      +Felipe Jorge agreed, there's something in Witcher 1 that Witcher 2 and 3 don't have. I just..can't tell you what it is, exactly. I just know this game is pure magic..

      +Bane - RSS. I would say it's everything but specially the music. Paweł Błaszczak (the composer who gave this nostalgic/atmospheric touch to the first game) is missing in TW 2 and 3 even when they tried to recreate some of the songs (Kaer Morhen in TW3) it just doesn't feel the same anymore. Also the Aurora engine made the art-style unique in the original one. The novels came to life.

      JMSLionheart Well, when i finished the game and it takes you to Kaer Morhen alone , well.. when the ost started, it completely destroyed my heart. Gotta agree tho, you can feel the difference between the first game and the others, especially with Witcher 2. Glad to see they tried ( and almost succeded imo) to return to Witcher 1's atmosphere with Wild Hunt.

      @@sonpablo6725 witcher 3 has decent tavern and battle music, but Witcher 1 has the edge on exploration soundscapes. Peaceful Moments, The Dike, River of Life and Lakeside are among the best, and in my opinion only Fields of Ard Skellig from Witcher 3 reaches the same level, and that too isn't an original composition (it's an old Celtic song).

    Прошёл первую часть сразу после того как прочитал, а затем два раза перечитал все книги про ведьмака 9 лет назад. И до сих пор регулярно на протяжении этих лет слушаю некоторые композиции из первой части. Непередаваемая атмосфера. Музыка из польского сериала, кстати, тоже очень хороша. А вот атмосфера во второй и в третьей частях, на мой взгляд, немного похуже, нет той славянской мрачности. И я весьма опасаюсь, что нетфликс запорет грядущий сериал, напихав в него неолиберальных ценностей, добавив игропрестоловской эпичности, а также обделив его хоть каких-нибудь славянскими чертами. Но, поживём - увидим.

      Yeah, first one has that "mythical" or... I don't know... Can't describe it, but the atmosphere is great. While W3 soundtrack is very good, one thing that I missed was that feeling of mystery, something unknown. Can't even find correct words to describe it. :P

    • @aethelred1987
      @aethelred1987 7 років тому +14

      Vitalis I know what you mean. I'm not sure how to describe it.
      The Witcher 1 had a Slavic theme to it. It sounds a lot more bleak than The Witcher 3 and went better with the gritty setting. It also didn't deviate too far from this theme.
      The Witcher 3 took place on various continents with different cultures, so the music differs in each place. So the music doesn't have a solid, unanimous theme like The Witcher 1 had.

    • @Vitalis94
      @Vitalis94 7 років тому +21

      RedShift45 Well, Witcher was never fully Slavic. Even the first Witcher game. After all, there is an Elven track IIRC. So Celtic influences are there as well. But yeah, in the end, Slavic themes in W1 were the strongest, and at the same time most memorable.
      The Outskirts of Vizima, the swamps, whole Chapter IV - Yeah, they are as Slavic as they can get.
      I think the main difference was that sense of darkness. While whole saga has that shades of gray, when you played Witcher 1 you could feel that this world is not some colourful, candy kingdom. No, this was brutal and evil world, just like ours. There are of course cheerful moments, again, like in real life, but life isn't easy. And so was Witcher 1. I think that it is also thanks to the graphics. They look dirty and somewhat realistic, while in Witcher 2 and even 3 everything is so shiny, new and colourful.
      Also, Witcher 2 was more focused on the big picture. Politics, fates of whole kingdoms. You had veery big cities, castles (which looked like the ones from France or England, while in the first game they took inspiration from Polish ones. Hell, Vizima itself was modeled after Cracow.)
      And Witcher 1 was more regional. You had only Vizima and it's surroundigs, really. And the plot itself was just about some gang that stole Witchers secrets, while the big picture was largely ignored (well, in the end we saw that the scheme was a little bigger than that, but still)...
      I like Skellige from Witcher 3 and that Nordic/Viking/Celtic theme about it, but it can't even compare to W1.

    • @avocadopictures9706
      @avocadopictures9706 7 років тому

      "Poles" is more correct way to call them in english than "Polacks". Polacks is rather offensive slur, it's like calling Albanians "Shqips" or calling Russians "Russkyes".

      KoraxProductions Why is polak offensive, isn't it how they call themselves? Seriously, I'm french and you wanna call me frenchie, I don't care.
      People are too easily offended these days.

    • @Altermerea
      @Altermerea 9 років тому +2

      Mathieu Poulin English word is "Pole", and in English the word "Polack" is usually used deliberately to offend them.
      I'm not saying everyone will get offended, but some people may.

    • @mathieupoulin2577
      @mathieupoulin2577 9 років тому

      KoraxProductions But Polak is the word in Polish is it not? It takes a special kind of oversensitive person to be offended by that.
      Anyway that's my opinion.
      *PS* I mean, anybody can use just about any word if they want to be mean or to offend. I don't think the words, especially words like Polak or Frenchie, are especially mean, quite the opposite. If I use Polak it'd be to be closer to the guy, by calling him the way he'd call himself in his very own language.
      Just grow up, stop being offended by words. Especially when spoken out of the mouths of friendly people.

    Witcher 1 was so much more atmospheric, mysterious and moody when compared to W2 and 3. 3 is superb but I found W2 to be lacking. It was way too short and the jte's were a pain and not befitting a true RPG. It felt more like an action RPG hybrid but thankfully the team returned to their roots with W3. Shame there are to be no more Witcher games. I hope they go on to do other epic fantasy RPG's.

    • @brego129
      @brego129 7 років тому +9

      Boz agreed. W1 was magic. I couldn't be bothered to play W2 more than once. W3 was great in the same vein as W1, but was lacking the atmosphere that 1 captured so well.

      Witcher 1's music is pretty good but doesn't feel any different from the "European RPG genre" in general, the one from Witcher 3 is based on Slavic music, making it way more unique.

    That's one of the best atmospheric music I know for any game that is out there. Witcher 3 sadly doesn't have it anymore. The music for itself isn't bad, but it doesn't always amplify the atmosphere which it is supposed to do (In my eyes)
    There's also not enough variety in Witcher 3 OSt given the length of the game.... Blood and Wine was great though.

      I played this game many times, and for me is still interesting. Esspecially hard mode ;)
      Try find books Mr. Andrzej Sapkowski in Your country. Books about Witcher are much more intresting than game ;). Esspecialy from Tom III "Elves Blood" (in PL -> Krew Elfów), because from this part begins the saga. (First two tomes are just only a short stories)

    The Witcher 1 is a realistic, non sugar coated, free roam esque rpg that praised forethought, tactics, and a give and take especially with alchemy, true of the second game too, but that combined with the atmosphere and music is epic, made you actually seem like a simple mercenary caught up in a whirlwind of politics he couldnt care about, Witcher 2 makes you seem more like the generic fantasy rpg hero.
    As for Dragon Age 1 and 2, bioware could take a few lessons from this game, actually alot.....
