Black Temple and Mount Hyjal released a couple days ago along with all the tier 6 content that Classic TBC has to offer, and without much surprise, guilds dismantled both those raids in the matter of hours, in particular, the guild Progress managed once again to grab world first, but there's more to it than that so today we're gonna see exactly how the race to world first went, and compare it to how it used to go back in 2007.

Also 2 things you forgot to mention. Nihilum did not know the tactics already they had to figure out everything by themself. And we have the final talents which are way better than 2.1 talents so makes everything also easier.

When everything has been figured out and theory crafted its just up to those who dedicate the most time/resources and those who execute the best. Back in TBC the first time around, they didnt know all the random stuff you could use to skirt mechanics or that you needed x-amount of resistance for a fight. Or that you can use this trinket to trivialize this mechanic.
i mean the raid still has 4 mechanics per boss if even that x))) ppl were just shit at video games back then + the hardware was rly bad
@@ogedda yeah I’d agree but I think the shit at video games had a lot more to do with lack of information then skill. Now we have builds that are mathematically proven to be the best. Not that information wasn’t available back then but it wasn’t easy to search or readily available and the presence of discord’s and other social means to find other like minded individuals to theory craft and come up with new strata across all wow servers helps alot too.
@@joshr8573 Yeah i mean sure but a build wont you capable of not standing in fire. Just looking at kungen being cocky how good he was and then playing like a full ape not even completing heroic castle nathria with his guild before rage quitting for being unable to kill HC Sire. So yes theres more information out there now but TBC even back then was piss easy same with classic if ppl just had the gameplay skills gamers have today.

Been playing Classic from day 1. Love it. And I'm very much looking forward to MH/BT and for sure Sunwell!!! Those were amazing raids 15 years ago. Will clear them all with my mum&dads guild in casual manner as we did whole Classic until now. Way easier today, not that much time consuming and even more enjoyable with some more years on your back. ;)

Wow, so if the logout skip after Gorefiend had worked, progress would have killed archimonde and illidan before the second group killed only illidan. That's impressive

Been playing Classic TBC since the beginning, and still playing it to this day. Already cleared Mt. Hyjal and for BT only Illidan left - we were not prepared xD
My guild cleared Hyjal on Thursday and downed 5 bosses in BT. Looking forward to going back in next week to clear more! I've been playing since Blood Elves were launched pre-TBC Classic patch. Leveled a Blood Elf to 60 before TBC launched and got to experience the craziness of launch with my guild. Been having a lot of fun experiencing the expansion again.
Nihilium took 11 days to beat illidan (world first kaelthas 25th may, illidan 5th june). Kaelthaz remained defeated until a couple of days into bt patch.

Our all Norwegian dad guild cleared hyjal and both raid teams have 3 bosses left in BT for Tonight, took us 5 hours but most had to leave because wife and kids aggro
That's about the pace our guild's at. We're 7/14 after 4hs. Hoping we can get at least 13/14 tonight.
Hyjal bugged for us. 3 bosses down, we cleared the waves and then before the 4th boss came thrall died without anything touching him. Happened twice in a row and wasted a full hour of our raid night. Super lame.

Congrats on the illidan kill guys sounds like my type of crowd, I'm a Norwegian dad 😅😅 but i just rejoined the game after a 14 year break .. wish i had my old account but i don't. It's been pretty fun to replay the game from start though, currently my undead warrior is lvl 38.

We had planned a raid on thursday. But in EU the raid released way late in the evening. So I have yet to go. Monday and Tuesday are gonna be my week 1 attempts. Can't wait!
I don't think you can compare the original raid to a rerelease. The first raid was hella fun, little to no idea how to deal with mechanics, now everything has been theory crafted to perfection but gratz to those dedicated enough to do these clears again.
I did 4/5 in MH in 3 hours and i thought we were a little fast rofl
You need to remember these people are pretty much professionals. We only got to see a 14/14 full clear in 2 hrs, but there were weeks and weeks of research, farming, preparation and testing behind the scenes just to make this happen.
My guild also did 4/5 in 3 hrs on our first MH run, and we're very happy with it.

I’m in an Alliance raiding guild on Mankrik (which is rare cause our server pop. Is dominated by horde) but we went into Hyjal first night and downed 3 bosses before we called it for the night. Our current raid schedule is going to be 1st night: TK then Vashj kill or SSC and KT kill, 2nd night: Hyjal and then a 3rd night for Black Temple. So going to attempt to clear them both side by side during the week. Once gear from tier 5 gets less needed we will dedicate the other night to most likely BT
Only issue I have with returning to Classic is considering which class to play, most likely would have to level a new char as well.
played classic, took a break. Picked it back up and played into TBC classic for quite a while. Little after phase 2 my guild couldnt progress so we all stopped. Just returned about 2 weeks before p3 and have been continuing to enjoy it again like i did previously. It was where i started my WoW journey in 2007 and TBC and Wrath were my most played expansions and even though they were, i still never really got into raiding back in the day, but now i have gotten the chance to experience every raid in TBC so far and hope to continue to to the end of it and into Wrath classic
Our guild cleared MH in 1:45 hours clean and neat run, we going BT next week
Been playing since start only did some raidlogging now at last bid of last raids , but now my all time favorite raid bt is out so ofc ill be playing more again :-).
We cleared night 1. Server first Illidan kill on Whitemane.
Stuff is just easy af, all strats are known, and we are geared af compared to 2007. Mother is not a big deal at all with many guilds killing her without a single piece of SR

