I used to fence with him at his academy in SF. Through the time I fenced with him, he had this very hunched over, contorted stance and a strange way of moving around... but you couldn't hit him, so it worked.
is nobody going to talk about how at 1:16 it looks like meinhardt is using his foil to conduct the orchestra that is playing the soundtrack to this video and then his touch is punctuated by the music perfectly
Tom - You are doing a great job. We were just in San Fran, LA, San Diegeo and NY a few weeks back, but didn't get a chance to fence. Let me know if you fancy collaborating on a few more vids...Cheers, Nick
In the foil division of fencing, in order to score a point you need to have the right of way, as the guy with the right of way also landed his hit, the point was awarded to him.
Not to take away from Garazzo's win, but that last touch was SO Alex's in prep. Garazzo's weapon hadn't BEGUN to move toward target when Alex hit him. And the team foil bronze match really should've been the gold match.
Alex was counterattacking, if he had step lunged in and then garozzo finished his attack you'd be right but Alex is moving backwards and tries to block out

If you listen closely, you can hear the Canadian fencer apologize after each hit he scores
What hits?
I don't get why some people don't get it
@@rasmizielund4848 there's a stereotype that Canadians are too nice so they apologize for everything.

Alex's comeback 😍 counter winning is real
I'm so glad u put in the amazing comeback by massialas.
Excellent video for what was an excellent day of fencing. So glad I got to watch it all. So sad Kruse could not get a medal though!
Зато наш русский получил!
Gerek Meinhardt looked scary good during the bronze team match.
watching fencers doing those ridiculous absence of blade approaches and then getting a stop thrust in the chest is really satisfying
Awesome graphics watched it so many times!!!
Alex Massialas is a BEAST
+8301coolguy yeah, talk about focus
garozzo is the best.Italians are The best!!
...... nahhhhh
I can't wait for Massialas to take gold in 2020.

Where is LeFort's flying cellphone???
Wtf I searched for men's foil hair highlights got a shock when this came on lol
Welcome to the world of fencing
Gotta watch these highlights in slow motion, my eyes can't handle the speed
Damn, Ota's loss was so depressing...
He is still the Don.
I think he's reffing now.
Red:onthe:Rock i was so sad when he lost, like in shock
is nobody going to talk about how at 1:16 it looks like meinhardt is using his foil to conduct the orchestra that is playing the soundtrack to this video and then his touch is punctuated by the music perfectly
Thats a standard Meinhardt march attack
ahem.... You foiled my plans
Peter Joppich is the best! I had a fencing lesson with him!
So Garozzo won using only straight lunges? Damn
not really much more then that
Its usually what he does in each tourney... He prepares really slowly and finishes with an explosive lunge
Nice video! Do you know anywhere I can find the full length bouts for all the Rio Foil matches?
Amazing video!
where can i find the full footage?
Great set of clips...I have shared loads...when is the next one planned? 33k views...nice

you aur best fencer sir Nd me apki jese he fencer bna chate hu. ek dam bst
where can i find a full match video?
why the arkham city theme song thou?
Okay, after seeing how professional they are, I don't think I can do 2020...
*COUGH* That's is 4 years away, almost 3...plenty of time to practice my friend *DISAPPEARS*
Serena Ketchum came back to old fending methods?maibe the best(spanish verdadera destreza)
This didn't age well
How was that last touch not Alex's?
Okay. Well i did not see his beat attack, but we are pretty far away.
I still would've called that for Alex. Garazzo beat, then pulled his weapon WAY back and held it, getting hit BEFORE his hand started forward.
Not gonna lie, came here to find a clip where a russian fencer drops into a slavsquat to score a blow
so? did u find it ?
А что итальянец делал в команде ?
yes
3:43 why dont Woned German Guy? His led diods flashed first
he didn't have priority to attack, in foil fencing you must defend yourself when your opponent is attacking
Sorry, I don't know fencing that well, but in the last clip Massilas clearly hit first and Garozzo second, so why did Garozzo win?
In the foil division of fencing, in order to score a point you need to have the right of way, as the guy with the right of way also landed his hit, the point was awarded to him.
The referee determined that Garazzo was on the offensive, hence he had the right to score.
Epee is the weapon where he who gets hit, gets hit.
Why ur only showing contre - attacks?
+Tomas Koeck thats not true alex does a lot more attacks than contre.
+Tomas Koeck at first it seemed that u put only contre attacks not only alex's
Isn't this arkham city or arkham asylum music
Alas, if only they did this with sabers or longswords.
If you want to watch sabre then watch sabre...this said foil in the video title...

Wow. They are quick, but the footwork looks sloppy. Not saying I would win in a bout against an olympic fencer, but that just grinds my gears.
Why do you think it is sloppy? Think the footwork was amazing and a lot of variety.
Is this considered martial art??
Not really TBH.
Combat sport
Garozzo is the best
Right now it says that Safin is the best.
Idk why but it's ALWAYS either someone wins Gold or both Silver and Bronze. It's NEVER Gold and silver or Gold and Bronze.
RUSSIA TOOOOOOOP
Eh, HEMA is still way better ; )
HEMA Is for autistic wannabe samurai cucks who like to complain about what sports should be included in the Olympics
