Not only is he really funny and charming but also incredibly smart and eloquent. I love when he gets to talk about his own character and his relationship with Magnus. You can tell how much he cares. It's also funny to me how he always dodges questions about the books. Same, Matt. Also liked how he clarified Alec's former feelings for Jace and that they weren't actually romantic. Overall good interview. Wish they would have left out the Dom drama since they obviously didn't even get why people were upset with his word choice. So of course Matt is gonna agree with their version of what Dom said. Anyway, lovely to get this much content of Matt (:
Jacky J i'm sorry, i don't get it.. can you tell me what Dom says about Malec?
Aswinanda CK As far as I understood Dom expressed his opinion that Malec couldn't be a real couple yet because they are still getting to know each other and it's all very new or something like that. But then he went on to talk about how Jace and Clary were love at first sight and etc. This was also after some interviewer from this show said that Malec didn't have chemistry and at that time he kind of agreed. I don't know if I understood things well, but I think some fans overreacted in the way they attacked Dom as if he couldn't have his own opinion.
From my point of view, Dom meant that Malec can't be a real couple yet because they didn't wen't through enough harsh moments in their relationships, and those are the moments where real love is tested. And yes, Dom said that Clace was love at first sight and yet, 2 seasons later, they are still not a real couple because they're still trying to figure their shit out. As much as i love Malec i agree with Dom, their relationship is a bit too perfect, they need to know more about each other, the good and THE BAD. And Alec needs to experience life a little more before he finally realises that Magnus is the right one. I want drama, i want that breakup from the fifth book, and then i want them to get back together and be forever happy.
They are experiencing drama and conflict now and trying to figure out how to be boyfriends and head of the institute and high warlock of broklyn at the same time. They are trying to conciliate their love life with their professional life and defending their own. Maybe they'll break up or they'll have a period more apart trying to figure things out, but mean while there's going to be those fights together against the dragon and the dying Jace (?) and Max (?) issues. I think this can be an important step in their relationship if they do it right. I didn't read the books but I know why they broke in the books. I hope that if they break up they don't do it for such a reason... I think it's very out of character for the Alec of the show. From what I've been told about the books, the show relationship seems much more healthy and mature, though I agree with you that Alec must grow up in terms of the relationship on the show.

I still think Alec was in the wrong. What he kept from Magnus wasn't just some random piece of information - it was directly related to Magnus and the downworlders in general, with their very survival at stake.

First thing that needs to be said...Dang he's pretty. Seriously, I agree with him....and Dom about Alec and Magnus. In real life, relationships don't smell like roses. Sometimes, it stinks (Outkast yall). You fight, breakup and if it is strong, you get back together with lessons learned. I am just going to watch and see how this relationship evolves. By the way, Luke will not die (yeah...he's my favorite).

I disagree about what he said about Climon. Best friends can fall in love with each other. On the show, Clary and Simon MUTUALLY had attraction and had feelings for each other. There is nothing wrong with Simon wanting to be more than friends with Clary on the show. Jalec and Climon are not alike.

really like this episode. Malec is in hot water right now because of Magnus doesn't trust Alec after learning from Luke the Clave had lied. I think Alec will try to make it up to him in the next episode. Loved seeing Luke's sister and she was cool in this episode I think she will still try to get away from Valentine. Also seeing Dot return and the Mortal Mirror hunt plus I think she's still alive even after her encounter with Sebastian/Johanathon. Really like the Valentine/Sebastion scenes and Isabelle/Simon/Max. I think Sebastian is going to harm Max for he knows the truth. Also Alec/Isabelle moment was great. Plus Clary telling Sebastian how she loves her brother and Sebastian had the look of happiness. I think Clary will learn the truth next episode. Also don't care for Maia and Simon as a couple which I didn't in the book but better off as friends. Also Sebastian kissing Clary I didn't like.

I get that he has to talk about about how amazing and passionate the fans are, but I really wish he addressed, at least once, the high degree of bullism some of the fans have to go through on social media, just because they don't share ship preferences or have different opinions than those of the most "vocal" fans.

