Skylanders isn’t even about Spyro... They just put him in as a marketing tool. Heck, they didn’t even need Spyro for the game in the first place. It still would’ve been a success.
Its because most video games don't give a whole lot of character Development And give the player more gameplay. Most videogames rely more game wise then story wise. So with such little character to work with and a limited amount of time to show a true character in a movie (most movies average about 1 hour 30 minutes)compared to a TV series most producers have to come up with what they know from the games which is a small amount to begin with . Except the ratchet and clank movie. That game had definitely enough character development for the writers to work with so I don't know how the frick they messed it up.
The movie was going to be directed by Mark Dippe, the guy who did Garfield's Fun Fest, The Reef, and Garfield Gets Real. And written by the Altiere Brothers, the same ones who wrote the Dr. Dolittle direct-to-DVD movie, Scooby Doo 3, Garfield's Fun Fest, and the live action Woody Woodpecker movie. I'd say we dodged a bullet there.

Yes, I wished it had came out and I still do even in 2017. I would want the movie over the Skylanders game because in my opinion the Skylander games were all garbage. It was just a Spyro cash in.
I think if this movie did come out it would be pretty good, Spyro is family friendly, even though this series it has a darker tone. But the series also had a perfect story that can send a couple of messages to kids not to mention the music in the game was strong and powerful.
This would be interesting if this movie happened, and I totally understand about how it will end up being a possible flop. But throughout the years, I’ve haven’t been playing much Spyro games since the first one back in the early 2000s, and the time the Legend of Spyro series were happening. I didn’t pay much attention to the Spyro games that much, I was just too busy dealing with school, and just playing random stuff on the Computer, and for the record, I wasn’t aware if there was a possible Legend of Spyro Film in the works. Right until 2011, during Movie previews of Arthur Christmas, I saw the First animated Skylanders trailer, featuring Spyro, and I find it interesting to the new series. I started to build a relationship to the Skylanders Series, by Drawing a ton of art(which me and dad send to the creators, and they loved it, while they sent back some Skylanders merchandise), buying the actual game, and the book series. Then since 2015, I made a first Spyro Animation with Spyro(although in his Skylanders Design), along with his old and modern friends. I started to make even more Skylanders animations in 2016, the time when the Skylanders TV Show was in the works, and I was excited with it. But by the day, it premiered, I wasn’t thrilled how it turned out. The developers made a lot of changes which I’m not comfortable with, especially of how they portrayed Spyro. They made him act like a Smug, making him doing things that doesn’t feel like what Spyro usually does from his original games, especially nabbing a cadet’s phone and took a picture of his Scaly Butt. And as of that, I currently starting to not watch the show, and just throw away the Skylanders merchandise the creators gave me, in the Trash. But I’m still torn with series. Since 2018 I made a animation which includes Spyro(Still in his Skylanders Design), with his true original personality than the one in Skylanders Academy, as somewhat a tribute to his original games which includes a mention to Sparx and Cynder. But for now on, I no longer have an interest in Skylanders, no matter how it evolves, and Activision might have some possible plans of making a Skylanders Film, which makes me picture they might make Spyro a Spoiled Smug again. So I just continue liking the original Spyro the more currently, and just somewhat forget his egotistical portrayal in skylanders :(
I was hyped for this movie back in the day, and was crushed with disappointment when it was cancelled. I was fully aware of why it was cancelled too, so you can imagine how pissed off I was when I found out what Activision killed the movie for. But now that I am older, I can look back and realize that the movie was probably not going to be any good. Really, I don't think I'd want to watch an hour and a half of that weird CGI Spyro face on the big screen. But I still hate what they used Spyro for.
