I first read this at about age ten. Forty-five years later, I still cannot read it without tears flowing.
This makes me so humble and grateful for everything .
I am so pleased to hear the poet's voice.
I love hearing her voice and her passion with her poem!
In her OWN voice..thanks for sharing this very important and timely poem
@percentum4 I do believe! My niece (now 25) was introduced to Millay in her school. America has some appreciation for the written word -- not everyone is glued to reality TV!Glad you liked the Millay.
It’s strange, she’ll be 38 this year and I found her when I was 17, and one day I’ll be 33 and someone will find her at the same age as me.
Wow this poem made me cry, it's so touching :(
She, her mother, and her sisters lived through hard times just like that.
We in the Bronx play this heartwarming verse every Christmas, it rivals anything Dickens ever did.
came across her in one of my quote book and im glad i did quickly becoming a fav.
ah.. when poetry was full of sentiment, in celebrating moments ... today .. well .. sad
She makes me think of Tilda Swinton in that lovely picture
