My favorite are the lambs… they are so precious. You and your family, though not perfect, are PERFECT examples to us all, wether we live on a farm or not. I was a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse for 14 yrs. The babies were not mine but were indeed mine in so much as I cared for them with that intensity & devotion. I see the same attributes & devotion in you with your lambs. I see the way you mourn when they are sick or die. I see all the work you do to improve their lives. You are very nurturing. I hope you will have a few sweet moments during this birthing/lambing period. You certainly work towards that goal. 🥰
As a former 3 lb 28 or 29 wk premie, thanks for your care and devotion. I know nicu nurses often have a high turnover rate because of how emotionally draining the job can be, but those of us who make it certainly appreciate the care. I agree about Sandi. It's hard to watch her suffer and be unable to comfort her personality. I hope she remembers we're all here for her cheering her on and sending strength for the bad days.
Lindalee Taylor Thank you for what you do/did. Had twins 6 weeks early. 3 lb 12 half ounces 4 lb 4 half ounces 24 hour labor, induced, but otherwise completely natural. When I was allowed to see them I was so scared. They were so tiny and hooked up to so many things. I set alarms off in the beginning. Made me even more scared. The nurses in the neonatal unit were so good. Helped me so much and taught me so much. You nurses don't get enough credit . So saying thank you to each and every one of you
Your Job is so hard really gut wrenching My mother was a nurse and she just could not deal with the sadness in Neonatal nor could my Gran and sister ... yes medical family all but me the historian artist lol. Sandi is great honestly treats her sheep fantastic
😁You werent my daughters NICU nurse 36 weeks 5lbs 12 ozs w jaudice & seizures. She grew out of those, from birth injury. She is a Junior in College she will be a teacher
I feel your pain. Last year's calving started out by losing my first calf then finding out 4 months later he was one of twins. Almost lost the cow too and that would have broken me

I'll keep repeating this in hopes that Sandi will eventually see it. You can be saved from these water disasters in barns, by installing smart shutoff valves. They keep track of normal water flow and shut off the main supply if a pipe bursts and it senses abnormal flow. They aren't cheap, but neither is the wasted labour and bedding.
I appreciate your presenting the raw reality of farming, how you can do all the right things but things still go sideways. It really helps all of us emotionally and psychologically.

You crack me up! When problems arise you dread it, hate it and even cry about it but you do something about it. You don't just whine and wait for someone else to take care of it. You figure it out. What challenges you face: The weather, cracked connector water pipe, flooding and ruined warm bedding in finishing barn, preg tox, stillbirths, accidental mutilation of a newborn lamb, deaths, births, the daily routine and all the extras. You persevere. You love and encourage the ewes and new bottle babies. You have a superpower! It is courage! Pat yourself on the back, Sandi. Well done in difficult circumstances.
There is nothing more annoying than completing a large task that takes hours to do, then have to repeat the entire process again the next day because of poorly manufactured plastic parts malfunctioning. I really feel for you Sandi.😢💝 Best layed plans, shot to he!! 😝😢

I'm so sorry, Sandi. Nature can throw some awful (and ugly) things our way sometimes! Working with horses, I have had days where I have stolen into the horse trailer and had a heck of a good cry. Hopefully, you gave yourself permission to do something similar. It helps a bit. To see the love you put into each new life is heartwarming, no matter the outcome. Things will get better and you have learned so very much over the years I have watched you, that if there is a chance a lamb can be saved, they have their best chance with you. A little helpful info, given with love and respect. The 'T' junction leak you mentioned, if it's not going all the way together, my mechanic father taught me to always heat the hose ends up, he used a blow-torch, to soften them so you could push the connection on better.❤

Gentle, I feel badly you have lost a friend and are about to lose another. I am in my 6th decade and so many of my friends & acquaintances (many older than I) have passed. This happens and I miss them. I am sure you miss yours. I do have the memories and eventually I work through grief. I then can smile at those memories; I am glad I have them. I wish you well.

You’re on top of your preg tox ewes making sure that the ewe and lamb are healthy and happy, you’re making sure that mammas are having babies with the utmost care and you’re looking out for your flock. Yes there are bumps in the road but speed bumps are only meant to slow us down and make us aware of our surroundings. You inspire me everyday to do what I love even though I’m disabled and can’t do much. You’re and inspiration to women and young girls that anything is possible. I love how, when a mechanical etc. problem arrives, you don't call for Mark, but you tackle and solve it unless it takes more brute strength than you have or is REALLY bad. This 86 year old city kid just adores all "our" problems and delights.
Hi Sandi, I don't know if you received the photo but Inspired by your videos for the past five years, I visited a sheep farm in Maryland craving the bleating. In this flock there was a ewe who had a grave accident and more than half her leg was torn off. Two years later, thanks to her shepherdess, Emily, she is having her second little one and is prolifically managing motherhood with a limp. Thank you for showing us the best and the worse. It makes me appreciate the sunshine in life and manage the everything else!!
I love watching lambing. I don't know how you do it!! Losing a lamb has got to be so hard on you. You work so hard to keep all the sheep healthy and happy. What a good shepherd you are!! You need to take a day for yourself every now and again, just to rest and regroup. Your audience admires you and all you do for your babies!!!