Allowing top guilds to practice raids in public test server defeats the whole purpose of world first. The guild with the most nolifers and people with free time are gonna get it 100% of the time since they're living in the game basically. Same goes for modern raids too, its a HUGE mistake to let players see, let alone experience it before they're released. Everyone should start on an EQUAL ground and experience it for the first time on launch day, period.
Honestly they shouldn't need external testing for this stuff,but remember these guys all played on pvt servers as well.

everyone does start on equal ground since everyone can go test it in PTR, its ok to be casual you don't have to get so upset about it
@@Ragamuffins1 That's just bs and can only happen if you're part of a tryhard nolifer guild. Otherwise regular guilds wait the actual release date and try to make time for it.
That's exactly what happened 15 years ago back in 2007 when Black Temple was cleared within a month of release
I played TBC on release until all guilds transfered off the server and I quit.
Rolled a new char now on Pyrewood Village PvE Server and the amount of people leveling (1-60) is incredible! It feels almost like release again :D
My guild killed Illidan yesterday. I gotta say I will never grow tired of the rp before the fight. We were prepared.
How Illidan was beaten in 2 hours? People have been playing this expansion and perfected the raid encounter on private servers since the day it went off retail. Thats how.
Ever since my guild bought the legendary item "bidet" for our g-bank we haven't wiped once!
started clasic tbc on an ally server but not many friends kept playing stoped for awhile but i am now playing again on a pvp horde server with a lvl 36 pally.
I'm quite casual and started maybe 3/4months ago. Our Guild is casual too and we are about to try SSC / TK next week. Quite keen :D

Well it would be good to mention aswell that turbulence didn't even go for speed or world first kill on illidan tho they just decided to go bt after mh first boss. They didn't invis pot rocket boots or whatever many of the other guilds that actual tryed to get it used.
No, they were not trying. They just skipped all of MH .... just because.
I played TBC Classic, got into a guild and did Kara and Gruul a few times. We tried to do Magtheridon but just couldn't deal with the damn first phase for some reason.
The long gruelling hours of going through a raid in the hopes of getting a drop for yourself, dealing with the trash from boss to boss wasn't really fun with how long it all felt. That, plus having to grind dungeons until I can do them on heroic didn't become any fun once I realised how long I'd have to grind for.
And with some classes not getting picked due to another class doing more damage, making it harder for me to find a guild to be useful in and wanted irked my experience to the point where it felt I was interviewing for jobs.
something to think about also is no one ever on original release would have ever said world first tier 6. that would imply the set pieces and not the raid clear. what was more important back then was server firsts since that meant there were people who had something figured out that you could ask or join to learn it. kind of like how a company that does something first gets attention for the area. where as a class of students having a timed test race is kind of irrelevant outside of the desire to improve efficiency since the information is there for anyone.

I think it comes with the fact that players are better after all these years, and the hardcore raid player base has gotten extremely good and they've basically had a good while to study old game files while TBC Classic was being developed and they knew what strategies to use.
Thats insane. To think if they were able to raid reset would they have beaten that other team to illidan kill?

Well most of us already knew that prenerf Illidan was easier than both Prenerf Vashj and Kael.
PTR and private servers make these accomplishments insignificant

i honestly only ever did 1 raid for classic i burnt myself out haha and then i came back for tbc and was just bored nobody wanted to play so i havent even gotten max level and im unsure if i will come back even though i really want to i just dont see myself doing it without my mates
Some got stuck outside mh cuz world server went down like 20 times and the black temple pre q outside black temple got bugged this set some guilds 1 hour delay. Else the top would be different..
I just hope these aren't the same people that complain classic is too easy and there's nothing to do. I swear I know people in game that will say this, but also spend weeks on the PTR practicing the fights as much as possible.
Im just here for the ride and don't mind taking things slow similar to how things were in Vanilla/TBC, granted with far more information, but not taking all the challenges out either.
The hardest of hardcore players are never the people who complain about stuff like that. They make their own entertainment by going for world firsts like this, then doing split farm and speedruns.

I have played all of classic tbc. Really about to take a break after progressing the new raids and only raid log when I can after that I assume. I'm part of the wotlk waiting room though
Been playing classic TBC since the start and will play till the end. Loving the relaxed nostalgia trip. Don't feel forced to log on and do mandatory grinds to keep up like in retail. Can't wait for classic Wotlk.

