I couldn't workout what you were talking about calling the colours as blue and purple... and then I realised it's late, my blue light filter is on. Gorgeous colours.
I think the middle transition area looks brown, but it's more of a taupey-tan than "brown". I'm now curious how a tonal version of olive brown would compare to any of the areas of this yarn, whether there are places that look similar to that middle area or if the breaking makes it completely different. It's both fun and frustrating when a dye behaves so differently in various conditions, you really need to do a lot of controlled experiments to be able to use it in a predictable way! As usual I would love to see any investigation on how a color behaves depending on conditions so if you're already working on any of the experiments you mentioned, I eagerly await them!
I've been waiting for this. I did see some green break when you were dropping the dye into the pot and I was so excited but then it really didn't die green on the yarn just a little tense but not enough from what I was seeing so I'm excited now
Hi! This is awesome, I have péruvien yarn that was wondering what color to do…so I’ll try this….although, my 1 question….felting!? You dive the non-superwash yarn in hot water?! And it doesn’t felt?!!??
Nope! It doesn't felt. You need heat + agitation to get felting, and I'm moving the yarn a bit but not so much that the fiber will clump too much. I find that the biggest danger for felting is the washing step at the end.
I am mourning the loss of my oldest son Todd, to complications of dialysis and a cyst in his stomach putting pressure on his diaphragm preventing his lungs from expanding for breathing. He passed away on Dec. 10 at 7:42 am. He was just 46 years old. He leaves his younger sister and brother.
Olive Brown is one of my favs. I love the breaking!
I got very very confused when I saw this video update since I didn't work yesterday and thought today was Monday. Very pretty!
I was a bit surprised, too. it is hard to keep track of the days of the week during winter vacation!
I love that mauve color it breaks into!
Right?!?!
A deep dive into this color will be fun.
it would!!
It’s so fun when you get an unexpected result. I’ve had it happen and then love trying to figure it all out.
It is SO FUN! I expected something but not this!

LOl! I'm sure I've done something like that before
@@ChemKnitsTutorialsLOL I had to watch the video again with the filter off.
This was so much fun to watch. I hope you will do the comparison between hot/cold and superwash vs non superwash
I would love to!
Wow that is fascinating. Can’t wait to see more like this!
Thank you!

Just love it!!! ❤
Thank you!!
Hope you can try this again cold, vs heat acid vs no acid, super wash vs non super wash. Its an interesting mystery
It is so fun when colors behave like this! I mean, it can be frustrating for sure, but when I'm not needing a specific color it is fun.
Surprise! 🤩
I was floored
I start cold with acid, and lay the dry yarn on the bath of olive brown. The purple absorbs first, and the finish is green. So strange!
So fun!

I was so curious what would happen
PLEASE do new test with the four options !
I hope to film that this year!

Future Rebecca has so many mysteries to solve, I'm enjoying the surprises that you have happen. I'd also like to see a higher depth of shade.
I save a lot of things for Future Rebecca ;P

Julia, I'm so sorry for your loss. May Todd's memory be a blessing.
