Peters and Lee were what the 1970's was all about they both fitted very well. Great song almost as good as their number one hit Welcome Home. Certainly gets my vote.
After the Original from Elfi Graf "Herzen haben keine Fenster" (Hearts have no Windows) in 1973, this was the first English Cover Version. There was also a huge Hit in the US by Bobby Vinton in Autuum of 1974, called this time "My Melody of Love".
Their voices blend perfectly. Always felt that Dianne Lee never got the credit she deserved. She brings a nice, gentle touch that is very easy on the ear. And, of course, Lennie Peters had a great voice. The perfect blend.
Paper Lace - Billy, Don't Be A Hero; Terry Jacks - Seasons In The Sun; Chi-Lites - Homely Girl; The Wombles - Remember You're A Womble. And many more...
Thank you for this old classic... needed to find any version after Momma came to me this moring in my dreamscape/planseape region.. to tell me, " Baby?.. I'm leavin' the planet.. " D Cries and hugs...as We all on the bus Home.. sing this song!!! * Thank you.. Bless you... We will All.. miss her.. but life is a circle.. as is existance.. and all.. We Mean ALL.. repeats itself... endlessly.. Namaste... Dre.
Ironic that this was #3 in the UK whilst the Bobby Vinton rework as "My Melody Of Love" made #3 in the U.S. - and neither one charted in the other country.
I know that the German singer Elfi Graf did the original as 'Herzen Haben Keine Fenster' and some instrumental acts of the day may have covered it such as James Last and Bert Kaempfert.
Chris Mulwee you have it backwards. The song was written by Henry Mayer & Bobby Vinton and first recorded by Bobby Vinton. This version is the cover and the U.K. Release of the song while My Melody of Love-Bobby Vinton was the U.S. released version of it.🐻
@@barryinglett7034 Wrong this was originally a German Language song called Herzen Haben Keine Fenster recorded by Austrian singer, Elfi Graf in early 1974 ua-cam.com/video/NdCsD_LDOks/v-deo.html. But I do know that this English language version was before Bobby's And here is proof secondhandsongs.com/performance/136611 Peters and Lee was April 1974, and Vinton's was August of that year.
@@barryinglett7034 nope, Bobby Vinton's version was August 1974 with totally different lyrics to this one from April 1974 and written by Bryan Blackburn. Herzen haben keine fenster was released in 1973

I love the song.
It brings back loving memory of the duo from 1970s
It`s clearly down too UA-cam that these songs are kept
alive for hopefully years to come!! Thank You!
You are so right, UA-cam has made a real effort to preserve this wonderful music. And it is all right at our finger tips.
This song could have been written yesterday
it`s that good. Thank You Mr Lennie Peters.
Thankyou brings back happy memorys of time spent in my youth with my Auntie
Jean, i still miss her after all these years.

April-May 1974.
Shang-A-Lang by The Bay City Rollers was also in the UK charts at this time.

This was out when I went on a school trip to Rumania of all places back in the early 70s. Good times.
ELFI GRAF-BOBBY VINTON-PETERS AND LEE
Three all time great Singers who recorded this
Classic Work Of Pure ART song. Elfi was original.

Beautiful
reminds me of my Mum, always playing records when I was a kid.
Me. too
some of us still have all their 11 LPs and 22 singles.
I prefer the English version because of the piano, clear beat and the duet. The male voice makes it more distinct. Very nice arrangement!

Regulars on hughie greens oppertunity knocks . ... stilll sound good

Dianne Lee was beautiful
very good
why are there so little visuals other than pix of this great act?
Does anyone have seasons in the sun by Peters and Lee???
Thank You mears89 for the reply, Yes it is good!!!
never knew about the Germans having a hit with it first.
Would love to find some backing music for their tracks lovely harmonies

A better song than "Welcome Home", in my opinion.
It survived.
(That thing you concerned for)
I'm guessing, however that this version is perhaps a direct translation of the German original, while Bobby Vinton's lyrics were his own
The translation of the German title would be 'My Heart has No Window' or very similar?
At lease you can understand them
This version predates Bobby Vinton's "My Melody Of Love" cover.
