Definitely I remember that game still to this day from start to finish. That game sparked my love for mystical fantasy and I be came an artist drawing my own cartoons of my own. And it's all because my parents bought a game cube with spyro. I really can't wait for the remastered games.
You and me both. Maybe it was just me, but I feel like the series basically died after the first three. Although, I really enjoyed A Hero's Tail. But, yeah. I miss the days when I was a kid, playing the heck out of the first Spyro. More good memories than I can shake a polygonal staff that crystallizes dragons at.
I just feel personally that Spyro was the victim of changing ideals. His ip got passed around so much and was jostled between so many different people with different intentions that he just became a muddled mess by the end of it and eventually people got fed up with it. The first 3 games are the pinnacle of Spyro like Crash, whereas the others were made simply for money (skylanders) or to revitalise the series for a new audience (Legend of Spyro). Spyro will always have a place in my heart as a beloved character from my childhood alongside Crash, I've resigned myself to the fact that we'll never truly reach the quality of the first 3 games without the original creators behind the wheel, but i'm still hopeful that one day i'll be proved wrong.
@@midnightdarkfrost Don't get me wrong I was ecstatic to find Spyro in Skylanders but their design of requiring you to buy other miniatures to get anywhere bugged me. The game felt like a cheep cash grab and sadly wasn't focused on Spyro, just used him as a marketing scheme.
J T right?? i mean i just love the original series, especially ripto’s rage, but ‘a new beginning’ e.g was just great. i loved the epic music at the beginning, the introduction of ice, earth and electricity, and the super attacks. definitely underrated!
The spyro Eternal Night trilogy has been my favorite for years. All 3 games can get pretty damn difficult and in the third YOU CAN ACTUALLY FLY. They're not perfect by any means, but they're so much fun
Yeah, but Mario’s formula has never really changed over the years. It’s always the same game, and don’t get me wrong that’s fine for him, but Spyro was always about two things; collecting and adventure. Mario only gets a real adventure in his non-sidescrolling titles like 64, And Sunshine, Galaxy, and Odyssey. Spyro is a bit more in depth, which is why the series couldn’t last as long on the same style. That’s really what forced the game to change so much as the shift to PS2 and beyond was happening.
Key_Of_Destiny47 Mario's structe and gameplay pretty much changes and evolves with every entry, minus New Super Mario Bros. 2 and U. 3D land and World especially had a REALLY different feel from the other games. In Mario, while you always will jump, same could be said about Crash spinning, and Spyro spitting fire.
Yea and in terms of lore he isn't dead. And in terms of reality he is getting remastered And when you first buy a PS4, you can have him as a profile picture Where the fuck is the "dead" part?
I’ve always really enjoyed The Legend of Spyro games. I thought they were all amazing, and imo the graphics still hold up really well. The third one, Dawn of the Dragon, is probably one of my favorite games of all time. The (almost) open world & flying I loved, and I could play it with a friend!
My favorite Spyro game was Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. I loved it for the story, graphics, new elements to use, addition of Cynder who was really cool
I know right :D It was my most happy spyro moment in my life :P game fly "you can fly... 9/10 will play agai... wait didnt even play yet ok... will play twice"
dawn of the dragon was actually a very amazing spyro higher graphics then i expected at the time and i did love the story line now if they could make more like that one it would be great
Honestly I want a combo of the legend trilogy and the originals... Hear me out So the legend trilogy has good story and combat right? The original trilogy has good aesthetic, gameplay mechanics, and was very colorful Combine these with the new design we have now and toys for bob or insomniac and I feel a KILLER game could be made
The Legend of spyro definitely didn't have a quality drop. It was simply a different style of game. Personally, I loved that trilogy way more than the original. I grew up, wasn't a kid any more, I enjoy the more realistic story telling and believable fictional world. Dawn of the dragon was a good point to leave on but I wish we'd get more of that.
Jarek4GamingDragon I thought Dawn of the Dragon was by far, the worst Spyro game ever!!! A New Beginning was, one of the best Spyro games ever so I, guess it sorta balances out...
lol, you kidding? Dawn of the dragon did every thing the previous two games did but a ton better and updated the art style to look less childish. It was an improvement in every way.
heres what i dont get. these game devs take the title of games that have amazing camps behind the title. People that love the title. just use the title to cash grab. and to these devs, making their own thing is easier. so thats what they do. then release the game and watch people flood their pockets with $50 bills. the same thing is happening with Bethesda. they took the Fallout title. made it shit to their own context and their own way of doing things. gutting the RPG system. adding voiced protaganist. ect. and it was a SHIT Fallout. a good game. but a BAD fallout. Then people like you, come on and say "well, its just a diffrent style of game" or "why not let Bethesda do their own thing" or "why not let them make the game different?" BECAUSE. FALLOUT IS A FALLOUT GAME. NOT AN ACTION SHOOTING RPG WITH RUST BUILDING MECHANICS. just like how Spyro is Spyro, not an arcade fighting game. people like Bethesda have the money and crew to make a new IP to test out their online mode. but NO. gotta #fuckplayer1 (this # works by the way)
Except in the case of spyro, the original devs left the franchise and it had been failing ever since spyro 3. There were no games for a while until The Legend of Spyro rebooted spyro entirely. So no, that analogy makes no sense. Also, fighting game? Have you ever played an actual fighting game before? TLOS titles are not fighting games.
