Mail readers will have a warm glow this morning. But this Rwanda plan is still utterly impractical and a colossal waste of money. And despite the opinions of some, it still casts this country in a poor light.
💯
And all that while the roofs of schools and hospitals come crumbling down. It beggars belief.
Absolutely spot on.
@@brunsheimmasterbaitwilfrie2811 Strange that the biggest cheerleaders of this preposterous plan are children of immigrants themselves whose families benefited from getting permanent leave to stay in the UK. It is also the need for someone to blame for everything and voiceless people are pretty easy which is all the more disgusting. Especially when you remove all legal means of claiming asylum. It is like a political sunk cost fallacy in that this odious eejit Sunak is too small a person to back down from this having invested so much in it. Tory law means it is legally safe forever when the bill is past.
Welcome to 1984.
Indeed. Going by the way they behaved over this, they can legislate to say that black is white, and that sick people waiting for healthcare are not actually sick...
_'The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.'_

They'll be legislating that sick and/or disabled people aren't sick or disabled soon, and that black is white.

His coalition would have represented more voters, but because of FPTP , it would have had too few MP’s to be stable.
95% of what he said was hot air and fluff
And the other 5% were lies...
The rate/amount of "FLUFFAGE" was towards the extreme range of measurable Fluffage.
As always! Trying to get round things when they are no good and have been stated as no good!
The Tory's dug this Rwanda hole and no matter how hard they try to fill it in, they are digging it deeper. They issued 700,000 legal visas last year but have spent £400 million to send, perhaps, a few dozen migrants thousands of miles away against their will.
And Labour have said they’ll scrap the Rwanda bollocks when they come in.This is costing the British taxpayer MILLIONS and apparently the housing that was built to put the migrants in has been sold! The Rwandan government are taking the piss!😾
They are breaking a fundamental rule of project management. You do not make previously wasted money work by wasting more. You can only stop wasting more money by ending the project.
it's not about sending anyone to Rwanda - it's so they can ditch the ECHR & then do completely as they please
@@stunningkruger There is nothing stop them creating a bill of rights which adds more rights to those in the ECHR, without leaving it.
The only reason to leave it, is to take rights away!

Victoria Derbyshire should be running the bbc, if not the country, lovely person.
Lovely, I don’t doubt, but also delightfully savage when she needs to be.
Get this joke of a Government out.
Love Victoria Derbyshire straight to the Question hold tories to account go girl
I’d love to know which comercial airline will be running these flights. Then we could start the campaign to warn them that their reputation will be in shatters if they went ahead with it. I’m not a fan of cancel culture but I’m happy to boycott an airline that profits from this evil policy.
It’s a commercial MOD subcontractor. They bought Military A380’s and lease them to the MOD.
Give Victoria Derbyshire the Sunday morning programme and create a new slot for Kuenssberg. You could call it, "Scottish Tory Hour with Laura". You could bring back Andrew Neal on a part time basis to co-star.
I don't think that, that would increase BBC's viewing figures.
@peterspowage5752
Maybe not- but it would be the best show for her talents. Also, it could put GBeebies out of business.
Still cannot name the "commercial airline" nor the "airfield" Amnesty Int. warns that any airline, working this deportation scheme faces, "reputational damage" and legal barriers
I would think that, by now, Sunak will have used some of his wife's cash to buy a fleet of WW2 Dakotas, they can take off and land almost anywhere.
He can also press Back To Workers to attend a crash course on piloting.
If it doesn't make him richer, it's not worth Sunak's effort.
Victoria Derbyshire is great. She really thinks on her feet, and adapts her follow-up questions based on the previous answer. A couple of other female BBC political journos should take note...
What a relief to see Victoria back. I was fearful that she had been silenced by Tory appointed senior managers at the BBC.
At approximately £1.8m per person to send them to Rwanda, not only is it reasonable, unethical, demonising and morally bankrupt;its cheap for the UK tax payer! Thanks Rishi et al, you are the best...
Apparently, the Rwanda scheme is to be a deterrent to stop the small boats. And there's the paradox: In order for the scheme to be a deterrent,, the prospect of finishing up in Rwanda has to be a greater threat to asylum seekers, than crossing the Channel in a small boat in order to live in a country in which there is so much hatred generated against them.
Contrary to what Sunak claims, it seems that Rwanda has to be a pretty bad place.
Good morning Max and all here ☕. Bravo Victoria Derbyshire. They don't care about human rights. One of the reasons for Brexit was lesser immigration. So? They don't know what they are doing and why
the pontius pilate solution in the modern day ,,,,, they just want to wash their hands of the situation they dont care about anything else ,
Having travelled through Africa, including Rwanda, I know first hand how quickly situations can change and become very unsafe very quickly. This the UK government have absolutely no control over.
Your summary at the end about the MO of the modern day Tory is absolutely bang on. They're like a mafia gang!!
You misunderstood, he said Rwanda will be safe around the same time as Brexit benefits will be showing so 2050.
Will we be responsible if we send asylum seekers to Rwanda and its not safe and someome suffers harm.
She's head and shoulders the best journalist at the BBC - keep her at all costs!
She always has been. Nobody else confronts. The others let them waffle on!
Queen Victoria 👑❤
We know it's rubbish, they know it's rubbish. A shocking state of affairs when this behaviour on behalf of the government is considered normal. Does that man look like a rabbit caught in the headlights or what?!
They're desperate, there's no vision, it's just blind panic.
I never thought the UK would be able to pass such fascist legislation.
A safe country & a deterrent how does that work then ?
Look we have truly arrived at the realm of Orwell's 1984. Totally absurd
The most worrying thing about the bill passing is the willingness of the government to by pass the lawyers and legal process to get it's own way. The question is not how safe is Rwanda. Instead the question should be how safe is the UK? If the government wants to ignore the law and the process of ut for this. What else will they do it on? If people are not finding this worrying. That is terrifying in itself.

