I am an underwriter. I have had a lot of problems with the up stroke. Thank you so much for the information that you supplied. I think that it will help me alot.
I've watched a few of these videos in a row. Complete beginner, so I know nothing. 1st video to address sitting position, and correlate it to paper position. As I watched, i noticed how thoroughly you've covered every detail. I found this video to be the most comprehensive and methodical, with the logic of each step explained so clearly!! Best video on the topic so far. Thank you for this :)
This is the only vid I've found that is actually useful! Most people talk about basic stuff and position of pen (it doesn't change much) while no one really mentions that the position of paper is also important. Thank you, this was very helpful!
Very useful... after years of conditioning to writing as close to a righty - permission to adjust (I know!). I immediately achieved a much thicker downstroke with a brush pen. Quick drying helped. Now to see how I go on with a straight nib and ink. Thank you !!
Yes! I am an underwriter, and changing the angle of the paper made ALL the difference! i could NOT figure out how to get the proper pressure until I tried this. Thank you so much for the explanation of something that seems so "basic," but is often left unaddressed for us lefties!
I think it’s easier for me an underwriter leftie to become a rightie! 😃. My regular writing style is to not write in cursive, but I’m loving the look of your style. I’m going to start wring the way you do - side writer! Thanks for these vlogs ... I’m going to watch them all! 👍🏼
I was an over writer with broad nibs ever since high school. Dragging my hand across the ink was always the enemy. However, I recently discovered the extreme under writing as demonstrated by logos calligraphy. I realized that pointed pen, brush pens, and all the stuff designed for the right handed were suddenly available to me! Now I do copperplate without the ink issue and it looks like it should. In fact, being leftie provides some advantages due whole arm movements making uniform slant work very easy. Write on!
I started 2 days ago and my trace up and down were the same. I could not figure out what i was doing wrong. I am under writer first time heard it. Now, i will practice the way should be. I was trying to put the paper in the straight direction like my teacher who is right handed. You saved me from frustration. As much as i practice all was so wrong. Thanks thanks thanks!
I'm a lefty underwriter and I was never ever able to make the thin down strokes and the fat up strokes. Can't wait to practice and make the brush pens work for me.
Thanks for the video! I'm still trying to figure out how to place my hand. I'm a side writer and what I'm having the most difficulty with is when I tried to think upstroke to a curvy thick downstroke. I can't figure out how to do a smooth transition when pushing the pen and then trying to make a curve.
I know it's been a while since this comment was posted but I am just not watching the video and looking for other tips. I have the same issue as what you are describing. Did you find a solution or have any tips?
As a lefty, I don't write any of those 3 ways. My writing style is more "on top". I hold my pen more like a right handed person does (with the 3 fingers), holding it with my thumb and pointer finger while balancing it on my middle finger for the stability. _BUT,_ instead of hooking over or approaching it from underneath or the from the side, I tend hold my pen straight up and down (vertically), like not at an angle, and write with my hand hovering _straight over_ the lines, if that makes any sense. However, I do have to turn my paper 45° to the right. Picture it sort of like an "underneath" writer, except I hold the pen with a tighter grip, straight up and down (vertically), with my index finger pointing downward (facing the paper and the tip of the pen), my middle finger pointed at a 45° towards the bottom right hand corner on the paper, and my thumb at a 45° angle, pointing towards the top of paper. It's very difficult to explain. 😆
I'm a lefty who writes with my script angled back towards the left and from the bottom. I can't seem to figure out how to the correct angle for the way I write. Any help at all would be appreciated.
Left-handed here! This video is a big help! ❤️ Thank you!! Much love ❤️

Thank you so much! I had resigned myself to never doing this kind of writing as a leftie 'underwriter' but you've shown me just how easy it really is.

I'm an over/side writing lefty and no videos have been as helpful as yours! Please make more! Also, your nails are always amazing!
You're the first person to say NOT to change how you already write. THANK YOU!
This made so much sense ! I'm an under writer and had given up on decorating my bullet journal with fancy lettering..... thank you 😊🙏🙏🙏🙏

thank you for saving my hand ;;
always knew calligraphy was technically challenging for my left, you're a lifesaver.
This was so helpful! As an underwriter, this makes perfect sense! Thank you!

Your face is pure. Stay beautiful , lady.

@@nmcdaniel725 I also have a same issue? Have you found solution? :)
I love the tip about moving the chair! I am an underwriter, which is good for me to know. Your tips are excellent.

This video is so good! I never knew angles were so important! Its gonna save me from a lot of hate and embarrassment in school! Thank you so much!!!
Thanks lady. As an underwriter I could never figure out how to make my pen work. Use to be a side writer hated the ink on my hand all the time 😂.
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! Lefty here!🌻
Thank you so much! This is soo useful and hopeful information!!!
Thanks Missy. I'm curious if you hold a normal ball pen or pencil the same way you hold brush pens.

Same issue here! I don't get how in all these videos the right-handed angle is still being used. This is not helpful at all, unfortunately.
Very nice
I switch between overwriting, side writing, and under writing constantly is something wrong with me 😂
Nice video and its so cool my friend. Taralets. Bless you.
What about paper position