Tim Worley the legend trilogy was actually pretty good, albeit some gameplay differences from the original, or still was better than the the games after the insomniac trilogy.
This made me cry. Thinking about how much Spyro has been apart of my life and it's finally back in it. I just got the reignited trilogy today and I'm playing it. So many chills
My favorite Spyro game has always been Year of the Dragon. When I saw the Reignited Trilogy announced, I actually cried real tears of joy. I know for sure that it'll get Spyro back up in the world. Tom Kenny is back, Stewart Copeland's soundtrack returns, and it's not too realistic in a way of becoming unsatisfying. What more can you ask for?!
What killed him? He's never been dead actually. He suffered a fate worse than death.... A hellish purgatory known to all beloved mascots known as THE TOYS TO LIFE GENRE!
IMO dawn of the dragon was the best game. I thought that being able to switch between Cynder and Spyro who had different abilities was really cool. Hope they bring Cynder as a secondary character again in a future game
As a kid, the most heart wrenching moment of my younger years was when I got Season of Ice for Christmas. I could not wait to play the newest game in the series... but it was soul crushingly bad. I could not believe that my favorite game series was reduced to this. To make matters worse, the PS2 game, Enter The Dragonfly, was just as bad. I knew at that moment that my favorite franchise was dead. I haven't played a single game in the series since Enter The Dragonfly. Year of the Dragon is still the best game in the series.
Highly disagree with enter the dragon fly being bad it had some amazing levels and great visuals for a spyro game at the time And to even compare it too season of ice makes me cringe haha i think enter the dragon fly was much better.
brandonprows if you haven’t played A new beginning or the eternal night, you should go buy a ps2 and give it a chance. I honestly loved it a lot, I feel it was just heavily underrated. Dawn of the Dragon was the last real Spyro game I enjoyed before they took off to Skylanders.
Yeah I agree. Enter the dragonfly was bad. How he was handled and all the bugs made it hard for me. And a heros tale was honestly not any better. They way he moved and how things were done just to me wasn't true Spyro. Now when it came to the new beginning series, I loved them and they were a lot better on the movement side. I still play the last one. But Spyro for Skylanders, is not Spyro. At all. I think that's what honestly 'killed' Spyro. I really do hope this new reboot will do the OGs justice. Cause they were and still are my favorite games to play. And I still play. Hahaha
A hero's tail was actually a favorite for me as a kid.....until I found out that the game is basically playing as different characters in minigames. It was a cool story concept and I liked the art style they chose but they totally focused on the wrong things for this game instead of moving the story arc further like the first three games did.
I LOVE the Legend of Spyro games and Dawn of the Dragon is my all time favorite game period. Im honestly hoping that the reignited games pave the way for a Legend of Spyro 4, 5 and so on!
I think my sister was 6 years old when she played the original Spyro on PS1. She was immediately hooked by that game and to this day, she adores Spyro 3. Now that she's 22 years old, she moved on PC. But she said she will buy a console for new Spyro lol.
same but dawn made me kinda pissed getting the concept arts and seeing that the war part would have had the elder dragons in armor and spyros and cynders final 3 sets were meh considering the concepts showed a lot cooler sets
Gently flying through beautiful valley of Avalar, gorgeous lighting casting your shadow on the emerald green grass below. That beautiful theme playing in the background. It was no rush trying to complete it...
I know right, the moment the game has given us freedom to fly instead of gliding during the first 2 games was amazing, it just allows a fun time exploring before we engage with the battles.
Exactly, and despite there not being any every-platforms-simple-obstacle the pitfall, there were still good sections of platforming, and falling simply meant restarting that section and not an instant death.
Funny that I actually grew up with the Ps2 Spyros. I was in love with the Little dragon during my childhood. The first actual thing I had that was Spyro was the little McDonald’s handheld from the Crash crossover. After that I knew about Spyro so I ended up buying the first ps2 game in the series and I continued to adore the guy ever since, buying his games wherever I could. But then came Skylanders... it wasn’t what I thought it was: a Spyro game.
I think they should age Spyro up, give him a darker tone, something similar to Dragon Heart where it has comedic moments, but is for the most part dramatic. I loved Spyro as a kid, don't get me wrong, I just want to see them take the next step and redesign, create new mechanics, ect to pull some of the older fans back as well as bring in modern gamers. I might get a thumbs down for this, but Dawn of the Dragon, (while by no means perfect) was a step in that direction. And best of all, you can actually FLY. It was the last game, but also the first to introduce legit flying mechanics...it's pretty sad if you think about it. And I'm fairly certain many Spyro fans would love to see and play as Spyro as a fully capable adult. You flesh out beautiful maps, back drops, level designs and you'll be golden, especially using today's gaming technology.
