CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Cole (Tom Cruise) is running last in the Daytona 500 when another crash threatens to take him out of the race for good.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Top Gun team of producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, director Tony Scott, and superstar Tom Cruise reunite for this excursion into stock-car racing that incorporates the vroom and rumble of deafening car engines with a rehash of the same elements that worked so effectively in Cruise's Top Gun, The Color of Money, and Cocktail. Cruise plays stock-car driver Cole Trickle, a young fireball on the Southern stock-car circuit who has loads of talent but no conception of how to channel that talent in to racing success. When Tim Daland (Randy Quaid) commissions veteran stock-car racer Harry Hogge (Robert Duvall) to built a car and hires Cole to drive it, Harry must instill in Cole his philosophy of winning and teach him how to channel his raw talent into success -- or, as Harry puts it, "controlling something that's out of control." Cole immediately comes into conflict with the circuit's star driver, Rowdy Burns (Michael Rooker), and their hijinks on the track causes them to smash up their cars and lands them both in the hospital. Because of his injuries, Rowdy is forced to withdraw from the circuit competition. With no rival to torment, Rowdy becomes Cole's supporter and friend, while Cole revs up his motors for Dr. Claire Lewicki (Nicole Kidman), the attractive brain specialist who supervises Cole's recovery from the crackup. Cole's health is restored, and he begins to race again, chastened and hanging onto Harry's every word. Cole appears to have centered himself for success, but in an orgasmic grand finale, Cole must compete against Russ Wheeler (Cary Elwes), a dastardly driver who not only wants to see Cole defeated but permanently disabled.

Every time I clear a traffic jam "I'm through it Harry. I'm outta here"
Man Hans Zimmer is just a freaking genius. No one puts me into a mood like he does.
Talk to me Goose..
He was probably thinking that when he went through the reck
I swear they should have just called this movie "Top Gun but with racecars".
Lol not that I'm complaining because it's still awesome!!!
@@timwarheit4908 I actually remember walking out of the theater and that's all we could say about it (it was Top Gun for NASCAR). That, and you couldn't hear the rental car race scene over the laughter!
How does this only have 54 likes lol
Hahahah🤣🤣🤣🤣
The song when he is on the other side on the smoke / crash is the best soundtrack i ever heard. They have almost everything to thanks Hans Zimmer for. Without him this movie would not been as good.
Seen Hans Zimmer live, he is epic
You mean 1:43?
Abolute agree with you! This scene makes goosebumps.
Greetings from germany
It totally captures that feeling when you get through a stressful situation.
same here
Amazing Music
I always turn up the volume on my tv and surround sound just before he goes through the smoke, love it
Dead Gipsy , get a great surround system or in car Bluetooth.. You can feel the sounds down deep lol
This is how i feel before, during, and after Final Exams...
This is what I feel when I can finally go after bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway after work.
Tom's is a master of show don't tell. His characters through their actions always show us who they are. I love it man.
This is literally Top Gun in cars. This moment is exactly the same as overcoming the fear of the jetwash in Top Gun :D
This moment guided me through passing a semi in the hard rain today...I knew it in my heart...gas
1:10 you can literally see the guy holding the smoke gun/machine lol
1:44 Gives me goosebumps. Every. Single. Time.
7 years later I tell you: amen brother
@@victorroque2804 7 years and 4 months later I will tell you: amen BROTHERS.

1:25-1:27 i can read claire's lips and she is saying Come on, Come on meaning she really knows cole is going to make it. Makes this scene more intense imo.
I love the part where he hits the guy in the rear bumper and then his engine explodes. It's live a reverse Ford Pinto.
1:28 This is an exciting scene that makes me goosebumps. Everyone (not mine thank God) who ever had a serious car accident knows how difficult it is to come back.
Greetings from Germany
There are days when I can not drive in the right lane for that reason
I always love the no caution racing lol
Ironically, this scene was baffling in the theater. Accelerating into the wreck, not slowing down for the yellow flag (which I assume was about 55 mph at Daytona?), and not talking to his crew chief made it appear like he was suicidal. I remember thinking how strange it was that such a by the numbers summer popcorn flick would take suck a dark turn - no pun intended.