Bbc newsround today stated that asylum seekers should apply for asylum in the first safe country. Absolute rubbish. Strongly worded email on its way!
1.8million per person...is it really worth it?!..
It’s not their money!
They don’t care if it’s value for money or not.
Put it this way for £1.8 million most people could buy a house and pay for a whole lifetime and at the same time bring up a family and still have change.
It will be to the Tories, if it wins them the election.
It's a gamble, but Sunak is a gambler that's what hedge fund management is about.
And, he's not using his own money.
They won't get away with it this time.
@@peterspowage5752 They just might if they can get "Reform" to stand down in all seats that Liebour are close to winning. They might just make it a hung Parliament, then Liebour need to persuade the Lib-Dems to join them probably an easy ask after the HUGE screw-up they made in 2010 when they joined the Tories and that cost them a lot.
"It will be safe......fingers crossed."
He will be gone at the next election. Couldn't happen to a nicer person
Max , I’m sorry but if you think that Buckland is or ever has been half decent then I’d give your head a wobble ! He is not & never has been anywhere decent !
Look at his face here. He's lying and he knows it.
A part of me wants the flights to start, have ZERO effect on the number of boat crossings, and finally see the remaining 19% of Tory support drop to nil.
The boats could of been stopped if the Tories had set up a process centre in France for asylum seekers.
If approved then they would be allowed to be legally in the UK.
They don't want that because they'd have to pay for hotels in Europe whilst they try to get rid of the backlog.
It’s the right way to deal with the issue plus centres in turkey & Tunisia, but the journalist at daily mail, sun & telegraph would lose their minds if anyone suggested it.😢
Where are they going to be housed when the houses in Rwanda as been sold
ABSOLUTEMENT.
YEAH.
Just their distraction
Like 2016, he's gambling on weaponising xenophobia. Like 2019, he's attempting to create a single issue election in the hope that Reform will collaborate with the Tories rather than an oppose them.
This time I don't think it will work.
Buckland a moderate max ? Fact check him, I believe you may change your mind max!
If everything is ready how much has it cost to date?

How sad and deperate is any government, when they continue to pin their hopes for the next election on such an inconsequential bill?
The only people Sunak is " delivering " for are the crazies in his party.
….and not the crazies who are going to vote Reform!
It’s not a vote winner. It’s driving Tory voters to vote for other parties. Both to the left and right of the current Tories.

Rwanda is, or will be, safe and yet will act as a deterant? Go figure.
The modern day Sir Charles Trevelyn with Rish! Sunak as Lord John Russell. Where is the humanity?

So when is the first flight with refugees from Rwanda expected ?
Morning Max and all here.
Does Rwanda have any accommodation for these refugees ? I thought that the houses they built for them have been sold off ! 😂😂 Maybe, like us, they will have to put them in 4 Star hotels 😂😂
How have they not realised that you will never keep the crazies happy, they are crazy, its in the name.
So why was it was voted to be safe when it isn't, no wonder the country is in a mess.
This is the sort of thing that used to be written in IBM manuals "it will have been ".
Why is she spouting the 'illegal migrant' line?
throw enough mud and some sticks , its obvious to anyone who thinks about it that no human is illegal just because a biased politics say so ,,but if the word gets repeated enough it drips into the public psyche and a lie becomes a truth
It's the BBC, otherwise known a 'Be Benign to Conservatives.' 🙄
It will be safe in the future!
The govt would say that Rwanda is already safe, but is going even more safe, and will ultimately be the safest place on earth.
When you ask a question which demands a Yes/No response and the response begins with "Well" you just know he won't answer the question.
Just to make me feel even worse by this report, Buckland was born in my neck of the woods, but I for sure won't accept him as a decent Countryman.
A summer GE is coming. Sunak wants to drag immigration and Brexit back to the centre stage.
This is a tragic example of a serious man forced to attempt to defend the indefensible in order to present his divided and shambolic party in a good light.
We're in the dystopian world of Nineteen Eighty Four (albeit 40 years late). This is doublethink in action!
Look the earth is flat
That’s the whole point…Rwanda needs to be terrifying to the asylum seekers.
When will Victoria Derbyshire be given the QT and Sunday morning programs... she is a far better jounalist and interviewer than the other two together by a country mile!
