The R46s were built by Chicago Pullman about 3 years after the first R44s, built by Saint Lous Car Co. The trucks were different and some interior details were different though they were mostly the same. When they were new, they had blue stripes on them, both the 44s and 46s and did not have digital side signs. 46s debuted the bullet look, the 44s didn't have the bullet. The 46s trucks had to be replaced because of cracks. Then 44s and 46s went with similar trucks.
Sorry these had rusting on their frame and it would've been stupidly expensive because at that point you're rebuilding the entire subway car anyways...
Flyboy Silver It’s illegal to film in the PATH system. So you basically have to do it secretly with your phone. Don’t try recording at WTC or Newark either, cops will be all over your ass there.
Um, u kno i like thiz Lucky Car just like a Twin Car from NYC Subway like y'all #MTA People just Scrapped dat Wrong Car back in 2010 like the Wish they Want i Back (by Any Ttme) & so do I az Well...!
Shelly Purty II ah, are you saying you want the R44’s back in service? They were retired due to them rotting from the inside out. However you can still catch the last remaining R44’s on the Staten Island Railway.
On that note, it's amazing that none of the St. Louis Car Company trains could not outlast the older Budd trains even though they made the more attractive trains.
@@subwayfantx1608 yep well only 1 survived but went extinct just a few days this year. R32s did last the longest who knows what type of material the Budd company used on their subway cars
them brake release ..oh my god
OMG I miss that sound echoing through the Fulton tunnel at the Kingston Throop station when I'd ne waiting for my train
These used to run faster across the Jamaica bay, I grew up on these cars they dominated the A line 24/7
There's Still A Set In Coney Island Yard..Its Not The Museum Set/SIRR Cars Either..Apparently Its Been There Since Retirement
Man these howls are sum different
Great sound effects but ended up being rolling safety hazards...
what's different about the r44 set versus the r46 set
Henry Legaspi lots of things with the technology, one outside difference you can see is that thick white line going across the bottom of the train.
Different car manufacturers.
The R44 was made by the St. Louis Car Company, while the R46 was made by Pullman.

Huge difference. Only thing the same is the body and seat configuration
There not retired been running on Staten island rail for 20 years. They still run there. Til replacement with R211
Those are not main line cars.....the main line cars are the ones that ran in the subway.
Lol the mn tried getting back in
In 2020 they are going to be Retiring all of the R46s and replaced with the brand new R211s
They already retired the R42s yesterday on the A train, but I'm not sure about the R44s and R46s yet.
They could've rebuilt them, like what the LIRR could've do the same with their budd M3s
