    Good stuff. Surprised you don’t have more subs man, this is exactly what I was looking for.

      Thanks! And you're welcome. That's why I made this. I haven't seen any other video doing this, so I knew I had to.

      @@FalconsTech I agree 100% with what he was saying, the video is well made with unique and mostly useful content. It's precisely what I'm looking for when looking at "techtubers".

    Hey, awesome video, did you find any face padding in between the 12mm thin one and the 24mm thick one? Trying to do the same mod but I don't really know what front cover to buy.

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  4 роки тому

      I got this face cover meant for the Vive. It comes with an 18mm thick one that worked well enough for me.

    I'm really tempted to do this on my Dell Visor, the crown on it is similar to this HP so hopefully I can get a friend to 3D print the parts and get the thing eventually. Do you have any information on ordering prescription lens adapter for your headset?

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  4 роки тому +1

      There are videos on UA-cam for the lens adapters. Just make sure your headset has a similar removable frame. Also, I believe the wires on the Dell is routed through the headstrap, so disassembly will be a little more complicated for you.

    • @JeanRodo
      @JeanRodo 4 роки тому

      @@FalconsTech Yeah I just looked up a tear down and it looks like I have to disassemble the whole thing to un-clip the wires and un route them. I'm sure its still do able but its just an extra level of intensity now, I think I'll just wait until a clip or something breaks but I'll for sure try to get a lens adapter.

    If those pieces are 3d printed, wouldn't it be possible to reverse engineer the middle part with proper screw holes to fit where the original was? So you would have at least one part that isn't just sticky taped on.

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  4 роки тому

      I suppose so, yes. Unfortunately I don't have any 3d printing experience.

    How is the new strap going since you added it? Has it held together well?
    Also, do you keep your headset plugged in when not in use? I noticed it gets warm just sat on the desk doing nothing.

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  3 роки тому +1

      I just recently had to sand down one of the side pieces and put on some fresh tape. It kept coming off every few days. The other side is still holding fine, so I'm confident it'll be fine now.
      I always unplug my headset after use. I've never left it plug in.

      @@FalconsTech Thanks, I might give it a try, I got the headset last week and I can immediately see what you mean about the terrible halo headband.
      I'm probably going to buy a usb hub with power switches to turn the thing off when not in use.

  • @xenio8736

    Do you think the 3D printed supports on the side would be strong enough to plug/unplug the DAS over and over again ? I have the two headset, for my wife and myself. I want to be able to switch easily from one to another

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  3 роки тому +1

      I'm not familiar enough with 3D printing to know. I got my parts done in nylon which is supposed to have a slight amount of give to it. I've taken off one clip a couple of times now and it's fine. No idea how it would hold up to doing it like a few times a month or something.

    would this work with samsung odyssey plus? it has integrated audio and no headphone jack

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  4 роки тому

      No? Kind of? You have to take it apart to properly remove the headphones at least. I'm also not sure how/if the halo comes off on it. If you can do that successfully you'd have to run an additional line to use the headphones.

    does the deluxe audio strap come with a microphone?

  • @draconicstudios368
    @draconicstudios368 4 роки тому

    hey can you do this same thing with the classic strap with some 3d modeling?

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  4 роки тому

      You would need different pieces on the side to attach the regular strap. I don't have a 3D printer and had to order them out. I only wanted to pay for that once, so decided to just go for the DAS. I think I made the right choice.

    How’s it holding up 9 months later?

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  3 роки тому +2

      One side doesn't hold very well unfortunately. The tape doesn't seem any less sticky, but the 3d printed part just isn't holding. I actually just ordered some high grit sandpaper to try and smooth it out. Hopefully that'll be good enough. I have to imagine it will since the other side seems to be holding fine.

    Is there a new alternative to this strap?

    • @FalconsTech
      @FalconsTech  2 роки тому

      The original Vive has long been discontinued, so no. The only alternative would be any number of floppy basic VR straps.