I watch Ratchet and Clank movie and I looked up the new Sly Cooper movie and tv show. The Sly Cooper animated series is in the works. I watch Skylanders Academy in the few days ago and it's awesome.
what each of us have in common WE WANT SPYRO BACK I Agree with You all on that, but me and some Fans Hope Spyro keep's his unlimited ability to fly anytime any world in all 3 re-mastered Spyro games and Future Spyro games to come, well Spyro is a dragon he has wings free flight can be a improvement Spyro. Activision and Vicarious Visions could replace the frustrating levels with fresh new levels making Spyro greater and grander then before
I was around 11 to 12 when this news was around and both me and my older brother were looking forward to it despite the fact we mostly grew up with the PS1 Spyro games, but considering who were working on it I'm glad it never happened, anyway, yes, now the Spyro remakes are confirmed, but you probably know by this point
OMG I remember hearing about this and actually thinking this will come out! Yeah, imagine the dissapointment of 17 year old me(Was supposed to come out around my birthday, actually) when it was cancelled. I will say that if there's one Spyro continuity that should be adapted to the big screen, it's the 'Legend of Spyro' one since there's more to do with its plot and characters. I do remember however seeing this poster and thinking Spyro looks way too old, but that may have been just the angle. I'm not sure how well this would do in terms of box office, but I don't think critics would like it for the sole reason the story may have been too simillar to other films, thus making it just 'another by-thenumbers' kids movie to them. I could be wrong, and seeing how this movie may not be happenning at all, we may never know if I'm wrong but based on 'Ratchet and Clank' I'm assuming this would have been the case. I DO recall Elijah Wood saying he's not sure about reprising Spyro in the film, which was later confirmed that he would be in the film. Seeing how the games had some celebrities in their voice cast, it would make sense the movie would have some star power to it(Espacially if Gary Oldman was attached). As for the entire thing about Video Game Movies not doing well in the box office, that's not entierly an advertising fault. The problem with these movies was mostly that they were too different from the source metrial('Tomb Raider' if I remember this borefest correctly), causing people who liked the game to be annoyed which will lead to people who aren't fans to think 'Well, if he likes the game but not the movie, I have no business watching it(Happened to me with 'Doom'). But then there's the other way around where the movie is really loyal to the game so that newcommers are confused('Ratchet and Clank'). What would Spyro be? We don't know... Man, I need to work on my post length...
I too had heard that Elijah Wood had reprised his role. It's entirely due to advertising, but it does play a major part. The more people are aware, the more tickets sold during the first weekend. If reviews are great, it'll add even more within the first few weeks.
TLoS might have actually worked for a movie adaption- it was story heavy, and much of the appeal was the environments and music. Game adaptions tend to be hard because you can't translate grind-ey/explore-ey gameplay with little being said or done to an interesting viewing experience, it's something you have to interact with for it to work. TLoS was just short enough, had just enough separation between story and gameplay, and had just the right appeal to work in a movie with some minor plot tweaks. I still hope that somewhere along the line they consider making a Spyro movie similar to what TLoS might have been. I mean, I thought the environments were scenery porn back then, imagine what they could do if they went for something similar now?
Well......they did get the lore from Legend of Spyro and put it in Skylanders Cynder, Sparx, the fact that the earth is in little island bits because of his sacrifice in "Dawn of the Dragon".....(by the way, he isn't dead because every 10 generations, a purple dragon is born, he is like a Phoneix, he can die but he becomes a part of nature until he is resurrected. Spyro is immortal and it's been explained in the trilogy)......the fact that the purple dragon will lead everyone to a new age (which he does in the game, and show), Malefor is back, the Dark Master is back, he turns Spyro into Dark Spyro, and he hears his ancestors (who Ignitus wouldn't shut up about) I'd say in terms of lore, they did a good job, the problem is they tried to make a sequel and a new game.......
I wonder what it would be like if it were produced. It would have most likely been badly acclaimed like most video game movies. But it seems cool to think about it. There's a universe where this movie was made, and did very good (if that makes anyone feel better).
I also never knew about the attempted Crash Bandicoot T.V show back in 1996, that got me hyped, until I found out it was cancelled back then, in someone's old video. The cartoon had bad cutscenes and graphics.
I think a problem that comes up with movies based on video games is that the producers are trying to capture games that are like 30 hours in game play into 1 or 2 hours
I read the whole script and it was so 🆒. I didn't even know there was a script because when I found out, I was completely shocked because for the first time in years they showed the script
A few game originated series that made it on T.V and the movies in the past are Sonic the Hedgehog, and PAC - Man, I am not sure if there are any others. Oh and Kirby too, that got a T.V show back when a station called FoxBox existed in the 2000s.
