Kinda wish Jesse would've tried to use some affordable materials when making the tonearm, the milled aluminum and carbon fiber plus the pre-amp makes it cost more than the pt01 scratch itself. Numark should consider partnering with him if they plan on redesigning and releasing a newer version.
Thats the case in any decent setup, a tonearm alone will cost more than a turntable, not to mention a decent phono; this package actually seems like a bargain.

Finally got my JDDPTA in the mail, thanks for the video; it made installation straight forward and put me at ease when I was nervous about soldering/desoldering capacitors for the first time. 7:53 did you skip a step to where the connectors on the board go? I figured it out by just freeze framing and copying where they went but it would've been nice if you explained it. Do you know if Jesse is going to make more things to utilize the extra power out connectors on the power board?
Sir wondering if you can advise me. I have to PT 01 keeping original tonearm, how can I make to tone arm light feels a little heavy? I do not scratch but want to make tonearms like these later rather than the factory 3 1/2 g. Way too heavy for precious records. Can you help me hack this problem? Thank you very much! Love your videos they taught me a lot, very informative and entertaining
I've installed on my two turntable one is perfect, the other made now a airy sound when powered up, plus the sound of friction from the belt on the platter comes into the audio. I have to remove all and try to see which piece is not working properly as it was not like this with the original tonearm. I've to Jesse Dean 4 days ago, I'm sure he knows this kind of issue.
I got a question.. With this Upgrade, and an Upgraded Stylus, how is the sound quality ? I’m asking for sampling use, because the stock pt01 out the box audio sounds thin.
What temperature did you have your iron at? Did you add new solder? Or just use the leftover solder on the PCB? -- Just ordered one to go on my PT01s. Super pumped! I haven't done any PCB soldering, so I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure I'll be okay... Thanks for the tutorial.
He's got a black one out now. Be advised, it's a completely different preamp. NO SOLDER on the new one. I just bought it, removed the capacitors then realized I wasn't supposed to!!!
In the installation guide for jddpta black i cant see the capacitors c8 and c18..so i think they need to be removed/unsoldered ?! But if not its cool, but seems to work without too !
Hi freddy! I have seen you got that ultrapitch mounted. I just wanted to ask if yours is working steady? If yes I would love to know where i can get a 100% functioning ultrapitch mod! Thanks in advice! You doing a great job! Respect from oversea/Germany!
I just got the newer version of this tone arm and I can already tell the set up is a little different. Not sure if we still have to remove the capacitors on the new set up. Also not sure where the extra part should be mounted and connected.
Check his webside...u will find something i am sure, he haves good tutorials for this. Installation is not that hard. Hope u guys get it. If not hit jesse up on instagram or facebook, i am sure he will help u out✌🏻
I’ve installed this and absolutely no sound coming from the built in speaker. I’ve checked everything over several times and nothing changes. I presume I have a knackered tone arm.
@@snaggedfiddle They sent me out a new pre amp after having several conversations which seems to have done the trick (sort of). However its pretty quiet on the mono speaker and I'm having issues like others are taking about with only coming out of the left channel, I'm not convinced this hassle is particular worthwhile, I wish i'd have used to money to repair my Technics instead, one problem after another.
Hey, Swiftstyle, Haven't heard from you in a while brother, I know, I know, you've been busy flying around the world... Lol, Hey, what power bank, and cable that you're using to connect your PT01?
Can i still mount the pre amp to the place whats shown in your video when i have a relay there for start stop ? Instead of the factory start/stop board ?
Fe Do have you worked out how to do this? I've just got the point where I'm about to instal the preamp but my relay is there, im unsure how to move it or what the wiring would be
Swift, I just received my JDDTA here in Vietnam. I referred to your video above, and noticed that the pre-amp you used and the one I received are different. In fact, there are a couple of pieces that differ. I referred to the video on the JDD site (ua-cam.com/video/kKWMM6O2rRA/v-deo.html), and that video matches the hardware I received. I think it would be in your interest to update your video or to refer folks to the JDD video, as not doing so might cause some confusion/screw-ups. Just a thought. Thanks for all you do, man.
Update: If you're installing this in 2021 you no longer need to pull the capacitor.
What about a Normal PTO1 not a scratch model some help on that would be good !
Hey I watched the video before reading this comment and accidentally cut the capacitors off. What do I do now? Am I screwed?
By the looks of all the modding, JDD should just make their own portable.

Best looking tonearm kit for Portablist turntables by FAR! Great video.

Does it really much difference in needle skipping?
I’m keen to invest only if it’s works

Works this with the stanton stx too?
Three tonearm wires, so R- and L- are linked together inside the tonearm?
I got a question.. With this Upgrade, and an Upgraded Stylus, how is the sound quality ? I’m asking for sampling use, because the stock pt01 out the box audio sounds thin.
Honestly, I would recommend that you invest in a full size turntable for sampling. These upgrades take some work and sometimes have feedback issues.
@@Swiftstyle thats what i was thinking.. i guess ill be buying a new turntable this weekend. thanks bro

Super dope ...is there one available for the vestax portable ???
Wish you did a video for the vestax handytrax installation as well
Hi man, great video and cuts. Does this tone arm works for right handed? I mean can you use in the other side of the record? Thanks
Awesome tutorial! Nice ultra pitch from Jesse dean any tutorial on that?

Swiftstyle thanks man .🖒
Can I use the pto1 strait arm carbon fiber nice lookn arm on my reloop instead of the one made for reloop spin ?
Sweet Video Duder. What Clear Record Is That Please, Just Out Of Curiosity?
what vynil is that? clear flexi cut?
Can’t wait to see what Numark has planned for the next iteration. PT02 Scratch & PT02 Scratch X Premium. All metal design 😉
So the only way is to solder? This can't be done without soldering? I don't own a solder iron..
How do i calibrate the tone arm???
Are u using the little metal plate/weight that comes with the shure m 447 for installing it on the jddpta ? Thanks mate
Ok no weight plate needed !
i was thinking design dj needles any inside word for me im looking for little help thank you
I'm wondering what switched was used for the start and stop?
What's the difference between this one and the PCB version?
Is there a way to upgrade the tone arm on the pt-01 usb model?
I installed my tone arm but I have a loud click when I turn it on and the volume is very very low..... Help
Same - did you solve problem?
Man I hope he restocks these, missed the release. Good stuff
Stephen Huang JD told me in 3-4 weeks..👍🏻

How u like the sanded down platter ? Is it better than the factory one ? Peace
Fe Do It offers great slip if that's what you like. But I honestly prefer a bit more grip for phrasing
Swiftstyle good to know thanks !
Can I install the JDDPTA on a Victrola Bluetooth Suitcase Record Player?

Anyone knows if it is needed start-stop button with this tonearm? Or can work without start-stop button?
Yue Sanchis works without start/stop button
Is better than the Bihari tonearm on your opinion?
@Swiftstyle Yo Is this going to work with the PT-01 USB ??
YESSIR!
will this work on the iON iPTUSB turntable?
I was wondering the same thing. Cracked open my iON iPTUSB and the insides look very similar, ordered the parts and I'm installing mine now.