@TheBlueEyedFox I would love for the Devs to age up Spyro for a darker tone storyline... but sadly that will never happen, first, it's the West, not the East where you have gameshows about sex, or average cartoons, or shows for kids with said darker tones and swearing, or promoting porn openly (looking at you Japan)Spyro has been bastardized so they can put him on a stupid kids show that shouldn't exist, but of course, it's the West, everything is now for kids, forget us adults...Toys for Bob is never gonna do what you and I, and some others, want... and it sucks. While I do understand the need to censor some stuff due to being too disgusting or just down right wrong, but North America just has too many damned restrictions on what is either produced, developed, or imported (entertainment-wise). Look at Pokémon, or 'Yu-Gi-Oh!', look at their original show or source material, and look at what the West did to them.
@@gamers_9135 I think Spyro should be a teenage purple dragon and have free flying mode but better and higher up not like Dawn of The Dragon where it was just below the ground.
I think dawn of the dragon is such a underrated game, definetly my favorite in the series. It had it’s flaws, but got much more hate than it deserved. The atmosphere, the music, the stunningly beautiful environments, the touching bond between spyro and cynder, the nostalga... Man, I can’t belive this game didn’t get more attention :(
The first two Gameboy Advance games are underrated too. They're flawed and held back by the limitations of the system but they really are both SPYRO to their core. The isometric 3D animated graphics were really ambitious too, for anyone who's grown up playing the system.
DOTD was certainly the best in the trilogy. Main problem i had with it was the button mashing combat elements and the fact they made Sparx the comic relief. Would have prefered if he stayed as the cute silent sidekick.
@@snippy3112 I would agree. The funny thing is, the skylanders 'sequels' only use the characters of the universe and is the farthest you could pull from the word 'Sequel' or 'reboot'. Spyro himself doesn't matter more then any other character in Skylanders. Activision actually just used him as a marketing prop. It isn't a spyro game if he isn't center focus.
My favorite Spyro game was A Heroes Tale. That was such a huge part of my childhood and I remember always being in awe of it. The legend series was also amazing with all of its emotion.
"Naughty Dog has moved on from Crash to work on Uncharted", dude, Crash is back with the N-Sane Trilogy, and even then, he didn't just disappear when ND left him, I am astoned that you didn't mention Jak instead, because HE was left to rot when ND dropped him.
PikaLink91 Naughty Dog was going to make another Jak and Daxter game. It turned into the Last of Us, which I’m not particularly upset about, though I do wish for another game.
Dewberry - Yes, they were GOING to make one. But when the concept art took a more gritty and realistic turn and moved further away from looking like a Jak game, they decided that making a new IP instead of betraying the Jak fans, was the best way to go. They said they had grown away from kiddy colourful games like Jak, okay fair enough tough guys, but then what about giving the IP to someone who DOES care? I love TLoU, but I cry myself to sleep every night knowing that Jak is dead.
PikaLink91 I completely agree, I think there are still some plot elements of the Jak series they could explore. If I recall, they never explained the origin of the Metal Heads, and that their war with the Precursors was galactic in size. Considering that the Metal Heads were my favorite enemies in the series, I'd love it if they became the main antagonists again, because if what I said is true, then Kor was just the leader of the Metal Heads on the planet the series takes place on, not the entire race.
.. what. After Naughty Dog left the original trilogy, the games afterwards was plain trash buddy, and just because the remake succeeded that one time doesn't mean he's back. All they did was picking a game that was good in the past and followed the steps of the original developers. For all you know, they could mess it up again or something. You're better off being pessimistic. Oh and Jak? You mean that serie that was done for like a decade? The game has reached its end with a good finale.. and Naughty Dog or whoever owns the franchise doesn't really care about it anymore. Not every game need 53 sequels.. or thousands of episodes like a bunch of TV shows. So.. just give up already.
As someone who was never a gamer, I LOVED the first Spyro game. It was easy enough for me to play, and I’d continuously go back to it. I’d often restart games and play from the beginning easier levels until over the years I eventually was able to make it to the final realm and try to beat Nasty Norg. Such fantastic memories which still makes for fun, nostalgic game play.
They're really good games. Some of the only decent platforming games on current systems. Say what you want about having to purchase extras, but plenty of people buy DLC all the time, and that's not physical. Besides, Skylanders looks great visually, has some great music, and the voice acting's top notch. What is it specifically you don't like about them?
A darker spyro would be cool. Dragons arent fluffy loving creatures. Making a spyro game thats darker and more serious would be interesting and would definitely peak my interest.