Is there any footage that exists? I’m interested. The Company might have worked on it so I hope they have SOME footage. Seems like a cool idea. I don’t hate Skylanders for not getting this movie made, but I would like to see the movie be made now. With the technology we have today, it could be amazing.
I'm hoping with all the stuff going around with spyro that they consider looking back at not only the movie but the legend of spyro series again (even though at the moment their focused on the original first spyro series)
Honestly, I quite like Skylanders Academy. It was nice seing Spyro on TV and I always enjoyed playing the Skylander games as a kid aswell, even though it did take a lot of getting used to with how much things they just changed from the games.
What I think is that dotd was the movie at first then they decided that after that dotd game version was made but I think that if they didn't make the game version then they would of made the movie
Since it was a movie, I would have imagined Malefor physically present hence DoTD type of scenario. However, the synopsis pointed out otherwise, I don't know if that was REALLY the synopsis or just an idea.
@@VtnVivi I saw it on television, RTÉ 1, my sister was so happy to see it, but then she cried when she discovered it was not going to be released and my family still joke about it with her now. Everybody online says there was never a trailer, but I saw one, which is weird.
0:00 - I am somewhat surprised that you would decide to talk about this. :/ 0:18 - I can't remember where I heard it from first but it was in the 107 facts video and I think it's possible that even TGX had talked about it in that hour long video on his journey with the series. 1:05 - But everything you just said actually describes the story of the Legend Of Spyro Trilogy! I am really surprised you know all this. :/ 1:21 - And SPOILERS: they both die in the end. 2:13 - I'd say the exact same thing as the trilogy on PS2-PS3. 3:04 - It did for me but not in my usual theater, instead it was in Odeon cinema in Streathem for just £11.00. 3:54 - I liked how you just whispered that! XD 5:08 - Well here's the thing; this movie was going to be based on The Legend Of Spyro Trilogy (at least I think since it has the same name) which did do better then the games before it but nowhere to surpass the original trilogy made by Insomniac Games. I think it's most likely that they wanted the new trilogy of games to do god before going forth with the movie. 5:37 - I've only known the series for 9 months at this point but even without being a fan to the series, this movie looked like something I wouldn't mind watching myself. 5:48 - Personally from someone who has never played The Legend Of Spyro Trilogy but only seen people do it; I'd prefer the movie over the games since from what I've heard, the only good thing about those games would just be the story. 6:24 - Is Crash anywhere in it? 6:38 - Maybe TGX can help since he's more acquainted with the series then you or I. 6:51 - Oh yeah I forgot that Spyro at some point in the trilogy turns dark, both figuratively and literally. 7:15 - If it's based on The Legend Of Spyro Trilogy then I doubt it. :P 8:03 - But if they do remake the classic Spyro games and then go for this movie, won't they just clash with one another since they both have completely different styles. 8:41 - Always happy to watch. :)
@@VtnVivi I don't remember what movie I was going to see (actually, maybe it was Chicken Run), and thinking back it could have been for a game rather than the movie, but I remember it being a first person POV of presumably a dragon flying over a river of lava between tall rocks, and a deep voice talking about being prepared for something and Spyro (again, presumably) being like "I'm scared" or "What if I'm not ready?". I never saw any trailers for the 3D games but the fact that this was shown in a theater was kinda weird.
It's sort of ironic that I want to hate Skylanders for ruining Spyro but I can't, since I have one of those games on the Wii U(I got the entire bundle with the portal and all for five euros, okay?), and it's actually pretty fun. I could go as far as saying that it's actually better(gameplay-wise) than the entire Legend trilogy.
IF!!! In the future they do make the movie I REALLY Hope that Spyro and Cynder are played by their ORIGINAL voice actors because I Love Elijah Wood and Christian Ricci, This is how I first heard about the them and The Legend of Spyro will always be my favorite, No Matter What.
I want it to be made. Then the Guardians will not be captured by a hatchling. Cynder is an alright character. They play a part in her defeat. Maybe she can take a bit of blood during each fight to free Malefor. Also can the Guardians kill the golem in the third film?
