I find it much easier to polish when changing strings, surprised that wasn’t mentioned. Allows access between pups, around bridge and tuning pegs, and on the fretboard itself (not polishing the fretboard, but lightly oiling it).
I have watched many of your videos and I sure hope Gibson knows and appreciates what an asset you are to the company (and customers!) I was nervous about doing a strap button hole fix until I saw you do it, kind of made that repair legit. Great job with explaining things in a manner we understand and the topic of the videos are relevant for everyday players like me. My beautiful new (somewhat) LP Standard in Iced Tea appreciates it and so do I. I mean even something as simple as cleaning and polishing you have transformed into an art form that now we have confidence and knowhow. I find it helps to shake the cleaner/polish before spraying/applying. That stuff settles and separates with a week or two. I use Virtuoso, but I’ve noticed most all cleaners/polishers can use a little shake before using 😎 Also, Music Nomad Guitar Detailer is made for satin/matte. I usually wait til I’m changing strings to give it a good clean and polish. 🤘🏻

And that stuff is great. When I first used the cleaner I was like “why do they even make polish?” 🤣. It works so well. The polish is great too though. Requires a bit more work, but really good.
Congratulations! I too bought a new Gibson Les Paul Guitar 2019 just two days ago. I was initially considering the tribute from the start. But, I ended up going for the studio instead. I honestly think their both great guitars. Do you also use Gibson guitar strings? If so, do you use the bright wire reinforced set by any chance?
All I can think of with this is Nigel Tufnel doing a how to on cleaning the guitar, and saying, "Don't touch it!! Don't even look at it. You'll scratch the finish. Ok, you're done with that one."

In this video, I see that you covered a full gloss finish, and the satin finish for cleaning. However, I think a video on cleaning a VOS finish would be helpful. I've heard that you don't clean, or polish the finish as it will take off the VOS stuff. I'd like to hear the company's opinion on proper maintenance of a VOS finish. I have a 60th Anniversary 1961 Gibson Les Paul SG Custom that's becoming dirty, and I'd like to clean it up without messing up the VOS finish entirely. :]
ive been using Dunlop 65 on my 22 les paul trad pro v. I just figured out that it actually softens up the nitro and makes it smell really bad. it literally gives it a gummy feel that is not good. When i first got the guitar i changed the strings and used the D65 to clean it up andso before i knew, I thought it was just the way a Gibson finish was when new.. It actually cured over the last few weeks and i just cleaned it again and the gummy feel and smell is back.. It actually smells enough to give me a headache.. Glad i figured out what was causing it. Now its gonna have to cure a little more again over the next few days.
I had Les Paul Studio years ago, and the back of the neck had a gummy, sticky feel to it. I could never get it clean enough so it didn't have that feeling. Is that something the finish can sometimes do? I've also grazing in the finish over the years and some discoloring (I was going to buy a used phelham blue DG 335, but some of the blue was turning a yellow green color). Great videos though. I enjoy them even if I think I know what I'm doing. Always learn something. Cheers

What do you use to clean a VOS finish that's slightly dulled down and not glossy? I have a custom shop les paul with that kind of finish, and I'm not sure what to use, so I haven't really cleaned it, just wiped it down. ANd what about the aged nickel parts? Same deal.
I tried Nu finish on mine and I think it patina worse. More cracks. What is the gibson polish made from. Whatever is clever, I'm going to the guitar store. Thanks

My ebony Les Paul Traditional is impossible to polish on the area where my arm contacts the guitar. I'm skeptical of the Gibson polish being the magic remedy to this problem.
Thank you for these videos. I love my 2003 Les Paul but my metal hardware is so tarnished and hazy while the hardware on my 2000 strat is still shiny like new. Why does this happen?
It could be the difference between nickel and chrome, I just got a SG standard ‘61 and it has nickel hardware which will tarnish much faster and easier, but the normal SG standard with the big pick guard has chrome hardware which doesn’t really tarnish it just gets dirty.

Zippo lighter fluid and a soft polishing cloth to clean and a few drops of light refined linseed oil on rosewood fretboards after cleaning. Done.

I use Parker and Baily's furniture cream ... no odor, and polishes really well.

Wadding polish for Harley Davidson chrome is perfect for the metal parts , you can get it at any autoparts store .

Paolo The only way to prevent that is by putting it in a climate controlled room.
i have a custom shop black beauty it has a sticky neck no amount of polishing gets rid of it, it's the only guitar i have owned that has this issue

I sure wish someone could tell me how to CLEAN my nitro finish. All anyones talks about is polishing. How do I CLEAN, CLEAN (not polish) my nice new nitro finish?
We get a natural polish look on our heads at our age too. Lol
I recommend sandpaper to polish a Tom Murphy guitar lol