I’d love more Spyro stuff! The little guy deserves more new stuff and I would like to see what new adventures he gets into with new gameplay and graphics
I agree. I think my biggest complaint would be how they felt the need to redesign Spyro. I mean if you just have to have him in it, why did you turn him into a purple pug thing? Why not just keep him the way he was? That isn't Spyro.
What killed Spyro as a series was that they released a string of bad to mediocre games (Much like Crash Bandicoot.) Skylanders was both a revival and a nail in the coffin, having the character who at this point, many late teens and young adults still knew and loved blatantly marketed to children as Skylanders. Which on one hand, kept the series alive by marketing it in a way that sold money, but on the other also basically alienated the older fanbase. The story of Spyro is remarkably similar to the story of Crash, aside from the whole Skylanders thing, they're pretty much the same story.
5:43 “A decent focus”, my dude he’s in the title of the first game and that’s it. Nothing to do with the story, just a cash grab to reel in Spyro fans. The other games didn’t even include him.
I never even bought the Skylanders because I knew it wasn't going to be any true Spyro lore. Like, even with the trilogy reboot it was still about him and him being important because he's a freaking purple dragon!
The problem with Skylanders is that it just wasn't a Spyro game. Even though the first game was literally subtitled "SPYRO'S ADVENTURE", the game largely had nothing at all to do with him, except having him as a playable character, and an offhand reference to him being the "leader of the skylanders" or some shit like that. Calling Skylanders a Spyro game is like calling Smash Brothers an Earthbound game.....yeah, no, not really, at all. Activision just used Spyro to bait people into buying the game, thinking that it was the next Spyro game, but then it wasn't, and future sequels had even less to do with Spyro.
manorman man yeah the first Skylander game was called Spyro’s adventure. That’s how I got introduced to Spyro, and now Skylanders is and forever will be my favorite game franchise.
The reignited trilogy really surprised me in a very positive way. Bought it two days ago and I'm absolutely fine with it... remembered me of my childhood :)
Spyro died because of Enter the Dragonfly. Crash Bandicoot had a much better transition to the PS2 than Spyro did. Wrath of Cortex, while not as good as the Naughty Dog trilogy, was still a pretty solid game and a very early release on the PS2. Nitro Kart was also a pretty solid Kart racer in the same style as CTR, even though it wasn't quite as good as CTR. So while Crash was still getting pretty decent games, Spyro wasn't. All the while, Naughty Dog and Insomniac were at the peak of their game releasing Jak and Ratchet games for PS2 which were the "new" thing and overshadowed Crash and Spyro.
Its just TACHO When If comes to Crash I know it’s not as popular, but Wrath of Cortex is my personal favorite because there’s just so much gameplay variety that you don’t get bored. I guess people wanted more platforming, but I found it incredibly fun to play because you never really knew what to expect in each stage.
I grew up on spyro, the 1st three were my childhood, I grew into a pre teen and got a gamecube, spyro, finally got a ps2 as a teen, spyro was there, game boy advance filled in the gaps through out the years and spyro wasn there, they wernt the best, but still had fun. Even enjoyed and kinda loved legends myself. Me and my mom dont understand the hate.
PsyKay it isn’t a bad idea but what I feel like should happen is if the the reignited trilogy were to continue in the future like we get more games in like 2020 or so I feel like the 2 plots should be woven together somehow but that might screw up the plot in general but I feel that it’s definitely not off the table but they would have to put much time and effort for everything to fit perfectly and not screw the games identity
Spyro is one of my favorite video game series of all time. My first game was Spyro 2 Season of Flame and it is still my favorite of them all. I hope he comes back with the lightheartedness. I did enjoy the darker side such as A New Beginning for example (although it was too short, finished it in a day) but what made me fall in love was the lighter side like my first game or Attack of the Rhynocs so I'd like a revival in that light but with new features. Spyro Orange was super fun too.
I do agree with you guys that it’s game type fizzled out because it seemed to me that most if not all 3D platformer games after 2004 seemed to loose popularity could be the result of FPS gaining popularity
Im soo excited for this remaster. I was addicted to spyro as a kid and it was the first video game i ever played. I still have the first three games and still play them from time to time. I can't wait to play and see my favorite dragon come back to life on screen xD
Spyro In my opinion is my all time favorite game. I don't think he was killed or murdered in any way and so when I read this title of the video I didn't believe it. All I'm saying is that I don't think he got killed or murdered and he is still alive well and happy. Stay strong Spyro, Your one of us.
Compared to basically any modern game, he is nothing more than a distant memory. Not to be "that guy," but you should research the numbers before saying a game is alive and well.
The Legend of Spyro series was a let down, but still oddly fun? They were incredibly short and at times way too difficult for no reason (The final boss of Eternal Night was terrible) I will say that Dawn of the Dragon was fantastic in it's looks, score, reworkings, and overall gameplay. I have fun playing it with friends even now
I must be weird cause I absolutely loved Dawn of the Dragon and Eternal Night on the nintendo. I never owned a ps1 or 2 so I could never play the old trilogy. I got my 60 bucks ready for this remaster!