Video game movies are usually cancelled because the companies would find it risky for the video games to maintain a good reputation to the fans and other people. I finally saw the Ratchet and Clank Movie, and it was a very nice film, I don't get why it was a box office bomb, it's just a real shame for Rainmaker Entertainment. A real loss was losing the movie Ascendant of the Divergent movie series, I was really looking forward to that.
I don't really like movies, but I think I would have preferred a movie that flopped to a soulless continuation where the main character loses significance past the first game. However it's hard to say how it would have played out. Would it affect the possibility for classic remasters that are rumoured around now? And hey, if it were mildly successful, maybe it could have continued and kept the games alive for the better. Still, those are what ifs. All I'm praying for are those rumoured classic remasters and vainly wishing for legend of remasters too. I'm a nut for games with a good world and fair impact on my childhood, what can I say?
Ehh, I disagree. Spyro hardly had a presence in Skylanders past the first game, and I'd argue they're only considering a remake because Skylanders' sales are now declining, provided they even are considering a remake.
Don't you see this guys.......we are in control of Spyro's direction So far, everyone who was involved with Spyro or has heard of him, is confident in his direction, and I like what direction they're talking about (I still think Legend of Spyro trilogy was kickass, but I guess people are different) They....as stated in the trailer.......rekindled the flame..... Yea no shit, we're rekindled alright. And we want more, more, more....you can't just bring up our childhood and only make 1 remaster out of him, especially after canceling a sequel....and a movie! (which idk, video game movies never turned out good, but what if this was different, you know?)............he is very important in the gaming industry, and back then in 1998, he was the most advanced...he was ( and still is ) one of the many faces of Sony..........I mean come on, you can have Spyro as your profile picture....... Even Skylanders was inspired by Spyro, and they even tried to add the lore from Dawn of the Dragon into it, which they did......A LOT OF IT. He is still thought of by the many developers on this earth. He's in the history books, they must keep going with him. They need to go back to his timeline and push forward. People will eat that shit up and they will get buried in money. WIN-Fucking-WIN Dear God, please give us a sequel to Spyro. We don't want Skylanders......... We want Spyro...... And if you guys want this as well......you better reach out to "Activision" and "Toys for Bob".......there are probably lots of you reading this comment and thinking the same thing I am.....speak together and have your voice heard......I don't mean to quote a famous meme.....but "make your dreams come true" - Shia Lebouf..... And I don't mean to do it again, but it's a very good quote, and it's "Don't let your dreams be dreams.....".........let that sink in for a minute.......... "Don't let your dreams be dreams" "Don't let your dreams be dreams" "Don't let your dreams................be......................dreams"................do something about it.......... We all have the power to control Spyro's direction.......it is because of *US* that this remaster is a reality............... Go....and tell Activision and Toys for Bob what you want.................................. What *WE* want................. *WE* want more..... If you are still here, reading this.........you like this comment.......alright......make sure everyone knows what power they have.......
If Activision were to reconsider the Legend of Spyro film, I think it would make the most sense to create an animated show instead and release the episodes on Netflix, Cartoon Network, or maybe even the Disney Channel or who knows what. It just doesn't make sense to create a multi-million budget film of a series most non-gamers have little to no interest in. A lower-budget animated show would make the most sense.
I still love The Legend of Spyro & old Spyro game franchises, but that would be cool. Activision has their time in the world to decide what to do next just like other companies including two shooter franchises Doom from Id software & Half-Life or Left 4 Dead from Valve. So many companies that some people can't keep track of they're going to do next.
I fear that the Sly T.V show might not make it, due to the old history of video games getting movies and T.V shows. I guess games were meant to stay games.
Probably it's better no movie was made - skylanders made money and it's still possible for ok sequels of SPYRO (not skylanders) to be made (maybe soon, maybe in the distant future, but it IS possible). The movie maybe would have been nothing extra to LOS series.
Amazing how I found about Spyro (which I didn't have in any form as a kid) right now, and I'm 22, and I love both the new and the original series -- to me Spyro is the best character so far in video games (talkin' about the real deal _IP_ people!). Why? Because dragons, voice acting, original and cute and funny as hell quirky dotted dragon and as well as for the LOS story Spyro etc, all the facial expressions and dialogues... but have I still played them? No. Time to make a change I guess!