I played TBCC for a couple of weeks, but I just couldn't get into it - my Classic Classic guild had broken up and there just wasn't the same fun any more.
Still playing world of warcraft all these years later ;)

From a mediocre guild we were 8/14 first night raiding 3 hrs . Didn’t have a billion locks though lol
That's not mediocre dude, that's pretty nice. My guild got 7/14 in 4hs and only wiped once to archimonde

My guild killed illidan in 14 attempts 24 man with one of our healers dc right before illidan and wasn’t able to log back in
Meanwhile on Warmane this season's harder Wotlk raids, it took people two weeks to beat ICC.
There is time to drink/Rez between Hyjal waves.
Honestly what do you expect from OGs who played TBC back in the day
Played since classic vanilla launch day, actively raided every week, even through most of Naxx. Raced to 70 when TBC hit and cleared kara/gruul/mag every week until T5 hit. Guild got hard stuck 4/6 SSC and couldn't raid much TK because roster issues. About 2 months into T5 my guild dissolved, I stopped playing about 2 weeks after that. Not very interested in returning until wotlk, or unless a lot of my guildies get back together, which is unlikely.
To be fair Illidan was beaten record time back in 2007 too, that's why they had to even create Sunwell, Illidan was meant to be "the" final boss.
Which article states that they had to do sunwell just because of it? I highly doubt it. They had SWP in works since the release of BC.

Yea we’re a casual guild for most part and we went 14/14 in 4 hours.
i took my guild into the PTR to take a shot at BT... we had everything else on the live down to sub 2 hours, and after killing every boss in 1 or 2 trys with only 23 raiders... i decided i couldn't face any more easy mode gaming :'D cancled my sub and after playing since classic and taking my guild from BWL to (pre nurf) scc/tk it was time to stop :P

nobody should be surprised really. Especially when it is a game as old as some highschool kids. not even close to the jump and run encounters they do nowadays and not as hard as it was for the og worlfirst guilds who had to come up with the strats themselves. Just enjoy your time and loot before wrath hits and bc dies.

Mount hyjal was a joke we do bt on monday hopefully its a little more challenging.

Back then there was no PTR, no private servers with the same raids etc etc. Data mining was not a big thing either and BiS lists? Well, not really a thing.

Both Hyjal and BT back then were not actually "hard" either and that being with the skill base of players back then too.
So it's really not shocking at all to see people clearing both raids in 1 day nowadays.
Back in the day they actually buffed some bosses due to how easy it was compared to things like SSC/TK.
People were unskilled, lagging and played with 15 fps but still cleared contents if they had the hardcore mindset so now in the age of information, low ping and high fps... 😂
Nobody has ever considered Kil'Jaeden one of the hardest bosses. KJ is an absolute joke compared to M'uru (with knockback, which we're not getting IIRC). Also, I love how as you call yourself a casual the camera pans and we see Belt of 100 Deaths... on your hunter. Crying insideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
It's almost certainly a belt of deep shadow, which is the same model as 100 deaths.

Cleared MH and the first boss of BT in 3hours and called it after the second wipe on Supremus because people had to leave.
Been playing since the start of classic, though raidlogging a lot more in tbc after phase 2

while all the rest is right, ofc, they can call it bug fix or what but this version is sadly a nerfed one :/ and while that may not change too much for top top guilde that's the reason why many in between managed full clear already
the dif/requirement are already on par with ssc/tk nerfed version wich is kinda sad, we are already skiping strat and phase from the get go at an alaarming speed

Tanked Illidan back in Retail had warrior with 4 set t6 and Bulwark of Azzinoth, stopped playing about midway through Wrath but came back a bit here and there for certain Expacs.
Probably right around BFA I started trying out Private servers for TBC like Excalibur, ended up absolutely loving it! Eventually I got all the way to Twins on the buffffffed private server called Endless. That's my furthest point in TBC and until I down KJ I can't stop playing. After that I might take a break, but more likely will stop playing forever, and focus on my life outside of gaming consistently...I hope 🤗.
TBC is somewhat of a big part of my life, and until I retry some of the other expansions is by far my favorite time in WoW, I have a hard time moving on.
Cleared BT and Hyjal without doing PTR first night. Considering some guilds were doing 5-6 clears a day on the PTR to race for world first we spent a lot less time and are not to far behind. Our Paladin tank was suppose to loot Vashj to get attuned to Hyjal but forgot. So we needed to bring a new tank that has never raided with us before.
i'd come back to TBC if i got some free transfers from my dead server, but i probably wouldnt notice cuz im not subbed

when they realese new expansions etc they shouldnt put out what bosses got for attacks etc, they should just let people spend a couple of hours and learn themselvs

I've enjoyed your video but in 2007 players didn't had CRT monitors or dial-up connections... They had TFT monitors and Cable/ADSL connections..
2007 is not 2004... Went a lot slower because no one knew the boss fights... No PTR realms or private servers...
thats what you get, when you let people ptr testing they speedstrat with consums for weeks.. also everyone is in bis T5 gear
We did hyjals 2nd boss and someone said illidan is dead. We finished archimonde off in 3 hours and then quit. I understand the race but it's like having a full steak dinner and getting full on the bread to me lol.

It's easy because everyone and their mother did it over a decade ago. It's not new so we already know the cheese and mechanics.