I was super thrilled when the Reignited Trilogy was announced. I was a huge fan of the originals and the first Spyro was my very first game for the PS1 so it holds a special place for me. That being said, I’m pretty fond of the third game.
The VA for Boss Cass did a great job IMO. The series has never been known for its voice acting though. It's the gameplay, music, and overall aussie humor/style.
I personally feel like the second one was better in quality then the first one, as it had more content, and had a bunch of improvements over the first. The third though is of lesser quality IMO.
Having never owned a PlayStation, my first Spyro games were the Gameboy games like Season of Fire/Ice & Attack of the Rhynocs. They were possibly my favorite games as a kid and later on I loved playing the Legend of Spyro trilogy games. I just started playing the Reignited Trilogy and am absolutely loving it!
I actually like TLoS trilogy, but I think there's no point in touching that timeline anymore. And I of course am much happier to see a comeback of the classic Spyro trilogy!
I wish they'd at least remaster the TLoS series. I hate that the second game drops the Xbox platform. It also could use some popularity. I grew up with the first one on Gameboy Advance and the second on PS2 (although the disc got fucked and wouldn't load anymore).
One word: Skylanders. The remakes are amazing though but only because they remade the Insomniac trilogy. It's obvious that you can't just replace a talented dev-team and expect the same kind of quality. Would I love to see a new Spyro using the new engine and assets? Hell yes, but only if Insomniac does the planning.
Hopefully the new Reignited Trilogy does the series justice.

Hi, Roly 💕
Spyro sure had a great “comeback” in 2018.
It’s been 6 years without a brand new game.
I think Mario proves that it has nothing to do with the genre, but the quality
Same with the N Sane trilogy. It was highly successful last year.
Nothing killed Spyro
He lives in our hearts
Thats gay
A Normal House Cat only you would know kid.. you cannot possibly comprehend what us older generation experienced back in the 90s very early 2000s
Yea and in terms of lore he isn't dead.
And in terms of reality he is getting remastered
And when you first buy a PS4, you can have him as a profile picture
Where the fuck is the "dead" part?
BATMAN like sogiking
aaaaww
I’ve always really enjoyed The Legend of Spyro games. I thought they were all amazing, and imo the graphics still hold up really well. The third one, Dawn of the Dragon, is probably one of my favorite games of all time. The (almost) open world & flying I loved, and I could play it with a friend!
My favorite Spyro game was Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. I loved it for the story, graphics, new elements to use, addition of Cynder who was really cool
YOU CAN FLYY!!! YOU CAN FREAKING FLY!!!!!
my reaction at first fight :D
makaramuss no other game has done flying so well
I know right :D It was my most happy spyro moment in my life :P
game fly
"you can fly... 9/10 will play agai... wait didnt even play yet ok... will play twice"
makaramuss I just liked the fact that Cynder ACTUALLY attacks and kills enemy instead of just being a character wall.
Dj Jolteon love the legend of Spyro games and I did like it that you could fly without being on a special level like previous games
Don't forget that Enter the Dragonfly was also cut short with half of the game being drope due to time constraints.
A sure fire way to kill a franchise.
even as a kid I noticed how half of it seems to be missing lol.
Have people ever digged out cut content?
PikaLink91 It still managed to be one of the very best games in that series...
William Van Parys Either you didn’t play the originals, or they managed to get considerably worse after ETD.
Enter the dragonfly had the potential to be good, the development was just rushed
dawn of the dragon was actually a very amazing spyro higher graphics then i expected at the time and i did love the story line now if they could make more like that one it would be great
Honestly I want a combo of the legend trilogy and the originals...
Hear me out
So the legend trilogy has good story and combat right?
The original trilogy has good aesthetic, gameplay mechanics, and was very colorful
Combine these with the new design we have now and toys for bob or insomniac and I feel a KILLER game could be made
The Real Dongerino This should get more thumbs up
A fun game doesnt need a story
So... a a Spyro game that has a pretty good story with combat and collectathon? Hell yes!
I like the way you think.
Exakt what i thing
*closes door, cocks shotgun*
heres what i dont get. these game devs take the title of games that have amazing camps behind the title.
Then people like you, come on and say "well, its just a diffrent style of game" or "why not let Bethesda do their own thing" or "why not let them make the game different?"
BECAUSE.
Thank you guys for all the amazing videos.
Thanks for the support.
A Hero’s Tail was 👌. My childhood game.
I also had both crash purple and Spyro orange
wait so your like 16?
DragoserakerIT good guess but I’m 17
holy shit i wasnt that far off hahaha
I loved Cynder as a character is TLOS, especially Dawn of the Dragon
What killed Spyro? Skylanders.
What will resurrect him? ReIgnited Trilogy.