I actually think that the movie would do OK if it was made. Yeah sure The Legend of Spyro had exploration, but it was never the gameplay that got people interested. It was the story of the game, gameplay-wise the games were critically acclaimed, and even I can agree that the controls of the games were, a little wonky. However, the game was more focused on the story than anything else, which could’ve caused the movie to at the very least not be as big of a flop as other video game movies.
VTNVIVI Not really. In those other games there were unique and fun gameplay features which because it was a movie, got removed and eventually made them less fun. However, The Legend of Spyro was never praised for unique or fun gameplay. It was mainly praised because of the story, design, acting and characters. One major reason video game movies become flops is because you lose the fun gameplay elements of the actual game. The TLoS trilogy however had gameplay that wasn’t that interesting, and was more of an obstacle to get to see the next part of the story than anything else.
Likely, this movie was doomed from the start because Activision was already planning Skylanders or at least a different direction for Spyro under the noses of Sierra when they were making Dawn of the Dragon.
If they had made the movie it probably would of failed the writers don’t put it enough effort to tell a really good story with videogames could they do it now? Possible seeing as the skylanders academy is doing well it could be done right but will it be like Legend of Spyro??? Seeing as DOTD wasn’t good as the previous two story wise. I wish they would remake the games but change how the story play out in DOTD there was still a lot to be answered. Dark spyro?, the possibilities of there being many them one purple dragon, etc.
Agreed! It was for the best seeing as how video game movies flop all the time. True, Academy is doing fine and Activision might consider a movie this time around. As for remakes, I think the first three on PS1 are on their list at the moment.
Since most Video Game movies failed, I'll say that it'll probably fail since making a Movie based on games never really work. Guess it was a good idea that the Spyro Movie wasn't made
I would have the film of spyro, i barley remembered him when i was really young seeing my older brother play the New beggining game, i even remembered the intro when the temple was at risk
Man i really loved the legend of spyro series i wish the movie did happen

Looking at this in 2017, I'm actually glad it didn't considering the flops with video game movies these days.
VTNVIVI Back then it would of single handedly destroyed Spyro if it was a flop.
JP8K the one time I'm glad it was another reboot even if Spyro's design isn't the same while the game is good for children but ok overall.
The legend of spyro games was never good to many fans. So it would be best it got cancelled. unless the story is going to be good.
Do you guys want me to explain sadly why video games to movies usually flop. Unless you already know.
ugh I'm probably getting trashed for this but I reeeeeeeeally hate how spyro looks in skylanders.

Interesting. This (for whatever reason) think of how great a Saturday morning Crash Bandicoot T.V. show would have been in the 1990's.
Imagine!
This is probably the closest we'll ever get: m.ua-cam.com/video/1t_4YclrGqM/v-deo.html Story behind this is back when Naughty Dog was making the first Crash Bandicoot game they made these as a potential intro and ending to the game. Joythe fox I hope it even gets RELEASED! I’ve heard nothing since the trailer!
OH SHIT I REMEMBER HEARING ABOUT THIS
Good old times!
Yes, I wished it had came out and I still do even in 2017. I would want the movie over the Skylanders game because in my opinion the Skylander games were all garbage. It was just a Spyro cash in.
Mike Sherwood I hate skylanders o.O
Yep cash grab I agree.
Barely even that- they used him for advertising and figurines to grab a bit of cash then tossed him out to focus on their weird original characters.
Aw... I would of loved it! I still get goosebumps playing the trilogy. Yup even after 50+ times
I think if this movie did come out it would be pretty good, Spyro is family friendly, even though this series it has a darker tone. But the series also had a perfect story that can send a couple of messages to kids not to mention the music in the game was strong and powerful.
It could have! If not, Activision would have pulled the plug completely on Spyro.
So I just continue liking the original Spyro the more currently, and just somewhat forget his egotistical portrayal in skylanders :(
Thank you for sharing!
