I think white was open pack one I just think there wasn't a lot of good white opened seeing the two drops late is generally a very solid indicator I think you navigated this well and I think you'll get six or seven wins deck is solid
I'm a firm believer. Might not have quite gotten there with a couple of usual staples for the green white I've seen, but the card Quality is HIGH. Scrappy deck for the win like Wednesday's Raccys!
I feel like getting late Nettle Guard and Brave-Kin Duo picks are more of a signal that white is open that Jim gives it credit for. I would have taken the two Nettle Guards and the one Brave-Kin Duo that Jim passed, and I do think the deck would have been better for it. Results oriented, of course, but it seems right to me.
NONBELIEVER. Every time we succeed, our opponents get stronger. Two drafts ago, this would win with it's great aggressive curve, but with Burrowguard mentors coming down as 1/1 bodies and likely dying before they see 4/4 in stats, it's hard for me to justify it.
I never thought platinum-level drafters would still be falling for face-up Rabbit Response (they print some form of it in basically every format). Good gaming on Jim's part, but I feel like even Jim would admit he is getting lucky with some of his opponents.
In my opinion, rakdos lizards is actually fine, but its not easy to build or to handle. The match ups against W/g rabbits are rough, but .. they have some good rakdos stuff and kill spells
I dunno. Seems as you say messy... I think I would have taken the homesteader over the 3rd Mentor, but I'm not a professional lol. Good Luck NON-BELIEVER
NONBELIEVER. I think we missed out on some solid g/w sh*tters in pack 1 that really would have tied the deck together. Taking solid red cards over solid white cards in this format just doesn’t feel too good to me at this point.
Im so baffled my Draftsmith's rankings, e.g. pick 3 it rated Parting Gust very highly (a flaming 40), despite it having below average stats on Untapped's own limited stats website, and also has below average stats on 17lands AND specifically in the GW deck in 17lands also has slightly below average stats. Makes no sense that it would rate it so highly in that spot.
NON Believer! The problem with a set like this is certain archtypes become meta and everyone is trying to draft the same thing, only to find themselves starved.
One weakness i think you might have in your drafting, from what I've observed this set, is that you try to lock in to your first pick a bit too often. Multiple times this set ive heard you say something along the lines of "this card is alright but not really on plan with what we are doing" or "this doesnt really work with our *name of card you first picked*" when its only pick 3 or 4. I feel like the first 5-6 picks you should just probably just take the best card in the pack and only let your first/second pick influence your choice when it's a close choice between two cards but one matches your first card. E.g. just review your commentary on p1p4 this draft, you have a decent black removal spell, a decent red removal spell, a decent blue creature, and a decent green/black card in cache grab and you seem a bit disappointed that theyre not on plan with what you have so far... But what you have so far is just two generic green cards and one white/green card which you might not even play. I think this draft you said on pick 2 you wanted to force rabbits, which is fine for content etc. if you want to keep your drafts varied and show off different deck styles. But its just something I've noted you do a few times this set where you are trying to lock in your archtype by pick 3-4. You then sometimes pivot later in the draft, but i feel like being flexible early in the draft might mean you dont need to hard pivot later, you can naturally find your lane easier.
Im now Diamond for the first time since March of the Machine.
Thank you Jim Davis!
The turnaround on the dream meme was incredible
gossip's talent is pretty great actually Jim, it's amazing to blink unblockeable head of the homesteads every turn
That was indeed a strange draft.
Oooow boy ...somebody just jinxed themselves at the end. Get ready for match 43.
Workin' on it!
BELIEVER. I think there's just enough synergy for All Star Pilot Crewcut Jim Davis to take us to the sky.
Jim - you make ok cards play great.
Very strong run so far. Due to a lot of things I have to do atm I dont have time to draft this set. But B2M is a good supplement :D
28:30 is classic paid actor moment.
28:19 This IS a format about giving gifts!
Dude you are a great commentator this was so entertaining

Boy that draft was rough, but you made it!
Learning how to draft player here! Help me learn in the replies: what are some things you noticed from his draft? Comment below please.
In hindsight, would lizards have been worthwhile? They seemed open.
having dreams about getting banned from magic is wild but it would be horrible to not see you and seth in pro scene for over year
Valley mightcaller into valley floodcaller? The game was trying to summon the mightiest of frog decks
@53:30 Ooooooooooooof 😅😅😅😅

Feel like the only rabbit token cards in all 24 packs were those mentors. Maybe a couple carrot cakes that got second picked.
So nice of a set after MH3
Going to be positive and go with believer today
" The common MtG Pro nightmare ? " Not for you,Jim. You had a rare one....

is that Steve-O?
R/G was open all day...
i'm a nonbeliever for this one but its gonna be close with the 3 mentors
You say ur otters is the worst, but the untapped thing you pulled up doesn't even have uw birds on it
Non believer missed too many good cards but drafts are rough in this format lol
Nice win! Good job jim!

NONBELIEVER. Deck has some cool cards, but seems to lack synergy. Can be wrong and frog talent will carry you to victory.

agreed, Arena is a rigged garbage product
Yeah this set kinda sucks honestly