To be more exact: The absolute terrible Characterdesign of Spyro in Skylanders.
let skylanders exist.... but please take spyro out of it
His face in Skylanders, there was no excuse for that...
Joel James are you 8?
Reignited is so good! I’m on Year of the Dragon now.
Nothing killed spyro
It had its time and became a legend. Legends dont need to add new shit to be amazing.
“The legend will never die” - Soul Calibur
except the fact that the first game not developed by insomniac and every game there after was shit
Tim Worley
The legend games was actually pretty good, at least compared to the rest of them.
What other mascots are you talking about? Nintendo's Amiibo?
The Sypro series is and will always be a part of my childhood.
Same.
IMO dawn of the dragon was the best game. I thought that being able to switch between Cynder and Spyro who had different abilities was really cool. Hope they bring Cynder as a secondary character again in a future game
Chizzy. C me too I loved it
It was especially fun with friends, but it was like reall hard? Or maybe we were really bad at this game.
Kyuuru We were young when we played that’s probably why lol. When my cousin played I remember he was worse than the ai :/
Cynder was certainly an interesting counterpart to spyro. U could argue she was kind of what made the legend of spyro series interesting.
No shitty legend of Spyro games are not allowed plz
You should play A Hero's Tale. It's really great.
brandonprows if you haven’t played A new beginning or the eternal night, you should go buy a ps2 and give it a chance.
Hahaha
Yea u could feel it. Even in 2002...like is this really spyro? spyro oragne was the last spyro game I played.....yuck
A hero's tail was actually a favorite for me as a kid.....until I found out that the game is basically playing as different characters in minigames. It was a cool story concept and I liked the art style they chose but they totally focused on the wrong things for this game instead of moving the story arc further like the first three games did.
My first game i remember was a hero's tail and probably nostalgia blinds me but its my favourite game of all time
Alexdito18 I thought it was a pretty decent game, especially when compared to enter the dragonfly
It’s my favourite Spyro game besides A Hero’s Tail.
Can’t wait for the remastered version!!
Christoffer Røsnes same
I just want that skate board level in hd
Seems more like a remake, really.
humandxp This isn't Capcom, though, is it?
humandxp dmc4 may have used the same levels but it made sense because Nero had to go back to the city I found it a bit annoying yeah but it made sense
I LOVE the Legend of Spyro games and Dawn of the Dragon is my all time favorite game period. Im honestly hoping that the reignited games pave the way for a Legend of Spyro 4, 5 and so on!
Spyro A Hero's Tail was brilliant, not as good as the originals but very close.
Josh Cookson it was my favorite
Josh Cookson I have played many great Spyro games but, A Hero's Tail is, the second worst of the games I played...
@@WAVP371
I like Spyro Shadow Legacy and we need Spyro Shadow Legacy Remastered too.
absolutely agree
Josh Cookson I agree
I think my sister was 6 years old when she played the original Spyro on PS1. She was immediately hooked by that game and to this day, she adores Spyro 3. Now that she's 22 years old, she moved on PC. But she said she will buy a console for new Spyro lol.
Reignited trilogy is AMAZING, now I want The Legend of Spyro trilogy remake 😎
I loved the first two legend of spyro games especially Eternal Night
The Dragon Becomes Me SAME! 😃👍😎
Dawn of thr Dragon was amazing too
Evelyn the moon wolf While its gameplay was different and so was the tone, it had it's own charm and atmosphere to it. It was its own new world.
I love the story of the ledgend of spyro trilogy
same but dawn made me kinda pissed getting the concept arts and seeing that the war part would have had the elder dragons in armor and spyros and cynders final 3 sets were meh considering the concepts showed a lot cooler sets
I don't think I've ever disliked a spyro game. Except skylanders. Gross
Layne Cox but skylanders isn't a spyro game?
I only played first 3 as a kid and didn't know of the others. I thought it just went to skylanders and that ruined it's good to know though
Pandalex agreed.
Pandalex I disagree, at least with the first Skylanders game. At least Skylanders was set in the same universe as the Spyro games.
I just didn’t like that game because you had to buy more characters in order to be good or unlock all the content.
I would love having the TLOS trilogy remastered too while their at it, so they can see which type to go with if/when they reboot the entire series.
My favorite Spyro game was Legend of Spyro trilogy.
linkzellda that was also my favorite one
I wish they remastered legend of spyro
linkzellda same I miss that game
Absolutely
All the way. 👍
1. You didn't mention the canceled Spyro movie.
2. Decline in quality and lack of interest in the genre? Super Mario says hi.
There was a cancelled spyro movie? What? I would like see a spyro movie
The legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon and Ryptos Rage were my favorites
All of the legend of spyro series but fav would have to be Dawn of the dragon. Cause the graphics were amazing at the time.
I definitely agree
Dingus Doodlez fasho agree with you on that. Graphics were lowkey ahead of its time
Funny that I actually grew up with the Ps2 Spyros.