@@VtnVivi No Problem:)
I wish the movie happens. Me and my sis are huge spyro fans. I like spyro while my sis loves cynder. I also wish they kept the legend of spyro going.
Thanks for sharing! Yeah looking back at it today, it was for the best.
The remake of Spyro was awesome! But it was of the first three games with the 90s and 2000s vibe.
I watch Ratchet and Clank movie and I looked up the new Sly Cooper movie and tv show.
The Sly Cooper animated series is in the works.
I watch Skylanders Academy in the few days ago and it's awesome.
Yes, Sly TV show seems to be in the works. The movie is unfortunately on hold and will happen after the TV show apparently.
I thought I was the only person who remembered skylanders academy
what each of us have in common WE WANT SPYRO BACK I Agree with You all on that, but me and some Fans Hope Spyro keep's his unlimited ability to fly anytime any world in all 3 re-mastered Spyro games and Future Spyro games to come, well Spyro is a dragon he has wings free flight can be a improvement Spyro. Activision and Vicarious Visions could replace the frustrating levels with fresh new levels making Spyro greater and grander then before
the Ratchet & Clank movie also showed up in the UK but only in select cinemas (annoyingly after they announced it as being "in cinemas everywhere")
Select cinemas...
VTNVIVI yup, only particular brands of Cinema (like Vue for example) got the movie
I started watching Skylanders academy yesterday. At my own surprise, I think it's actually not that bad at all and I'm looking forward for season 3
Sadly yes I know it was cancelled and I FUCKING HATE SKYLANDERS!
Skylanders gives me life.
I STILL have hope that one day they can do the movie.
The Legend of Spyro is one of my favorite series ever made.
Hmm...Looking at the history of video game movie adaptations, I wouldn't be too sure.
@@VtnVivi Yeah, that's a curse.
But Detective Pikachu may be the first good movie.
So, there's hope, a little one but hope nonetheless.
Who knows!
Well......they did get the lore from Legend of Spyro and put it in Skylanders
Cynder, Sparx, the fact that the earth is in little island bits because of his sacrifice in "Dawn of the Dragon".....(by the way, he isn't dead because every 10 generations, a purple dragon is born, he is like a Phoneix, he can die but he becomes a part of nature until he is resurrected. Spyro is immortal and it's been explained in the trilogy)......the fact that the purple dragon will lead everyone to a new age (which he does in the game, and show), Malefor is back, the Dark Master is back, he turns Spyro into Dark Spyro, and he hears his ancestors (who Ignitus wouldn't shut up about)
I'd say in terms of lore, they did a good job, the problem is they tried to make a sequel and a new game.......
The song at the end of the last TLoS. :'(
Why Activision ... WHY !?!
(i'm talking about the cancelled movie of spyro)
I wonder what it would be like if it were produced. It would have most likely been badly acclaimed like most video game movies. But it seems cool to think about it. There's a universe where this movie was made, and did very good (if that makes anyone feel better).
Where is that universe take me there O_O
That's going to be hard to come up with a story for spyro. They would have to come up with a dark story.
But it is in good hands.
In Vicarious we trust.
I also never knew about the attempted Crash Bandicoot T.V show back in 1996, that got me hyped, until I found out it was cancelled back then, in someone's old video. The cartoon had bad cutscenes and graphics.
Yeah I remember that!
I think a problem that comes up with movies based on video games is that the producers are trying to capture games that are like 30 hours in game play into 1 or 2 hours
Yep...
I read the whole script and it was so 🆒. I didn't even know there was a script because when I found out, I was completely shocked because for the first time in years they showed the script
the reason most video game movies fail at least 98% of the time is because the studios don't take video games seriously
Honestly, a book series could work??? Maybe???
The new intro is amazing!!
Glad you like it :D
Oh, I know. But I am not sure I care.
The strength of the reboot is the gameplay and level design. Why would I want a non-interactive version of that?
A few game originated series that made it on T.V and the movies in the past are Sonic the Hedgehog, and PAC - Man, I am not sure if there are any others. Oh and Kirby too, that got a T.V show back when a station called FoxBox existed in the 2000s.
I was a fan of Sonic X :P
Oh I wanna watch Legend of Spyro 3D now! I hate it when it is cancelled for a long time ago!
