon08
      @Athon08 2 роки тому

@@LTR1420 yep. Coming from highly competitive slow pitch and how our bats reacted. They just keep getting hotter the more you hit them until they become illegal due to compression tests. Titanium faces start at their max threshold and stay there

I picked up an M2 driver, 10.5 deg, reg flex NM condition for $200 AUD. He gave me another M2 driver, stiff flex for NOTHING as he has skied a drive which has given the crown a loose tinny sound. So i think a bargain

Best golfing videos on UA-cam...bar none! Would love to see a video similar to this but comparing the Callaway XR 16 (my current driver) to the new Callaway offerings. Or do you think the results would be the same?

Just been for a fitting this week and tested the new cobra, rogue st and the stealth ..the numbers were very surprising for me and the Stealth probably won on numbers but i just couldn't get passed the red face ,so i opted for the rogue..the sound is amazing especially when I caught one 😊👍

I loved the sound and feel of stealth. The look in person is better than on the reviews and my on course testing it was a fairway finder, but in testing the new rogue st max while testing multiple shaft options for both clubs, I was getting better ball speeds, better deviation and better disbursement With the Rogue. The biggest stealth detail I noticed is that compared to m4, sim, and sim2 the toe misses actually didn’t get a lot of dead backspin. We tested that also with heel/toe misses recorded for stealth got avg 10 yards more total distance than sim2 choosing 7 nin center hits on each driver. We guessed that it might be some weight shifting in head or the twist face has changed in some way. It was interesting to us golf tech geeks

What shaft flex are you using on the M2?

  • @boydgrandy5769

I have had an M2 for four years. I've gamed a Cobra King F9 for the last two years. I just bought a new M4 for $289USD which I am expecting this week.
I think the twist face will help with dispersion, but I have no doubt that the M2 can knock the ball just as far as the new bat will.
I don't hit the ball very far now, so driving onto the fairway is critical for me to make pars and the occasional birdie.

i play this m2 with a speeder tx flex. its inconsistent. BUT, i do occasionally hit bombs with it. and i will say offcenter hits arent punished as bad as they should! so its forgiving. long. and cheap as heck on ebay these days. i think i prefered the r11s over all tm drivers. but im nostalgic 😂

Bright driver crowns need to make a comeback. It’s a lot easier to make adjustments if you can see what the head (face angle and even somewhat swing path) is doing as you swing it. Driver heads should have neon green crowns. At least near the face.

My first TM driver was a R580XD I loved it. Then a few like the areo burner,
Rocketballzs and R15, I didn't care for them but the M2 from 2018 is still in my bag and love it.

I actually switched to the cobra ltdx ls last month after 15 yrs of TM … 1 just felt amazing, 2 came standard with my current shaft of hazard blue (been seriously unimpressed with standard TM shafts last 5 yrs) and 3 I hit it just as good or better than my current SIM and it’s $100 less than TM

I would love to have an m2 but I just lucked out on a Callaway xr16 stiff flex for $10 with a jumbo cp2 grip! So far I haven't found anything to replace my bonded 9.5 RBZ. I'm hoping for more accuracy because my RBZ goes over 300. I'll find out shortly if it's going in the bag!

If I could have used my shaft, but as it was, didn’t care for the sound at all with the carbon. Since they didn’t have a 76g shaft also didn’t hit well.

I would like to see you keep your feet where you start them. The shuffle is crazy and falls back to your old stance "in my opinion" lol. Can you get faster head speed with a wider stance or does it restrict you hip turn?

Is it worth getting a club fitting on Stealth and then buying as close as possible matching M2 from eBay? Or is fitting and eBay mutually exclusive?