I still have one of those handhelds lol I freaked when I first saw them in my happy meal
I love the new spyro trilogy. Brings back my childhood
The legend of Spyro Dawn of the dragon was the first game I've ever owned, I loved it,dat shit good
Αρης Μαρτιδης There are so many better Spyro's than that one... Like all of them!!!
I've been looking for this comment. Thanks ! I think you've said it all, really.
@TheBlueEyedFox
I would love for the Devs to age up Spyro for a darker tone storyline... but sadly that will never happen, first, it's the West, not the East where you have gameshows about sex, or average cartoons, or shows for kids with said darker tones and swearing, or promoting porn openly (looking at you Japan)Spyro has been bastardized so they can put him on a stupid kids show that shouldn't exist, but of course, it's the West, everything is now for kids, forget us adults...Toys for Bob is never gonna do what you and I, and some others, want... and it sucks.
What about Dawn of the Dragon?
Dawn of the Dragon is the most grown up Spyro ever will be unfortunatly
@@gamers_9135
I think Spyro should be a teenage purple dragon and have free flying mode but better and higher up not like Dawn of The Dragon where it was just below the ground.
Let me save you from wasting your time. They changed the franchise too much; alienating their original playerbase.
I think dawn of the dragon is such a underrated game, definetly my favorite in the series. It had it’s flaws, but got much more hate than it deserved. The atmosphere, the music, the stunningly beautiful environments, the touching bond between spyro and cynder, the nostalga... Man, I can’t belive this game didn’t get more attention :(
The Legend of Spyro trilogy overral should get looked at more often for it's risks, and what it does well as a game.
Would have prefered if he stayed as the cute silent sidekick.
we should be asking what *reignited* Spyro the Dragon
@@snippy3112 marketing and business 101
@@snippy3112 i honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
Looking forward to jumping into some more Spyro action!
Does Sony own the Jak IP?
Skylanders killed him. The toys coming to life gimmick became bland and pretty expensive. Activision kinda used his recognition to sell toys.
DorsalFire the legend series didn’t help anything either those games were trash
They're really good games. Some of the only decent platforming games on current systems. Say what you want about having to purchase extras, but plenty of people buy DLC all the time, and that's not physical. Besides, Skylanders looks great visually, has some great music, and the voice acting's top notch. What is it specifically you don't like about them?
Snippy Couldn't agree more. A real shame. It usually boils down to 'spyro looks ugly'. Sure, he does. And, so what?
I loved Skylanders, and I still do! People ignore that it can actually be a fun game to play
Same. I'm playing Swap Force now, which is a lot of fun. Then it's on to Trap Team. Gorgeous looking games.
A darker spyro would be cool. Dragons arent fluffy loving creatures. Making a spyro game thats darker and more serious would be interesting and would definitely peak my interest.
don't you remember when they tried that with sonic..... we don't need another series ruined
It wont be ruined if they do it right.
I’d love more Spyro stuff! The little guy deserves more new stuff and I would like to see what new adventures he gets into with new gameplay and graphics
I didnt grow up playing spyro, but i did get the reignited trilogy and am absolutely in love!
The Legend Of Spyro: Dawn of The Dragon.
Idk why but I really liked that game, I loved that it was more combat focused
No shitty legend of Spyro games are not allowed plz
Not hearing enough love for a new beginning, that game was amazing, played it all within like 2 days
We can all agree that Spyro is great, but man why skylanders...
Michael Janos it is a good game
Why do people blame skylanders? Spyro had sone bad games and Activision kept him alive. Aside from the design he was treated fine.
I guess you could say Skylanders is a mixed reality game.
Skylanders by itself is alright, but Spyro shouldn't have been part of it
I agree. I think my biggest complaint would be how they felt the need to redesign Spyro. I mean if you just have to have him in it, why did you turn him into a purple pug thing? Why not just keep him the way he was? That isn't Spyro.
I loved the legend series
Johnathan Hamilton Same! 😃👍
Jake, you should make your own channel. You have a really good choice of words and your commentary is strangely captivating. Maybe that’s just me tho
My favorites
Classic: ripto’s rage/gateway to glimmer
Legend: eternal night
Skylanders: the first game
Ripto's rage was my childhood
cosmos it’s actually both, GTG and RR I fixed it now.
My favorite skylanders is Skylanders Swap Force. The best
CHBB gameplays me too it has an amazing story and much more greatness
What killed Spyro as a series was that they released a string of bad to mediocre games (Much like Crash Bandicoot.) Skylanders was both a revival and a nail in the coffin, having the character who at this point, many late teens and young adults still knew and loved blatantly marketed to children as Skylanders. Which on one hand, kept the series alive by marketing it in a way that sold money, but on the other also basically alienated the older fanbase.
The story of Spyro is remarkably similar to the story of Crash, aside from the whole Skylanders thing, they're pretty much the same story.