Well considering the fact that movies based off games don't do so well, I guess it was for the best.
Is there any footage that exists? I’m interested. The Company might have worked on it so I hope they have SOME footage. Seems like a cool idea. I don’t hate Skylanders for not getting this movie made, but I would like to see the movie be made now. With the technology we have today, it could be amazing.
I wonder.
Man, I was so upset when I found out that it was cancelled.
I knew about it while they were working on it, and lil me was sooo hyped.
I think it was for the best. Video game movies don't do so well.
@@VtnVivi I agree with you completely. I just didn't know any better back then. I was 8-9 years old.
I'm hoping with all the stuff going around with spyro that they consider looking back at not only the movie but the legend of spyro series again (even though at the moment their focused on the original first spyro series)
For now, I'd imagine them being focused on a brand new game, a continuation of Spyro 3.
@@VtnVivi ya true
why did they cancel it
Activision that's why.
No one probably remembered spyro just like the old IT movie that nobody has ever heard of.
Honestly, I quite like Skylanders Academy.
It was nice seing Spyro on TV and I always enjoyed playing the Skylander games as a kid aswell, even though it did take a lot of getting used to with how much things they just changed from the games.
I wish a movie was made. I thought it would have been cool.
I remember Ratchet & Clank was released in the UK. But it was not advertised on TV
Seee!!!!!!!!!! Poor marketing.
:( why? 😧
To bad the movie didn't came out (i really liked The Legend of Spyro Trilogy) let's hope Sly Cooper movie doesn't get cancelled
I hope the Sly movie doesn't get cancelled too :(
What I think is that dotd was the movie at first then they decided that after that dotd game version was made but I think that if they didn't make the game version then they would of made the movie
Since it was a movie, I would have imagined Malefor physically present hence DoTD type of scenario. However, the synopsis pointed out otherwise, I don't know if that was REALLY the synopsis or just an idea.
I saw a trailer for this in like 2009, I can't find it now, weird.
There was never an official trailer though?
@@VtnVivi I saw it on television, RTÉ 1, my sister was so happy to see it, but then she cried when she discovered it was not going to be released and my family still joke about it with her now. Everybody online says there was never a trailer, but I saw one, which is weird.
I played every ratchet and clank games but did insomnic make make syro too
Spyro is currently in the hands of Activision. Insomniac has not made a Spyro game since Year of the Dragon.
Yeah um..... I think you miscount the season vivi. cause it was suppose to be season 2. Not 3, savvy?
Season 3 did get greenlit in advance actually ;)
Now that Spyro has been remade, do you think there will be a movie now?
Hmm....Who knows at this point. Games would still have a higher chance of being profitable.
@@VtnVivi that's true, I would just love to see how the animaton would be if it was a movie!! Animation are so beautiful now a days!
The people who were making this actually made some Garfield films.
I don't believe the movie will flop.
I would love to believe that :/
0:00 - I am somewhat surprised that you would decide to talk about this. :/
0:18 - I can't remember where I heard it from first but it was in the 107 facts video and I think it's possible that even TGX had talked about it in that hour long video on his journey with the series.
1:05 - But everything you just said actually describes the story of the Legend Of Spyro Trilogy! I am really surprised you know all this. :/
1:21 - And SPOILERS: they both die in the end.
2:13 - I'd say the exact same thing as the trilogy on PS2-PS3.
3:04 - It did for me but not in my usual theater, instead it was in Odeon cinema in Streathem for just £11.00.
3:54 - I liked how you just whispered that! XD
5:08 - Well here's the thing; this movie was going to be based on The Legend Of Spyro Trilogy (at least I think since it has the same name) which did do better then the games before it but nowhere to surpass the original trilogy made by Insomniac Games.
8:03 - But if they do remake the classic Spyro games and then go for this movie, won't they just clash with one another since they both have completely different styles.
8:41 - Always happy to watch. :)
I remember seeing the trailer for this in a movie theater when i was little but i thought I had dreamt it up until now
Trailer????
@@VtnVivi yeah! There was one of those cardboard cut outs for it in the corner of the theater and everything
I had a Spyro movie imagined in my head: Spyro: Battle Of The Dragon. I had original dragon characters like Blaze, Flamour, etc.