OHH, that looks like a 3-hander job, pushing the uterus back into the pelvic cavity 🙄 Would filling a spray bottle w/soapy solution make it easier to clean the uterus? I have such enormous respect for your medical care & nursing expertise, & most of all your infinite compassion for your flock! 💕💕
Sandi -- recently started watching. Please consider a couple of thoughts. First, water recirculator system. Run a return line back to a large cistern or better yet, a small water heater. Keep the heater around 80 degrees and set the recirculator on a timer so that every hour it comes on for about ten minutes. If using it to a cistern, about 30 minutes every hour or even running continuously. You'll still need the heat tape at the water spots. Water recirculation is a second line of defense after the line insulation that you are using. You would only need to run your circulator during the hard freeze months. Second thought -- looks like you have some sort of biological in your water line. May consider a filtration system. It will help your plumbing last longer. After lambing this year, we have a flock of 71. Much respect for the volume you do there on your farm. Keep on keeping on.

I'm so sorry, Sandi. Nature can throw some awful (and ugly) things our way sometimes! Working with horses, I have had days where I have stolen into the horse trailer and had a heck of a good cry. Hopefully, you gave yourself permission to do something similar. It helps a bit. To see the love you put into each new life is heartwarming, no matter the outcome. Things will get better and you have learned so very much over the years I have watched you, that if there is a chance a lamb can be saved, they have their best chance with you. The 'T' junction leak you mentioned, if it's not going all the way together, my mechanic father taught me to always heat the hose ends up, he used a blow-torch, to soften them so you could push the connection on better.❤

Gentle, I feel badly you have lost a friend and are about to lose another. I am in my 6th decade and so many of my friends & acquaintances (many older than I) have passed. This happens and I miss them. I am sure you miss yours. I do have the memories and eventually I work through grief. I then can smile at those memories; I am glad I have them. I wish you well.

You’re on top of your preg tox ewes making sure that the ewe and lamb are healthy and happy, you’re making sure that mammas are having babies with the utmost care and you’re looking out for your flock. Yes there are bumps in the road but speed bumps are only meant to slow us down and make us aware of our surroundings. You inspire me everyday to do what I love even though I’m disabled and can’t do much. You’re and inspiration to women and young girls that anything is possible. I love how, when a mechanical etc. problem arrives, you don't call for Mark, but you tackle and solve it unless it takes more brute strength than you have or is REALLY bad. This 86 year old city kid just adores all "our" problems and delights.
Hi Sandi, I don't know if you received the photo but Inspired by your videos for the past five years, I visited a sheep farm in Maryland craving the bleating. In this flock there was a ewe who had a grave accident and more than half her leg was torn off. Two years later, thanks to her shepherdess, Emily, she is having her second little one and is prolifically managing motherhood with a limp. Thank you for showing us the best and the worse. It makes me appreciate the sunshine in life and manage the everything else!!
I love watching lambing. I don't know how you do it!! Losing a lamb has got to be so hard on you. You work so hard to keep all the sheep healthy and happy. What a good shepherd you are!! You need to take a day for yourself every now and again, just to rest and regroup. Your audience admires you and all you do for your babies!!!

OHH, that looks like a 3-hander job, pushing the uterus back into the pelvic cavity 🙄 Would filling a spray bottle w/soapy solution make it easier to clean the uterus? I have such enormous respect for your medical care & nursing expertise, & most of all your infinite compassion for your flock! 💕💕

I am always impressed at how handy you are.
Sandi -- recently started watching. Please consider a couple of thoughts. First, water recirculator system. Run a return line back to a large cistern or better yet, a small water heater. Keep the heater around 80 degrees and set the recirculator on a timer so that every hour it comes on for about ten minutes. If using it to a cistern, about 30 minutes every hour or even running continuously. You'll still need the heat tape at the water spots. Water recirculation is a second line of defense after the line insulation that you are using. You would only need to run your circulator during the hard freeze months. Second thought -- looks like you have some sort of biological in your water line. May consider a filtration system. It will help your plumbing last longer. After lambing this year, we have a flock of 71. Much respect for the volume you do there on your farm. Keep on keeping on.

Tim from Ontario Canada… if you have a black magic marker with you.. and you are taking out the lambs.. you can always mark 1,2,3,4… in order they come out, and then on the other side of the lamb you could always mark the time that it comes out for when you do records… just suggestions