Heck, Crash just recently got Skylanders figurines, before the remake.
when a dragon dies, he does not truly leave this world. His spirit lives on, binding itself with nature, offering hope for the future...
5:43 “A decent focus”, my dude he’s in the title of the first game and that’s it. Nothing to do with the story, just a cash grab to reel in Spyro fans. The other games didn’t even include him.
He has a big part of the story in Skylanders Imaginators and is the main character of Skylanders Academy. Get your facts straight.
FragileSymphonia Oh gee twice wow
iSliceDice This is literally a fact right here
I never even bought the Skylanders because I knew it wasn't going to be any true Spyro lore. Like, even with the trilogy reboot it was still about him and him being important because he's a freaking purple dragon!
I saw him and had to be told it was even Spyro because I couldn't tell. And then I cried and vowed to never play the game.
i loved all the console spyro games up to new beginning.
Holy shit,I wasn't even aware that Skylanders was part of Spyro.
manorman man yeah the first Skylander game was called Spyro’s adventure. That’s how I got introduced to Spyro, and now Skylanders is and forever will be my favorite game franchise.
MainManMcGee Skylanders is not a Spyro game. How are people still pretending it ever was?
At least the Skylanders games are MILES better than every Spyro game
Skylanders was amazing ok. It's just that Spyro was used to help market it.
It only makes sense that I get the Spyro Reignited Trilogy ad before this video starts
Lol
Why Dark and Gritty?
They can make it a different type of adventure with darker themes without it being a dark game.
Spyro is still a cute character.
The reignited trilogy really surprised me in a very positive way. Bought it two days ago and I'm absolutely fine with it... remembered me of my childhood :)
Activision.
Ugandan Knuckles ur dead but tru
Ugandan Knuckles wrong.. insomniac. Lol watch the damn video.
You mean craptivision
Dm
Honestly I was about 13 when enter the dragonfly came out and I loved it more than the previous ones. Not entirely sure why. I just loved it
I'm going to be honest I was always terrible at Crash Bandicoot games but Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex was pretty badass game
I loved enter the dragonfly =(
The biggest problem with Wrath of Cortex was the length of load times and how many there is.
Man spyro is my childhood
My 2 favorite Spyro games are Dawn of The Dragon and The Legend of Spyro and I think they should reboot Dawn of The Dragon
But also what if they just branched off and make something new and unique something different from post insomniac or tlos
Man, if they do a Jak and Daxter remastered trilogy next, that'd be awesome
Floyd Bishop I’m honestly surprised that it hasn’t been done.
Floyd Bishop they did for ps3
Remasters, remasters
I do agree with you guys that it’s game type fizzled out because it seemed to me that most if not all 3D platformer games after 2004 seemed to loose popularity could be the result of FPS gaining popularity
What about the Wii?
Literally Spyro is my childhood. The original three and Spyro a new beginning were my life when I was 6. I hope the series can come back!
I personally loved a Hero’s tale and the game boy advance games
Spyro got devoured
Cresce?
Happy guilmon yes?
Cresce how did he get devoured was it fan base?
He got devoured by a demon dog in Dark Passage
* Bududtshs *
Lone Wolf I agree
Compared to basically any modern game, he is nothing more than a distant memory. Not to be "that guy," but you should research the numbers before saying a game is alive and well.
Ryan I'll consider it😂😂
Original holds up really well. Imo 3d platformers and mascots have fallen out of favor for create-your-own character
Thanks for thinking positively!
We need more optimistic qualities like you’rs!😀
The Legend of Spyro series was a let down, but still oddly fun? They were incredibly short and at times way too difficult for no reason (The final boss of Eternal Night was terrible)
I will say that Dawn of the Dragon was fantastic in it's looks, score, reworkings, and overall gameplay. I have fun playing it with friends even now
You covered everything! Except for the crash and Spyro super pack which includes bothe orange and purple
I haven't watched the video, but I'm going to go on a limb here and say Activision. Activision killed Spyro.
He is back now!

IM ABOUT TO END THIS MANS WHOLE CAREER
@@Angela-nd2ub You really should have said: I'M ABOUT TO START THIS MAN'S WHOLE CAREER!
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger was/is a great series! You guys should do a video on it!
Spadraig Gaming just picked up the second one on steam and woah the voice acting is atrocious
The VA for Boss Cass did a great job IMO. The series has never been known for its voice acting though. It's the gameplay, music, and overall aussie humor/style.
And don't forget some of the dirty jokes in the first one....😉
Spadraig Gaming I feel like the sequels had a decline in quality but 1 is an all-time ckassic
I personally feel like the second one was better in quality then the first one, as it had more content, and had a bunch of improvements over the first. The third though is of lesser quality IMO.
I wonder what kind of spyro meme will be born
NO SKYLANDERS IS GOOD AND THE REST ARE UTTERLY TERRIBLE
Skylanders is amazing and Spyro is too
Yeah you’re wrong