Then when he pops out cheering and guns it (again, on a caution), I realized "oh, this is just REALLY stupid... I get it now!"
it's amazing Hans Zimmer basically scored this movie on the fly. Just, insane.
All the incidents, in this movie, depicts actual incidents in NASCAR over many years
Man i have to see this movie again. So intense
Driving tractor on the farm and the shot at 1:51 is how I learned to drive stick haha.
Such a great scene. Always watch this after I accomplish something tough.
Such a good movie, always gets talked so badly...but it was the first movie I seen in the theaters with my brother and dad. Awesome
1:50 always made me smile
@ 0:23 the car on the right has "THANKS RICK HENDRICK" written on the back.
Just saw new Top gun movie. Now they need to make days of Thunder 2
Always loved how in the movie he’s just weaving though cars like there standing still all the way to the front🤣.
yeah the magic of movies. Never seen in a real race someone passing so many so fast.
I did that in a motocross race once after I fell down off the gate I was passing the back of the pack till I crashed big time off a tabletop jump 😂
at 1.10 you can see a dude on the track with a smoke machine in his hand lol.
RobinHoodUKIP Wow good catch. Would not have seen that without you.
I saw that guy, that’s hilarious
Wow!!! Nice catch
1:10
If you watched this as a kid and didn’t want to be a nascar driver then you built different lol
Equivalent scene in Top Gun:
Merlin: Good recovery. Let's get in there and help Ice. Let's get back in the game.
Maverick: No, it's no good.
Slider: Goddamn it. Maverick's disengaging.
Iceman: I knew it. Shit!
Merlin: Get in there, come on.
What the hell are you doing?
Ice won't last down there alone...
Maverick: Talk to me, Goose. Talk to me, Goose.
Merlin: Maverick!
Controller: Maverick is reengaging sir!
Basically Top Gun, but NASCAR...lol
It's no good
I never understood why more people don't recognize this. I have been saying it for many many years. This movie is top gun in cars, nearly scene for scene.
I pulled the same thing off exiting the tri oval in a big wreck online NR2003 barely missing 3 or 4 cars, one of best memories and still have the replay
This movie needs more scenes like this !
I wish I had a race car like that to take to the local round track on Saturdays.
The music @ 1:44 rocks :-)
Trickles disengaging! Goddammit Trickle!
0:55 Camera Pickup leading the pack
0:59 Trackside camera with orange caution pylon
And the smoke effect guy, plus lots of inconsistensies.
But who cares, still the most awesome racing flic ever!
Forget the calamity remember hope and belief in yourself.
Beautiful
We need days of thunder 2
At 0:50 and 0:59 Cole Trickles Mello Yello car can be seen, major flaw in continuity
I typed in Days Of Thunder into youtube to listen to the OST. But now I'm watching movie clips instead. I had a feeling this might happen :D
1:50 when the cops find your weed and they wanna take you in for questioning
Cole Trickle..... let that sink in. Cole. Trickle.
"mavericks reengaged sir!"
Je devrais faire comme Tom Cruise aller sur un circuit et rouler ca me changerait les idées !!!
The songs in this movie are si good
best scene in the movie and best music D:
favorite scene/quote of the entire movie
Joshua Hodgeson does it have a good story
NASCAR announcer reminds me of the Pokémon stadium announcer's voice
"Sparks are flying on all sides!"
"Cole Trickle's managed to hang on!"
such amazing camera work.
Pode ter muitos anos mas é muito bom foi só pena não ter havido mais nenhum.
Caralh...adoro este filme espero pela secuencia
Wow this movie is sooo right. THe best director, the best actor and even the Pope JP2 himself in car #18.
