Toyota is notorious for changing the part numbers and especially for the older parts so trying to go by an older part number can change 3 or 4 times within a few years. If I remember correctly many of the Diesel engines were the same engine that was used for some industrial applications and if the part number ever ends with a 71 it is definitely a industrial part number. I do not remember about the 91. Many of the parts are interchangeable. Especially the older stuff. If you try a Toyota equipment dealer you may be surprised to learn that they can get your parts most of the time overnight. Just need the engine model number but sometimes you will need the serial number for a part break.
Owned many a diesel over the years, never heard one sound so rough. Granted all of mine have been Chevy or Dodge (or farm/construction equipment) but dang! Also never seen such a tiny diesel with two battery's in it either....that can't be a factory option.
Well, in true "General Repair Facility" fashion... what do you all think? We're not just all about the classic American Muscle around here!
My many times in the middle east, I unfortunately had to drive right side diesel and they all sound the same. Turbo are much quieter.
...never back down from a challenge...love it !...
That 1st Toyota just needs a spirited test drive with "Eastbound and Down playing.🤣

Well Rich. It sounds better at the higher RPM. When idling very bad. Maybe the timing. Or check the hot plug. Thanks for sharing!
Very few of the Toyota diesel engines in that class use Glow plugs.
It has new plugs in it. they are working. it had ruff idle due to air in the fuel lines. she idles clean and smooth now. Cheers!
Well, Rich I’m so glad you solved the issue. Your a great mechanic. Love your work.

Yep, diesels do not like air in their fuel system.
No they most definitely do not. And they will quickly let you know their displeasure

2 batteries are used for some high compression engines and accessories.
Did you crack the fuel lines at the motor

I didn't watch to the end b4 I asked
Does that say nobama?????lol

4 cylinder diesel? Talk about undesireable. Good job fixing that one. 18,000 miles because no one wants to drive that dog.