:O
No, the movie wasn't cancelled because Skylanders, it was cancelled because of "Spyro's Kingdom" and edgy/gory mmo about dragons.
+Gustavo Barría Chavarría That's something I might discuss eventually. Spyro's Kingdom was the original concept, it just evolved into Skylanders.
Granted, and bloody MMO with dragons could be a cool concept, buuut spyro really has no place in that.
Alright then!
IF!!! In the future they do make the movie I REALLY Hope that Spyro and Cynder are played by their ORIGINAL voice actors because I Love Elijah Wood and Christian Ricci, This is how I first heard about the them and The Legend of Spyro will always be my favorite, No Matter What.
Who knows. But a movie for now uhh....chances are it'll flop just like the rest.
I would love to find the script...
Oh imagine O_O
I'm tempted to message the screenwriters and see if they know anything
This aged like milk
@@Theagentofchaos-r5q LOL true
Oh yeah, that was harsh.
Spyro and halo 3 movie was cancelled in 2007 :'( my most adored stories of all time
Well look at it this way, video game movies tend to suck :P
Blame the advertising department.
As you said, would this have affected the fate of Spyro? Skylanders kept Spyro alive in a way, and now they are considering a remake.
Ehh, I disagree. Spyro hardly had a presence in Skylanders past the first game, and I'd argue they're only considering a remake because Skylanders' sales are now declining, provided they even are considering a remake.
@@1stpltpkmnTRskylanders was a new ip and that is not Spyros franchise and skylanders kelp Spyro alive and saved his name
Don't you see this guys.......we are in control of Spyro's direction
So far, everyone who was involved with Spyro or has heard of him, is confident in his direction, and I like what direction they're talking about (I still think Legend of Spyro trilogy was kickass, but I guess people are different)
They....as stated in the trailer.......rekindled the flame.....
Yea no shit, we're rekindled alright. And we want more, more, more....you can't just bring up our childhood and only make 1 remaster out of him, especially after canceling a sequel....and a movie!
WIN-Fucking-WIN

😒😒😒
Sad story guys ... sad story.
Maybe it would've flopped.
Hey I mean look at Sly Cooper! They decided to go with a TV show instead.
I feel bad for Rainmaker Entertainment😩😩😩
Thank GOD this movie never happened. Everything about it sounds like it was going to be terrible.
Perhaps.
Video game movies are making a good come back now
Slowly :)
Who knows!
Indeed
Y'know. I edited your Sly 5 idea site if you want to look at it.
I fear that the Sly T.V show might not make it, due to the old history of video games getting movies and T.V shows. I guess games were meant to stay games.
We shall see, I too am skeptical.
Would still love to know how the story would have been, so yeah at least to see the script
The script exactly!
Then perhaps I would decide if the movie was a good idea or a bad idea...and not only basing myself on the assumption that videogame movies are bad
Probably it's better no movie was made - skylanders made money and it's still possible for ok sequels of SPYRO (not skylanders) to be made (maybe soon, maybe in the distant future, but it IS possible). The movie maybe would have been nothing extra to LOS series.
I see!
I wished he didn't go to Skylanders I mean I like Skylanders but I like spryo so much better
Activision for ya.
what if I told you that Skylanders takes place after the events of the Legend of Spyro Dawn of the Dragon
Wouldn't the same be said for other franchises? It all comes down to how the script is handled.
This did not age well
Likely, this movie was doomed from the start because Activision was already planning Skylanders or at least a different direction for Spyro under the noses of Sierra when they were making Dawn of the Dragon.
No it had the same writers as norm of the north
NOOOOO I WOULD HAVE SEEN IT A BILLION TIMES CRIIIII
:(
I would have watched that movie, straight up and I have already binge watched the skylander series, it works
Oki doki :)
Guess it was a good idea that the Spyro Movie wasn't made
Well said.
I would have the film of spyro, i barley remembered him when i was really young seeing my older brother play the New beggining game, i even remembered the intro when the temple was at risk
If this film came out, would it be rated PG?
I'd say why not.
