Great sound instructions. Take notes. Best sounding call I made, didn't take notes and well it's hard to get dimensions once glued up lol. Thanks for all your help Tony, from all the videos as well as text messages
@@tonydempsey1359 used a torch and loosened the glue. Reglued afterwards. And measure everything. Holes, thickness, heights, gaps.... Never imagined how much each part effects sound.
@@tonydempsey1359 did make a gaboon ebony call that I messed up on and then changed up to learn. Made real thin walls and bottom, no sound board, and three in glass top. Sounded pretty decent, higher pitched than glass top normally does. Several people wanted it so it became a backup idea
I have been turning for six month's and trying to get my own pot design. There is alot of things involved as you would know. In your opinion what would change the sound the most, pedestal the holes or the thickness of the pot. Ive made a few that sounds great and some i wouldn't give to anyone. Ive noticed the wood make a difference but i would like to find a happy medium that my pot will work with all component's .
Your doing a great job on helping many new call makers. Me and my friend started before You Tube and believe me made every mistake you mentioned. Kinda glad we traveled that road. Thanks for your efforts and taking us along with you.
Thanks.. I'm still learning and that's what I love about it.. the process that is.. I read all the post from THO when and before it was taken down I actually screen shot alot of stuff from that forum .. the videos from 2015 on UA-cam was not this informative.. Hopefully I can join the brotherhood of call makers that are at the top someday
Good information, i have ben Turkey hunting for around 30 some years and still learning new stuff especially after the u tube video gen.mucth appreciated information from you on call constructing I might just have to give it a try.keep them videos coming. Thanks.
I’ve been making calls since February and so far most of them sound pretty good. I would like to try different pedestal diameters to hear the different Sony da certain sizes produce. I would like to mention a big factor to sound quality is the striker such as the weight, length and type of wood make a difference!
Mr. Dempsey could you also make a video talking about good woods for strikers and soundboards. I’d like to know what kind of sounds certain woods produce. You could also throw in how slate, acrylic, and carbon fiber sound as a soundboard
I can definitely make a striker video.. as for soundboard sounds just like the woods used for making pots they all will produce different sounds .. the soundboards I use are mainly glass and slate.. however I make an osage pot with a titanium surface over a copper soundboard and it sounds really good.. sound clip is on UA-cam of that call.. Everything is trying it and see if you like the sound or not..
Great video. Very informative. Thanks!
Thanks, I've tried to give the beginners a small advantage of the leaning curve that I didn't have when I started ..
"write it down" is the best advice on call making, thanks Tony

Yeah everything is affected just change 1 spec at a time..
And a call with no soundboard is not unheard of just many don't do it..

tony. i wonder have you tried using b 7000 glue? it comes with a thin needle point already and the description sounds a lot like E 6000
I've tried several glues and e6000 is my go to glue.. I'll have to get some of that glue and try it out..
@@tonydempsey1359 thanks tony. if you do please let everyone know and i will do the same.

Spot on with the strikers Tanner
Everything change that is made will make a change in sound even the slightest change
