  • TaiChi is an ancient Chinese martial arts develop up to now about 400 years old.
There are mainly five TaiChi styles in China: Chen (陈式), Yang (楊式), Wu (吴式), Sun (孙式), and Wu (武式, a different Chinese character from the other Wu Style).
The Chen and Yang Style both styles are the most popular in China and in the world today. Both style are originated as a martial art and exercise for health.
There are basically three differences between them: Speed of movement, Force of movement, and the Spiral power in the form.

I didn't consciously choose Chen style but now I'm glad I did - I really love the spiral/rotation aspect of it

Thanks for clearly explaining the difference between the two styles! I tried both and couldn't figure out why I felt better after doing Chen style.

I first learned Chen style T'ai Chi. I loved it, but now in my older years, I am learning Yang style and it suits my need for helping with balance and is easier on my joints. I truly appreciate T'ai Chi in my life.

Thank you so much! It takes me many year of training chen and yang undestand the differences that you explained so clean in few seconds in this videos. When you start you are lost with so many information and you choose without knowing. So if you are starting try both! There is always an style you will love the most!

Thank you for the explanation. Since I have practice Shaolin Long Fist Kungfu (Chang Chuan), Wing Chun Kungfu and Jeet Kune Do for many years, I think the Chen style is more suited for me.

Thank you, a nice explanation of some of the differences between Yang and Chen. One of my instructors suggested that Yang slightly favoured 'boxing' whereas Chen slightly favoured 'wrestling' - I haven't really seen that in my personal practice and I would appreciate your opinion.

Marvelous presentation -- that sums it up nicely. I would add one other subtle difference. To me, Yangjia Taiji is really what Taiji is about -- developing and harnessing the limitless internal power that we all have - slow and soft. Chenjia mixes hard and soft, internal and external power. For young people, Chenjia may be more appealing. Older people, who presumably have learned wisdom and patience, are better able to appreciate and enjoy Yangjia. For me, Yangjia Taijiquan is one of the benefits and privileges of getting older. Enjoy.

thank you very much for the explanations. for me there was no conscious decision about what style I would do. There was/is only one teacher in the area who teaches Wu style. He was Tudi of Mr. Ma Jiangbao, who taught in Europe for a long time. What is interesting is that all the characteristics of the Chen and Yang styles are represented in Wu. the slow, long form covers the small range of motion. but within this form there is the "section" 4. here the step is slightly larger, as is the waist movement. From what I understand, this is in preparation for the saber form, which involves larger and more dynamic movements, as well as the lance form. As far as I know, there is also the very dynamic fast form, which can only become "fast" if the principles of slow speed have been practiced well enough.

That was great! The technical aspects of every martial arts are vary important. Any body looking to start any martial art should get all the literature and demonstrations they can before making a decision. I just celebrated my 32nd anniversary in practicing Chinese martial arts and I love it. The stupidest question ever asked is what is the best martial art? Answer it depends on that person. There is a stare in every martial art. Everybody can’t be Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, or Donnie Yen. Weather Tai chi, Karate, tai Kwon Do, or Kung Fu, a person must be dedicated, consistent, patient, and teachable. In martial arts there is no such thing as done or I have a black belt. If you deal a system that has belts any real teacher worth the money they are charging you would reply “You have only begun to learn.” Or “Now your ready to start .” All the Chinese martial arts masters I’ve ever talked to don’t have belts they go by years of experience and then they invest in you, great for dedicated students. Tai chi is no different.ℹ️💯✅❤️👌🏿👍🏿✝️🙏🏿📖🗡👊🏿🥷☯️😎

If we combine learning the both yang & chen style, should it be very good for our learning?

I'm a bit curious about the rotation/spinning in Yangstyle - cause according to my own experiences the more I get advanced the more I' m learning about rotation and spinning even in the forth and back moves. Otherwise it feels a kind of stiff and lifeless. Could It be that this is more a "hidden thing" in Yangstyle?

    • @geromino2007
      @geromino2007 Рік тому +1

Yes. You should have spirals in all of your Yang style movements. For example when moving back forward your weight you should be spiralling down to the ground through your leg from the kuas. Same time hands have their spirals. Over time these spirals need to become smaller and more internal that they are really visible anymore from outside, but internally they are working and making the energy more potent.

Chen Fist is not taijiquan. There is no historical evidence the Chens ever called their style taijiquan pre-Yang Luchan. And obviously, this fellow has never heard of Yang's changquan.

Zhao Bao is the oldest Taiji style. Chen was derived from Zao Bao. Yang learned from the Chen family and from some Zao Bao masters too. Sun Lu Tang (already a master of Hsing I and Ba Kua) learned from Yang and created Sun style.

Thank you master Ping for a very interesting explanation. I learned ancient Yang Style Taijiquan established by Yang L'u Chan. He uses also just like in Chen Style the explosive & spiral movements. It could enriches much nowadays Taijiquan. Do you practise this too in the class of Fang Yuan TaiChi?