Nah Clace is very real, just the actors behind the characters aren't exactly together irl and the only way they really work well in acting out the scenes is cause they have a really good chemistry with each other.

it just shows the double standards that these Malec shippers have, they get all upset and angry with Dom for saying that Malec still has a lot of things to sort out and they needed more time to get to know one another and he's right. but when Matt basically says the same thing, no one cares. Interesting interview to watch. Apart from some Malec fans who can't take a little conflict and want Malec to be all rainbow and unicorn that I personally think they should be ignored, I think the whole writing plot for Malec definitely needs to be improved and tbh Alec is a douchebag for many reasons. I get that he was born and raised in Shadow world and taught to follow Clave order and Shadowhunters are superior to Downworlders. But the writer decides to keep having him making the same mistake in every episode. He's very insensitive and most of the time put Magnus as one of his lowest priorities. While I understand his point to keep the secret from Magnus (well his dad asked him not to tell anyone and he had no prob sharing it with Izzy, Jace and Clary tho), his action, his facial expression and his choice of words are terrible. "after all of the things I've done for you, you can't do one thing for me", "Don't keep this personal", "don't need to be over dramatic", "I need you to be there as the warlock of the Downworlder not as my bf", "Its unfair", etc. And his makeup line is even funnier "I love you" then kiss 😂😂😂. I get he's 20s and inexperienced in relationship but please for viewer sake, start learning dude! I'm getting tired of how uncreative and repetitive of this Makes relationship due to bad writing and I hope they call it a quit for both characters to grow, focus on their individual stuff and know what to expect from a relationship. I know this is not gonna happen coz they don't break up yet until "Camilie thing" comes in but it's still my wish. I'll be very happy if they later decide to get back together but for now I don't see any of the chemistry or improvement or "they are trying to work on it". Nope, don't see it. Alec has the reason to do what he is doing but he doesn't have to be that insensitive and mean to Magnus when trying to defense himself for his decision. I get his point but he needs to step in Magnus' shoes to see the other perspective as well.

Prynne, I understand both sides and their reasons and I think both of them handled this poorly during the argument. I think they both need to talk and explain their sides calmly and apologize for how they acted during the fight. They both need to understand that they are both at a position of conflict of interests and that due to their differences they will disagree many times and will hurt each other sometimes. However, if they make an effort, they can grow from these differences and grow stronger together. Like Alec said "relationships take effort". Of course this is not going to happen on the show, but I have hope according to the promo and to what directors and writers are saying, that we won't have the formulaic quick "I love you + short kiss" so I'm happy and waiting to see how it will all play out.
Prynne you forgot Magnus has his Downworlders to take care of. He might be alone but he takes Downworlders under his wings and treats them like family, not only Warlocks but vampires, etc. like Raphael and Simon, whoever has problem to adjust to a Downworlder life. He got some best warlock friends that he loves for centuries like Ragnor and Catarina. That's why he still feels bad for Camilie (the ex that broke his heart), but when she crossed the line and hurt his Downworlders, Magnus sent her to Idris. Downworlders mean to Magnus just as much as Shadowhunters mean to Alec, even more coz he's been living and taking care of them for centuries. Clave lied to them so many times, Magnus helped them, trusted them and almost got executed by them, yet they treated him & Downworlders like 3rd class citizen. Alec suggested transparency but keeping a secret that could kill Magnus and whole Downworlders. Meanwhile the fact that Shadowhunters will still be fine if the sword is activated makes them not have the right to say Downworlders are overdramatic.They have conflict and interest and both need to pick side. Clearly Alec picked his Shadowhunters, and now Magnus picked his Downworlders coz he stopped trusting Clave and Alec. You might have to remember Magnus is not only Alec's bf, he's the high warlock of Brooklyn.

Of all the TV shows I got to watched so far which had same sex couples in them, I could easily say that as bad as you described Malec and Alec here, they were still the healthiest on screen couple I've ever watched IMO. At the very least they could still say two sacred expressions some TV show couples and people in general sometimes forgot to say, "thank you and sorry".
