I was this close to playing college hockey next season. Lately a few opportunities have been popping up and I'm increasingly optimistic for next year. Wednesday and Fridays video will also touch a lot of College Hockey, and both the academic and sporting side moving forward. See you Wednesday for the next video :) - Trav
Your Dad is awesome, keep close and never take him for granted. I lost my Dad last year and I miss him every day! I like how you include his opinions in your videos, shows your true character. Keep up the good work!
If you play ACHA your first year keep pushing for NCAA the next. You’re going to go pro just give it time and avoid injury. I’m riding as an ECHL EBUG right now. I’ve been called in 10 times this year. Watching your content inspires me to go further. You’re a legend brah.
Hey Trav! I’m a big fan, just wanted to let you know that I come back time and time again to this channel because of how much I admire your work ethic. Your drive, grit, and determination is something that every athlete aspires for. Thanks for the hours of entertainment and inspiration.
Keep up the good battle man! Mad respect for chasing your dream! You keep a realistic view on it but still push yourself to be better. You deserve the best.
That was Awsome heading your dad speak. As a father of two young boys in hockey I think your a great role model. Keep up the good work and like your father says never give up!
I love how much you love Winnipeg, breath of fresh air. I’ve been living here all my life and I feel like it gets hate. there’s never been a better hockey city!
Keep up the hard work man! I’ve been following you for a little over a year now and what you’re doing is paying off man keep grinding, like you said you were so close.
I'm a goalie from years gone by. 1982-1996 I still love the old style of goalie pads, I like the knee rolls of past, not so much the flat no lines of pads of today. I was a 50/50 goalie I didn't mind the RVH but I was more of a stand up style. I was going to try my hand at AA but I ripped my right hamstring in half at the try outs and I took that as a career ender. I never put the pads on again. I miss it, but now I'm too damn old and out of shape to even think about getting back into it. You're very good, don't give up!! I was a big trash talker myself. God Bless.
Trav4oilers love the videos , you always inspire me I’m trying to play junior and it’s hard to put your self out there but whenever I watch you and you never give up I try even harder!
I wish I had outdoor rink where I lived. However, that is central Illinois and it's not consistently cold enough for that to happen. Its 90 degrees Monday, Tuesday is -4 with snow, Wednesday theres a chance for a hurricane...
Q&A- I play at a house and A travel level, looking at ACHA d3 teams that need goaltending help.. what tips would you give me to get mentally and physically prepared by tryouts in the summer?
That’s great news Travis. Keep up the great work and don’t give up bro. You’ll get there.👍🏽 I’m almost 50 years old and you got me wanting to get back into goaltending again 😁
What are your thoughts on the new Lefevre goalie gear? I’ve seen Crawford & Bernier wearing them plus Freddy tried them out I think in a leafs practice
Just been getting back into hockey since I was a kid, in some part from your videos. You introduced me to sidelineswap and that app has saved me so much money on some top quality gear. Thank you!
Hey Trav, big fan! Was hoping you might be able to provide some gear advice. I am having trouble keeping my knee guards up. Bauer knee guards with warrior pillows. They constantly slide down my leg and sit uncomfortably low in my pads leg channel. I’ve tried taping them, skate laces, suspenders, etc. nothing seems to work! any advice you may have would be appreciated! Keep up the hard work!
For Q/A What advice would you have for my young sons (9 & 10) to maximize their skills/hockey experience? Related, how do you keep from giving up/burning out?
I had the no quit mentality driven into me by my dad as a kid, never enabled a quitter. Also comes from within. Stay open minded on coaches and trainers and always explore other avenues
Though you made a video about the v9 gear, is it good for a 13 kid? The 13 year old kid being myself. If you can or can not respond thats 100% ok. Thank you.
I’m in need of a pair of prolaces, where do you recommend going to that isn’t going to cost an arm and leg? I saw a pair on SLS for $30US, is that a good price?
Awesome, thanks man. I appreciate your videos. As another 6’6” goalie it’s nice to see someone else with the same struggles. Took me 7 months just to find skates but once again SLS came through. Actually that’s literally where all my gear has come from. Phoenix, AZ doesn’t really have that big of a Goalie community but I’ve found some people with gear who hook me up from time to time
I'd love to hear what went through your mind when you heard about the Zamboni driver playing emergency goalie the other night in Toronto, this guy is about 5-6 years younger than me.
@@trav4oilers Myself and a few of my I-league goalie buddies are saying the same thing. One of them got to play in a game after the Flyers game at the Wells Fargo Center a few months ago.
Wich gloves do you prefer ? the vaughn or the warrior because i dont recall seeing you in your game footage playing with the warrior glove and the vaughn setup?
Hey Trav! Since you work with Padskinz, how do you apply the stuff so it actually lasts a little while. I've never had good luck with getting it to stick well. Also recommendations on a high protective mask? I'm coming from a Kevlar Hackva, and it was a tank. There's nothing like having a great dad! Cherish the time you have with him. I dread ever loosing mine.
I love how much time you put into the channel. With comments and reading the comments making the videos. I hope you find a place you want to play. How are you enjoying your new pads
Travis, I played at Penn State when they were ACHA before they went to full blown NCAA D1. If you want to chat send me a message. ACHA it all depends on the school and how its run at the school. Some had full support systems others did not.
That One:100 has a 24.5" paddle? That's like a 23" paddle in a Sher-Wood, CCM, or Warrior, isn't it? Personally, I've never liked the way Bauer measured their sticks, but I thought they'd changed it recently, possibly with the 1S line (I used to manage a sports store). I use a 26" in basically everything, and I've always had to use a 27.5" in a Bauer to feel comfortable. Alas, I'm weird... but aren't we all. It's great to know that your parents are still behind you, and appreciate that you're using the life lessons they taught you. See ya Wednesday bro.
I think I asked this question under my other account ShinAkuma204 but never found it in a Q&A. What is your pregame ritual to achieve focus? For myself I listen to a certain kind of music and visualize the game and my movements. Also has your prep method changed from your time with Lundar? Could probably make an episode out of this question lol
i'm sorry but the original blues clues guy retiring pissed me off lol loved that show as a kid. totally random I know. keep at the work man hope you get back to your dream for college and hopefully see you playing pro :)
how do you feel about brians goalie gear?? Also if you did play college hockey in the US how hard would it be to leave the peg and would you move back asap?
Hey trav The reason why they don’t have any setup for the ACHA team is because it’s more or less a college kid beer league. Top teams are decent but have no depth and it’s about 2-3 practices a week. You should strive higher than ACHA it’s not bad but it certainly won’t be what you want.
Your videos are so good they’ve turned into a morning routine for me to watch on monday, wednesday and friday almost like a motivational podcast. Looking forward for Wednesday video! ( BTW any opinion on the 42 year old goalie in the NHL? I guess it really is never to late to play!)
Most ACHA teams are clubs, and aren't affiliated with the athletic department, so I think that may have had something to do with there being no solid plan for your visit
I was looking forward to you possibly getting the new ultra sonic gear so I could get a Trav review on them before I buy.... the Vaughn’s look great by the way I’m a keen fan of plain white pads, if you were offered both Vaughn’s and Bauer’s for free which would you go for and why?

I feel your pain. I'm in Southern Ontario, and while we have snow, it's not been cold enough consistently to keep an ODR in decent shape all winter.
I have at least six inches of snow in the ground here in Colorado USA