There should be a days of thunder 2 sequel with Tom Cruise with The same director
With todays Nascar , NO , they dont have the charisma as the old cars
@@hybridAbsol i agree
According to the story rowdy burns dies and cole trickle takes over his car
Unfortunately, Tony Scott, the director of this movie as well as Top Gun, died in 2012. That’s not to say a sequel can’t happen though. If anything, I think either James Mangold, Joseph Kosinski, or Ron Howard could pull it off.
He still got gim in it to do it roll on bro
WOO!!! IM THROUGH IT HARRY!
My mom favorite scene. I miss her!
the music makes this movie
Racing back to the yellow was probably one of the worst things in racing history other than no seat belts! 😂😂
At 59 seconds you can see the camera on the low side of the track .
I loved that bit when he finished nelly got through it
Hes like kimi raikkonen in spa. No fear. Flat out to smoke
those were the days...
Nice Lumna!!
I know it in my heart
Gawd Dammit Maverick!
Now we know where kimi rikkonen got his balls from that time in Belgium 😂
Top gun in cars.
camera tilt at 1:58 love it.
The King's Dominion theme park a little ways outside of Richmond, VA had the Days of Thunder ride. It was a theater ride where the seats moved and that tilt was part of the ride. It damn near through you out of the seat.
0:59
It’s a mello yellow car that crashed
Talk to me Goose.
Cole was over revving the SOB lucky it didn't blow..... now cole when you shift the gear and the little needle on the tact goes in the red and reads 9000RPM, thats bad!
RIP Tony Scott.
I'm through Harry! I'm though!
Yes you are, Lloyd!
I'm through it Harry!
1:39 see rowdy spinning
MAVERICKS REENGAGING SIR!!!
I dunno about you, but when I see smoke and cant tell whats going on when driving... I accelerate into it lol.
en la distancia más larga es que la Energy alcanza la mayor milivoltios battery pore iron setting
Notice at 0:59 that one of the cars involved in the crash is Cole's. Whoops...
:51 - Mello Yellow Car #51 is behind the guy when the hood comes off. At :59, it is wrecked on the apron.
2003, to be exact.
When cautions are non-existent
And now, “Days of Thunder: Trickle”. Cole as a crew chief that has to get back in a race car to win an important race.
Cool movie 🍿
You know when the clips just to short lol
0:37 talk to me goose
6 car crash and no caution flag. Just keep racing lol
epic film
So, you always thought I go High, right? Big mistake, you thinking.
See Dale Earnhardt leading the pack awesome.
A ton of cars spin out and it's still a green flag! HAHAAHAH!!!
Sean OBrien before NASCAR went insane they would race to the caution
Out of all the safety changes that NASCAR made after Earnhardt's death, not racing back to the caution was one of the more sane moves they made. I still remember back in 2000 at Atlanta (spring race, I believe) where Tony Stewart had spun around just before the start-finish line in the tri-oval and was facing towards oncoming traffic. While they were racing back to the caution at around 175-180 mph, someone almost clobbered him trying to pass someone else. Had it been a couple of more inches, Stewart would have been the big name taken away from the sport that year.
NASCAR made a lot of changes in the post-Winston Cup era that really caused people to turn away from the sport, but not racing back to the caution wasn't one of them.
That’s what you’d call cutting it a bit too close.
1:51 hell yea v8
Geht mir ständig so, wenn ich aus ner 80er Baustelle rauskommr
Because back then they raced back to the caution. The whole rule that the field slowed down at the yellow wasnt started until after 2000.
if you pause at 0:58 you can see a destroyed mello yello car and hardees car in the wreck
"i'm through it Harry" "Ha ha I'm out of here" (on a caution lap?)
My assumption is he drove thru the mess as the caution was coming out. He got thru it and got his confidence back and when the race resumed he was back on.
jsdzx Yeah it just looks weird the way they edited it.
You have to let goose go Maverick lol
I'm British but I did live in Austin when I was a kid
Meant to say this is where my fun of nascar came from
1:48 Harry: 😀
If you pause at 0:59 you can see the #51 in the crash lol
This just happened to me on my motorcycle that's why 'm here....
so it was goose 🦆
